Art
Let's meet you.
My name is Queen Iyamu. I am a graduate of
International Studies and Diplomacy front the
University of Benin. I am a Business Woman,
professional crocheter, a wife and mom of 2
adorable boys.
Is crocheting a full time career? And why did
you decide to go into it?
Yes it is. It helps me FOCUS!
It's quite profitable. I love the
fact that I can create
amazingly beautiful and
unique pieces. Most
importantly, I have time for
my family. The Industry is an
untapped resource and i want
to be a part of its early stage.
How do you market your
works?
All social media
platforms and word of
mouth.
How do you price your
work?
Cost of production
materials/tools, Time,
packaging, and so on
Who are biggest
influences in business ?
Tricia Ikponmwosa of triciabiz, Nelly Agbogu of
naijabrandchick, Damilola Ladejobi of Askdamz,
Funmi Adubi of rolynesdesigns1 amongst others.
Could you describe a real life situation that
inspired your crafts?
Oh yes! I was pregnant for my 1st son at the time,
no job, just freelancing as a makeup artist so I had
so much idle time plus I had not purchased any
baby items for my unborn son. So i had an idea to
start making caps (at least) while waiting for funds
to go shopping. So I cajoled my husband on it
buying me 2 balls of yarn and a hook. I went
surfing on the internet,
mistakes back and forth and
eventually... here we are.
What has been your
biggest challenge as an
entrepreneur?
FUNDING. There are lots
and lots of things to be done,
new ideas, expansion but no
adequate funds to pursue. It's
stunts growth and limits
what is achievable.
Where do you see your
craft in the next 5 years?
Global. I see more value
given to crochet especially in
Africa. It's going to be
explosive.
Are you open for
internships and training?
Oh yes I am!
Is your business profitable?
Yes it is! Can't go into details of "how profitable"
but it sure is.
What trends are you currently following, in
relation to your craft?
Well, none specifically! I just try to look for what's
attainable and generally acceptable and i work with
it creating my own unique style.
Queen Iyamu.

ey Queen! One of the things I have
Hcome to re-understood lately is how
much we all need companionship as
human beings. The idea of romantic love and being
loved is never overrated but a human necessity that
can either make us fly or fall if we find right or find
wrong. Although, there are societal yardsticks for
what makes normal and acceptable in all things, how
we choose to run our romantic relationship as adults is
totally up to us and it is important to be aware of that
autonomy. I like to think that a love/relationship is
legitimate and official once the feelings are validated
to be mutual, true and respected by both parties
involved. However, what we do or sacrifice to
appease the status quo in the bid to make our
relationships official should never be a rite but a
willful doing.
Be that as it may, there is one thing we must
know, the 21st Century is one that is quite lucky to
have an unbelievably large number of motivational
speakers, life coaches, influencers, etc. who are not
only committed to making money but also committed
to daily guiding us through life and life choices, either
for free or at a price; more so, the availability of many
social media applications and platforms have helped
make the contents they provide an accessible one to
consume but then, it is important to be guided in our
consumption, most especially as far as life and love
are concerned.
Recently, I read a post about how important it
is to be unapologetic about asserting how you want to
be loved as a woman and how necessary it is for you
also to walk away from such relationships if you are
not getting it. Do I disagree? Not at all; I am pro these
all the time. In line with that, there is also another that
brought me to a place of unexpected vulnerability.
This other post attacks our irrational affection and
desire for men who do not give us what we want or
love us the way we want and in turn, queries our
disregard for men who go all the way to give us those
little things we wait on those other men to give.
Believe me when I say, that the truths most of
these posts make us face a lot of times have really
helped us in making better relationship decisions as
women but I also noticed that the realities of our
vulnerabilities in those moments when we decide to
make the decisions that are best for our lives and
growth are not captured or accounted for and this
omission makes it difficult for us to acknowledge our

THE NARRATIVES!

humanity and be kind to ourselves when we make or
almost made bad decisions while just getting out of
one. As someone who has had tough-luck with love
and relationships, I learnt, just recently the tempting
reality of finding what you've always wanted and
holding on to it not because you fancy the person but
because you fancy what they bring.
G r o w i n g t h r o u g h m y r e l a t i o n s h i p
experiences, I've had old friends emphasize the
necessity of marrying someone who loves you more
than you love him – it doesn't matter how it looks;
what matters is the wisdom in it that helps guard your
heart. A lot of times, I have never been able to make
sense of that advice, even though it seemed to work
for quite a number of people who live by it but then,
there is something absurd about catering to negativity
and planning for failure in love, because, at the end of
the day, it all boils down to when it fails – you don't
hurt more 'cause he loved more; you don't lose, he
loses. When we play love like that, it's really hard to
accept the normalcy that comes with love being
measured based on how genuine, how mutual, etc.
and not on a comparative basis of more or less.
Recently, I met a 39-year-old man who was
unashamedly feeling your girl. He has never been
married, a couple of failed relationships, had a good
job and wanted us to date. Need I say that I had just
left a relationship where I wasn't getting what I
wanted and this 39-year-old man was doing them all
without asking and without his feelings being
returned. The more he calls, the more I felt the urge to
give it a try but I knew he didn't fit into what I wanted.
I s s u e 7 | w w w . g l a n c e n g . c o m | 4
Blunt N Bare
The huge age gap wasn't a barrier but an important
factor; not only because he had seen more life than I
have and in a way possessed the ability to manipulate
me into doing things I wouldn't want to do but
because I would find myself adjusting my plans to fit
into his (getting married, having kids, etc.). Then I
realized that sometimes, you will find someone who
is more than willing to give you all that you've always
sought in another and you won't feel the same way but
you'll be tempted to force yourself to feel the same
way because you feel that now you finally found it
and that's all that matters and you can teach yourself
to feel the same way in return, but girl, you deserve
better than forcing your heart to accommodate what it
truly doesn't want just because it seems to make up for
all those moments you begged for it from another
person you loved.
Now, you are vulnerable. You can be
irrational in your decisions; you can feed on all those
narratives about how unreal love is, how age means
nothing so far they make you happy, how you can
always train yourself to love them with time, how if A
did it, it can always work for you too, etc. It is not
enough to be with someone just because they care for
you or about you. It is not enough to be with someone
just because they fill a void in your life or satisfy a
craving. Love is not a once in a lifetime happening.
Love is not a bus, you don't miss it. To make the best
of life's decisions, you have to be rational. People
deserve better than being with them only for what
they give and not who they are. Love yourself enough
to prioritize you above your feelings. If you love
someone just because they make you happy, what's
gonna happen on days they make you sad, get on your
nerves and can't live up to the expectations you've
gotten used to? What if you're unable to love them in
return the way A did?
Mind the narratives. Mind the gap. A lot of
women marry (older men) for different reasons. Most
of the times, their decisions are borne out of the fact
that they appeal to their goals and life plans. Does it
appeal to yours? Or does it help fix a temporary lack
in yourself? I know there is the narrative about older
men being more loving, gentle, kinder, faithful, etc.
Do you want to bet your life on a narrative?
I thought about my life – how unready for
marriage I am, how being a mom for me isn't the next
step but a huge life decision I have to be certain I'm
ready for, etc. and then I realized how being with this
39-year-old man would take that away from me and
paint me as inconsiderate and selfish should I decide
to still want what I want knowing how old he is and
how eager he is to be a father. First, I was able to love
myself enough to be truthful with myself and stand by
what I want even if it seemed like I was walking away
from a golden opportunity to some people. Second, I
respected him enough to let him know that being with
him would mean sacrificing myself to make his
dreams become reality and I know that I owe myself
better than that.
When you love someone more than you love
yourself, toxicity teaches you that it implies real,
great, true, etc. But you cannot love anyone more than
you love yourself. You can only love them as much as
you love yourself. When you prioritize someone
above you, then something is missing in you that you
think loving them that way helps you feel better about
yourself.
So Queen, before you do it, no matter how
thrilling it seems, no matter how loud your voice is
when you scream finally, be sure it is healthy and
fulfilling. What you want is legit! You do not have to
sacrifice any part of yourself to have it! One day, love
will find you and it's gonna have all that you have ever
wanted.

ABOUT FAILURE
“Yes I have encountered failure over time but I never
gave up, because when I fail I learn from it and grow
stronger. I am always focused on the victory ahead
of me”
I started with selling raw plantain before I ventured
into roasting so I can increase the profit.
I started small and grew organically. Then, I added
the little savings I had to start up my boli business.
THE TINA OFEM STORY...
The Tina Ofem story is so motivating and inspiring. In
the quest to become her own boss she ventured into so
many things but out of 99 one paid off.
Out of everything the very numerous alternatives, she
chose to sell plantain and fish because she actually
wanted to be unique and solve a problem in real time.
”I have always known that I have so many destinies
tied to me and how do I actualize those destinies?”
My passion for food has really pushed me thus far,
and as a beautiful girl and fresh graduate, I chose
food over every other occupation because I
discovered it was an unexploited segment. Think
about it - Plantain is one food people can't reject and
it has no side effect.
ABOUT JOB HUNTING
Yes, there was a time I was job hunting. The ones I
found always found a way to evade payments after
servicing them. And so, I had to quit.
“Those times where difficult but I learnt new
strategies, improved my marketing skills (which I can
implore to run my own business), and I made new
friends”
I WAS RECENTLY MADE AN ECOBANK
AMBASSADOR.
From the very day my news hit the Internet, Eco
bank came looking for me, followed me up and
decided to help me scale up in the best way they can.
They support entrepreneurs and make banking
system easy for business owners.
“My bole brings me so much Joy and I am so happy
that my vision has been made a reality!”
ON RECENT EXPANSION
My growth process came as a result of the
empowerment from my Digital Governor - His
Excellency Prof. Sen. Ben Ayade who saw the need
to support this vision of mine. So I seized the
opportunity to actualize my dreams of owning a
restaurant.
“Right now I'm dedicated to running my business. I
want to see it grow to the apex”
ABOUT TECHNOLOGY.
“Social media aided my growth. I urge everyone out
there to make good use of it”
Let's use social media for social good.

TELL US ABOUT YOURSELF, COUNTRY,

STORY IN A NUTSHELL?
I like to enjoy life. Christian. God

Business Management and
Finance. Got recruited by a New

entertainment related, although it

I did on the side. Moved back to

offered a role on a major
Mnet series, Hush,
which required me to
move to Nigeria. Fast
forward two and a half
years here we are.
HOW DID ACTING BEGIN FOR YOU, SHARE
WITH US YOUR JOURNEY TO THE MOVIE
INDUSTRY?
Had a bit of fortune/grace on my side. A lot happened for
me pretty quickly after I moved back to Ghana. Probably
because I had an insanely efficient manager. He introduced
me to one of the best directors on the continent, Shirley
Frimpong Manso, who happened to be preparing to shoot a
major film. She took a chance on me and offered me one of
the major roles. Starred in Devil in the Detail for her, and
continued to be in a number of her productions.
Everything else pretty much took off from there.

LIKE BEING PART OF EACH
PROJECTS?
Each project is different, but the
one thing that stays the same is the
friendships you walk away with.
Almost everyone I shoot with (cast
and crew), especially over an
extended period of time almost
invariably becomes family to me.
All of those projects were amazing but it's mainly getting
to work with some of the actors, directors and crew
members that made them memorable.
WHAT PROJECTS ARE YOU CURRENTLY
WORKING ON AND WHAT SHOULD WE EXPECT
FROM YOU IN 2019?
Acting/presenting forms probably half of what I spend my
time on so at the moment I'm taking a bit of a breather from
constant shooting to focus on my other businesses. I co run
a small production company specializing in content
creation for television, online and in flight platforms so
we're putting a bit of focus on that for now. We released our
first film, Entangled, last year, and are set to release our
second (A Sunday Kind of Love) and third later on this
year. Releasing a limited edition apparel line sometime
later this year as well.

Divatude
Lol! This is about to get real. I don't like kissing; i
think its gross. Why? i don't know. I don't just like the
act. For me to kiss you? I must “BE” insanely in-love
with you. And that has happened just once in my
entire adult life. { i mean, being insanely in-love with
someone} Maybe i would kiss my husband. You
know the whole French deep kiss and all. Maybe then,
i wouldn't have to be irritated by it. But right now?
Kissing is gross! The whole tongue thing, Saliva and
all. I don't know where
you mouth has been, don't
kiss me. Who the hell
invented a kiss in the first
place? Who was the first
person to think gnawing
on another person's
mouth would be fun?.
Now; don't give me that
look. I'm sexual, and feel
like I have a normal sex
drive, but I hate kissing.
There is nothing about it
that is pleasant at all.
ugh!. Well; Small peck
kisses are great for me.
That will do. Keep your tongues in your mouth.
You Might think am crazy. But research has proven
that, not so many people like to kiss as you think.
French kissing
is sexy and
intimate and
can be such a turn on
when done correctly
In-fact: Researchers investigated about 168 different
cultures engage in romantic lip locks—and they
found that only 46 percent of those groups actually
kiss. Seriously, that's it. Interestingly, the geographic
location of the each culture didn't impact whether or
not the people in that group got their smooch on. In
fact, 45 percent of the North American cultures
investigated didn't kiss at all. But researchers did find
that the more socially “complex” a society (groups
like Americans and Chinese are considered socially
complex), the more likely they were to partake in
romantic lip locking. Some of the non-kissing
cultures, even some small, egalitarian groups, said
they see mouth play as unclean or just really freaking
unpleasant.
Even though I believe i can get over most things in
terms of sexual compatibility, it will be really difficult
to overcome this! Do you know what a massive
turnoff bad kissing is? especially when you get
tongues involved. Yes, French kissing is sexy and
intimate and can be such a turn on when done
correctly. But to me; if am not into this person? the
grossness becomes more apparent.
Now don't get me wrong,
French Kissing is still totally
worth it. In my opinion the
hotness it brings definitely
outweighs the spit and all of
that. Especially when you
like the person a lot.
Meanwhile, research has also
proven to me that; French
kissing is basically a bacteria
orgy in your mouth. In just 10
seconds of kissing there are
about 80 million bacteria
being swapped around there.
Making it more gross, even
though the vast majority of these are harmless. Either
way, yuck.
And Yes! It's not just me and am not crazy. A lot of
people don't like French kissing and I think that it's
because quite a few people out there are bad at it.
There are people that dive their tongue around your
mouth in a really aggressive way.
I STILL DON'T LIKE IT!

that I have gift of a scribe, so I could write a life time

Obviously, I am not all these, but Ikpen Ilefa, hence I

ART OF
SEDUCTION
7 TIPS TO MAKE YOUR
SEX LIFE INTERESTING.
By Amarachi Oparah
What makes sex lit?
Great sex can't come from anyone. It is an intentional
arts that can be crafted anywhere and anytime with the
special one. The secret to good sex is achieved when
the right styles are used by the right lovers.
For the right lover part, we can only remind you that
though “sex is not one of the fruits of the spirit, but it is
a very important fruit for “the spirit” (man). And like
every other important fruit (thing) in life, it has its
time (season), ...” [ © D., Queen of F'A'Aarts | A
Fighting Temptation | Chapter27Series Book 1].
For the sexually eligible, here are 7 tips on how to
bedazzle your sex life:
1: Educate yourself about sex; knowledge is power,
when you educate yourself about sex styles,
understand body language of both yourself and your
partner; there ought to be serious changes in your sex
game. Education here doesn't just mean reading sex
related books; at your alone time. Rather, consult
divinity. And marry both supernatural and book
knowledge. Enjoy your bedroom time is paradise,
you are welcome.
2:Tell Him What Turns You On -
Research suggests that better communication is key
to better sex, and no, we don't necessarily mean dirty
talk. Communicating what you like and don't like can
be instructional and informative as you get to know
each other's bodies. If he's doing something you like,
say so rather than relying on ambiguous gestures or
noises. And if it's something you're not into,
communicate that or guide him in a new direction.
Want to try a different angle? Suggest one. If
simultaneous orgasm is your goal and you're close to
climaxing, don't be mum about it.Again, Foreplay is
key.
3:Go for Morning Sex or Afternoon Delight (oh this
bliss).
Dr. Jaffrey notes in her new book that a major reason
for mismatched desire between couples is the way
men and women handle stress during the week. Men,
she says, see sex as a stress reliever while women
want to have sex after they've had time to unwind. As
a result, women tend to go to bed exhausted, their
minds focused on preparing for the next day.
Her solution? "A better alternative is to have sex in the
morning. Set the alarm 30 minutes before your usual
time and see what happens. Men's testosterone levels
peak in the morning so you might be pleasantly
surprised...Another alternative would be to have
afternoon sex on weekends. Interestingly enough,
women tend to ovulate in the afternoon, meaning that
the optimal hormone level for female sexual desire
happens at that time."
4:Experiment with Toys and Props
One way that Rapini counsels long-term couples on
how to explore the unknown to enhance their sexual
I s s u e 7 | w w w . g l a n c e n g . c o m | 2 2
experience is to try shopping for products and toys
together. That could mean anything from couples'
vibrators (she recommends the remote-controlled
Fiera) to massage oils to body paint to blindfolds, and
the beautiful Tantra sofa. Though Rapini says another
way to set the scene is to try adding music as sexy
background noise. "Make massage part of your
routine and start touching each other. Many couples
will start feeling their libido rise after they do that,"
she says.
5:Share your sexual fantasies:
Yes, men have sexual fantasies.
"Men want to share their fantasies but worry their
wives will shame or judge them,"Similarly, note that
men wish women would reveal their own sexual
imaginings. The solution: Make a game of it - indulge
play acts with your partner.
6:Exercise and Don't Skimp on the D (the *Vitamin*
D)
If anyone doubted the power of exercise, there's a
good chance the Class Pass subscription you passed
up this year is affecting your sex drive. "Exercise
improves circulation in the body, and that includes the
blood flow to your genital area, consequently
increasing the desire and lifting your mood". We're
sure those endorphins don't hurt. Trying out sexy yoga
with your spouse can be very lovely.
And as for those of us city dwellers lacking in vitamin
D? "Even during the summer, we don't get enough
vitamin D because we're scared of the UV rays
causing us skin cancer and premature aging," says Dr.
Jaffrey. "Though too much sun can be damaging to
the skin, Vitamin D is essential for estrogen
production in women and testosterone production in
men and luckily, it can be gotten from some dairy
products, orange juice, soy milk, and cereals, Beef
liver, Cheese, Egg yolks. It boosts your libido so if
you feel friskier during the summer, this is the
reason." Our pressing spring fever questions
answered? We think yes. Kegal exercises are
powerful tools to improving your sex life.
7: Oral sex can make you go haywire - and for those
few lactose intollerant folks, don't worry... this is safe.
Hahahhah... And hand jobs come in really handy in
those spontenous moments of passionate bursts
where a quickie is needed. So please, don't get too up
and tight, indulge the spontenous sometimes - maybe
some Kama Sutra sometimes. There is no mistaking
that Freud once called female sexuality "the dark
continent," to some people, you can't do a good job if
you don't make them reach a certain level of pleasure
through oral sex.
And don't forget to use lubrications when servicing
the rear, it makes the sex as smoother.

THE GHOST

ALES I TELL TO FEAR Chapter 27Series
TBook III Poem 014
He'll make his stop from time to time with words as
sleek as rum on ice,
“Darling” he'll say, “I missed you much” and all those
sweet-sweet nothings.
It's funny how he says the same to Sandra, Ruth &
Halima
But, my heart – this wicked little thing loves whom it
decides,
And bids me still to love this lie.
I wanted him as mine, in every sense of mine-ness”
And if my day went bad or good I wanted him to
know.
But that could never tame,
A heart as wild as his,
And neither love nor perverted prayers could hold
him down as mine.
I wanted him as mine though the earth was full of
men,
And if I had to make my pick he'd surely be my
choice.
But that could never tame or keep him ever near,
His wandering hands and greedy eyes made the
rounds from queen to whore, and they all would never
mind.
I wanted him as mine like a million other lasses,
And if we'd die to make him mine I didn't seem to
mind.
But then I thought how dark my heart to think up such
a crime,
I hated him for being bad and here I was being evil.
I still want him as mine, amidst impending doom and
caution,
But his lying tongue and soiled bed are less than I
deserve.
I still want him as mine, or so my heart declares.
But then I'd be a pristine gem rotting in a dead mans
chest.”
You now want him as yours I know
His melting eyes and soothing arms all feel too good
to be a lie.
You still want him as yours I know, you think you'll be
the knight
To tame this demon and set him on heavens highway.
Caution my dear I beg of you, an undeserving end
await all who that way went.
While some in death did find their peace.
Just when you think he's long dead and buried, he'll
make an entrance
Out of the stone cold blues with hugs that feel like
sunshine in rainbows,
But our desperate hearts and ticking clock we all must
keep in check this time.
And look beyond his deceitful charms to the
Casanova within
And if we all will shut him out the grave will be his
bride, the ghost entombed alas!
“For the lips of a strange woman drop as an
honeycomb, and her mouth is smoother than oil: But
her end is bitter as wormwood, sharp as a two edgedsword.
Her feet
go down to death; her steps take hold on hell. Lest
thou shouldest ponder the path of life, her ways are
moveable, that thou canst not know them. Proverbs
5:3-6;
(please, read entire bible to get a better understanding
of the statement). FURTHER READING: Proverbs
23:26-28
In this poem, The Ghost is a metaphor used to depict a
dysfunctional breed of man who have infiltrated
religious, pagan, commercial, and
social spaces with the sole aim of committing
emotional fraud.
This wayward breed hide behind high sounding
names like the boys, playboy, Casanova, gigolo,
libertine, [Yoruba] demon... (Yes, go ahead,
name them), to satisfy their depraved sexual needs.
With victims ranging from royals to commoners
alike, no one is above their target. Though
their reputation usually proceeds them, most of these
victims get hypnotized by the charm of this
dysfunctional breed, and don't seem to mind
– or somehow wish they will be the “special one” that
changes.
The Ghost on the other hand beat their chest and brag
about their exploits. They kiss and tell, and their
victims always excuse them with the
idiotic phrase “boys will always be boys” - a
statement that both pacifies the irresponsibility of this
dysfunctional character, while also amplifying
I s s u e 7 | w w w . g l a n c e n g . c o m | 2 4
the stark (psychological/emotional) illiteracy of the
naive victims who fall prey to them.
The Ghost prowls about as if their charm was
bestowed by some supernatural power. But, this is a
blatant lie, a major part of the fraud that
seeks to accord them an undeserving reverence and
importance, thus enhancing their relevance. In reality,
they are mere mortals with blood
in their veins and air in their nostrils (just like you and
I) who have devoted time and energy into mastering
the twisted arts of seduction to the
detriment of emotionally and psychologically
uneducated victims.
The Ghost is always around the hood with sweetness
in their words, and they usually offer irresistible
promises and just the right dose of thrill
and adventure needed to endure this bore that has
come to be known as Adulthood. But, indulging The
Ghost ends in the the same way with
the ghost ghosting (I call it a cowards goodbye)
marked by unanswered phone-calls, flimsy excuses,
and all those silly things. And leaving in
their wake, a long trail of broken hearts, regrets, and
vows to never love again.
y say “Don't blame a clown for acting like a clown.
Ask yourself why you keep going to the circus.” Let's,
stop going back to the circus
where The Ghost makes a fool of even the best of us.
The truth is that life will always feast on the weak. But,
if we guard our heart – as the
poem implies, (the ribs are called cage for a reason -
both pun and sensibility intended), and treat The
Ghost as who they really are – masters
of deception, emotional manipulators, psychological
perverts, irresponsible and wayward kids who don't
want to grow up – we will continue
to be their prey.
This poem is a call to action for everyone to be on the
watch-out and keep guard against The Ghost.

THE EVIL MENACE OF DESTINATION ADDICTION
TO OUR DEVELOPMENT AND PROGRESS.
B Y P E A C E E N I
Destination addiction is the idea that
happiness is in another place entirely. That
would mean basically anywhere else except
in our own environment. Things will never go well
with us if we don't fine-tune our minds to correct this
erroneous believe and also take steps to set standards
that would make things work for us.
No one has ever succeeded by following the dictates
of others and conforming to societal standards. True
and lasting success comes from following one's
passion and developing their inner potentials, talents,
giftings and abilities. After developing our talents, we
should make products out of them, create a demand
for them, carve a market niche, and begin to monetise
them, because a product that has not been monetised
cannot produce financial gains. Talents that's never
generated revenue cannot yield monetary value and
would not make us successful. In our society, it's
obvious that to a large extent we've failed at human
capital development and personal productivity
because we've ignored this fact. That's why the value
for human existence has dwindled over time. If we
don't know our use abuse is inevitable.
We must give up the idea that happiness is somewhere
else and make our environment work for us. We must
contribute to the human capital, personal
development,
capacity building, skills acquisition of our youth. This
will greatly improve our mental, emotional, spiritual
and physical well-being. We need to create platforms
and avenues that would enable more people discover
their passion and follow their inner abilities and
develop their talents. Let's teach our kids the
importance of starting small brands and growing
them into big enterprise. We shouldn't hide our
history from them. They need to understand their
environment, and how to utilise our natural resources
for our own good. We can grow beyond the
limitations set by our poorly funded and inferior
education system.
The true meaning of curse is when one does not know
or understand their purpose on the earth or reason for
their existence, and when we can't locate the people or
market structure that has a demand for what we have
to offer. This breeds a sense of hopelessness and
renders one useless. This brings about a special kind
of frustration that is next to none.
It is our responsibility as individuals and loyal
citizens to also create an enabling system for
ourselves. Rather than sleep on our duties/
responsibilities, going to bed and waking up each day
with the feeling that life would be better on the other
side.
Why civilised nations thrive and succeed is because
they have created a system that supports and enables
them appreciate the human capital factor. This people
go the extra mile, and make conscious effort each and
everyday of their lives to ensure the right things are
done, and solid reliable systems are put in place to
foster sustainable development and enable a
conducive system.
There's nowhere like home. Happiness is home. True
joy comes from within. My prayer for us all in this
part of the world is that we would find purpose on the
earth because that's where true love exists.

WHO YOU ARE
B Y G E O R G E W O N A H
inquiries, retreats, do-it-yourself handbooks, Tv
shows, religious sermons and commentaries.
Therapists have grown rich suggesting different
personas to their patients all in a bid to help define
what they truly are.
"No man can say what he is. But sometimes he can
say what he is not.” - Albert Camus
It suffices to say that from creation until now, man has
been on a quest for self discovery, actualization and
definition.
In the biblical rendition of creation, man is defined as
a living soul, having been imbued with the breathe of
life by the creator himself. But being defined as a
living soul did not seem enough for him as evidenced
by what transpired afterwards.
It suffices to say that it was not the promise of the juicy
fruit which would be appealing to the palates that
caused Adam to yield, it was what he stood to become
- like God and the knowledge that would accompany
that evolution which made him partake of the fruit
against God's express command never to.
The overwhelming need to define oneself and, or
make a name for oneself is not new. Delving back to
scriptures, the men of old thought to define
themselves by a feat so they commenced building a
tower that would reach up to heaven.
In modern era, people define themselves by their
worth, either in terms of net worth, cerebral
astuteness, athletic prowess, political, religious or
traditional power, or the magnitude of terror and
carnage they can create, case in point, the infamous
Adolf Hitler.
What man is, has been the subject of countless
Albert Camus's postulation reflects the foregoing in
no small way, which is why I am reiterating it; "No
man can say what he is. But sometimes he can say
what he is not.” what this seeming paradoxical
postulation suggests is that while man cannot
categorically say what he is, he can define himself by
what he is not, this is consequent upon the fact that he
is not an isolated being, he is a social creature and
based on his social relations with his peers, family
and the larger society, he is able to determine right
from wrong, what is deemed acceptable as opposed to
what is not, he begins to appreciate such virtues as
integrity, patience, consistency, diligence and the
likes.
Armed with the knowledge derived from his various
experiences, he is able to recognize and define certain
attributes people around him consciously or
unconsciously display, and based on his reaction,
transaction, interaction and relationship with the
same environment, he can categorically say what he
is not. For instance he can say that he is not a thief
because he does not steal, he can say he is not a beggar
because he does not beg, he can determine that he is
not lazy because he applies himself to honest and
rewarding labour; these are the parameters by which
he determines what he is not which inversely defines
him.
Some of us are familiar with the story of the swan that
found itself the subject of ridicule by other birds,
these birds in clear terms insisted that the swan was
nothing like them and strongly suggested it left town;
the swan seeing itself as an ugly duckling took to the
cave and stayed hidden until a flock of swans found it,
told it what it was not, it then realized it was a swan,
the best of them.
Whenever you begin to doubt as to what you are, start
by reminding yourself what you are not and the
details of who you are will emerge.

GLANCE: WHEN AND HOW DID YOU
GET THE IDEA OR CONCEPT FOR
ZOBO WORLD?
ALICE - Zobo world was born out of my
desire to have healthy drinks for my family
and my friends whenever they visit. I used to
make it just for the house, a few of my friends
tasted it, liked it and kept on requesting for it.
Some even offered to pay for it...so I thought.
Maybe i can turn this into something bigger,
produce on a larger scale and get it out there to
the public.
GLANCE: WHAT MADE YOU CHOOSE
THIS TYPE OF BUSINESS?
ALICE - At first, I didn't think it was going to
be something I'd be doing full time. I wanted it
to be a side hustle while I look for a job. But
over time, i started experimenting with
different fruits, with alcohol. And I started to
get contentment and satisfaction. And my
desire to get a job dwindled away.

GLANCE: WHAT IS UNIQUE ABOUT
YOUR ZOBO?
ALICE - My Zobo is unique because it's not
the regular one you buy in the market, or on
your street. I use only natural products and a
combination of so many fruits. Sometimes i
lace it with alcohol which of course is based
on personal request. I've had feedbacks from
my customers confirming how unique the

GLANCE: WHAT'S YOUR APPROACH
TO MARKETING?
ALICE - Like I said earlier, social media
makes marketing and advertisement really
easy for us. And also word of mouth and
recommendation goes a long way too.
GLANCE: DID YOU EXPERIENCE
FAILURES AT STARTUP? IF SO, WHAT
DID YOU LEARN FROM THEM?
ALICE - I personally think failures are
somewhat of a constant in a new business. But
ultimately, you learn from them. For instance i
learn to ask my customers a few questions
before preparing their order. Some people are
ginger intolerant, some are pineapple
intolerant. With this knowledge, i know how
exactly to please my client so they keep
coming back for more.
GLANCE: IF YOU HAD ONE PIECE OF

ALICE - I'd advice anyone starting out a
business to be consistent and of course
prayerful. Take your time to know your
business and know your target audience. This
will help you focus and grow tremendously.

MULTIPLE PERSONALITY
DISORDER
B Y Q U E E N I T E E
Health & Wellbeing
Multiple Personality Disorder(MPD) although is a rare
mental condition in Nigeria, it wouldn't cause any harm
to have a little knowledge about it.
Now known as Dissociative Identity Disorder(DID), Multiple
Personality Disorder is a rare condition in which two or more
different personalities live in and posses an individual with the
individual having occassional memory loss that's two extensive to
be explained by ordinary forgetfulness.
DID reflects a failure to integrate various aspects of identity,
memory, and consciousness into a single multidimensional self. In
an attempt to forget a traumatic experience or past, the individual
creates an alter. This alter has a different name, age, place of birth,
occupation, friends and also it's own history. Also, the alter might
be an animal
An individual might live with two or more alters and has no
knowledge of them. When an alter takes control of the individual, it
might take days or weeks before the individual regains his real self
and has no idea what transpired in the days his body was taken
control of.
A personality suffering from DID/MPD often does things beyond
their normal ability, or they seems to remember carrying out an act
and then can't remember what happened halfway or, have a different
thought which isn't the same as the real thing that happened and this
isn't due to forgetfulness, it's simply because the real them did not
carry out or finish the act, the act was carried out/finished by their
alters which takes control of their body.
Sometimes the alters might live in acknowledgement of each other
or deny the knowledge of each other and live in conflicts and critics.
The alters of an individual can be brought out under hypnosis by a
therapist and may be very responsive to the therapist's request.
In many parts of the world, this is linked to spirituality and known as
possession stage, where an individual is being possessed by
different spirits. Possessions like identities also manifest as an
individual being under the control of a supernatural beings.
Possession states become a disorder only when they are unwanted,
cause distress or impairment, and are not accepted as part of a
cultural or religious practice.
SYMPTOMS
*The individual experiences two or more distinct identities or
I s s u e 7 | w w w . g l a n c e n g . c o m | 3 0
Hea h & Wellbeing
personality states (each with its own enduring pattern
of perceiving, relating to, and thinking about the
environment and self).
*Change in sense of self, sense of agency, and
changes in behavior, consciousness, memory,
perception, cognition, and motor function.
*Frequent gaps are found in the individual's
memories of personal history, including people,
places, and events, for both the distant and recent
past. These recurrent gaps are not consistent with
ordinary forgetfulness.
*Individuals with DID are prone to mood swings,
suicide, depression, Insomnia, anxiety and panic
disorder, eating disorder and psychotic-like
problems(hallucination)
Multiple Personality Disorder
CAUSES
DID is caused mostly during childhood in an attempt
to forget a traumatic experience or an abuse.
TREATMENT
The primary treatment for DID is long-term
psychotherapy with the goal of deconstructing the
different personalities and integrating them into one.
Other treatments include cognitive and creative
therapies. Although there are no medications that
specifically treat this disorder, antidepressants, antianxiety
drugs, or tranquilizers may be prescribed to
help control the psychological symptoms associated
with it.
And for those who believe, consulting with Divinity
is a sure antidote to cure the anomaly.
*The symptoms cause clinically significant distress
or impairment in social, occupational, or other
important areas of functioning.

HDigital Fraud in Nigeria
“Madam I am calling you from your bank. Your date
of birth on your BVN is conflicting with the date of
birth on your account with us and it is causing
problems. I can help you resolve this quickly. What is
your date of birth Ma?”. This was how the call from a
fraudster to my mum started out, one thing led to
another and she had given them her card details along
with One Time Passwords that were sent to her phone
by her bank. Then she started getting debit alerts! At
that point, it felt like scales had fallen off her eyes. She
immediately called her account officer, explained
what had happened and her account was frozen,
which ensured the transactions didn't go through and
no money was actually lost. She narrowly escaped
being defrauded but many Nigerians do not get this
lucky!
Some time ago too, my friend got this email that
looked like google was notifying him of a
questionable login into his Gmail account. He did not
realize this was a well-crafted email from a fraudster,
with the objective of stealing his login credentials and
gaining unauthorized access to his inbox to defraud
him. He only figured this out after he lost £10,000
which was supposedly a payment he had sent
instructions to be made, but just like shaggy, it wasn't
him! The fraudster had gained access to his mailbox,
surveyed it and used the information he gleaned, to
impersonate my friend and cause financial loss.
According to a Delloite cybersecurity outlook
released in 2018, social engineering attacks
conducted via emails, SMS and telephone calls, is the
number one cyber threat being faced in Nigeria. In
2017, annual loses to cybercrime to cybercrime was
estimated at $649million and although this number is
growing exponentially year-in-year-out, no single
technology innovation that can stop social
engineering. The single most effective solution to
curb social engineering is creating cybersecurity
awareness. This is the gap, the #NoGoFallMaga
campaign is filling.
#NoGoFallMaga is a national movement of young
people, working to combat digital fraud
(perpetrated by means of social engineering) in
Nigeria with consumer-centered sensitization and
education. Digital fraud in this context includes,
email deception, phone-based scams, online fraud -
particularly where cybercriminals impersonate
trusted organizations. With a focus on the Nigerian
population with access to financial services and
technology, we leverage media channels to creatively
drive awareness on cybercrime on evolving social
engineering tactics deployed by fraudsters; encircling
both the technology savvy and the barely digitalliterate
vulnerable population. We educate the public
on preventive and remedial measures against digital
fraud and mobilize key stakeholders, championing
meaningful collaborations to achieve the campaign's
vision.

Sex andRelationship
HOW TO PUNISH A
CHEATING SEX PARTNER
ost love stories start with a sight, a smile, a
Mtugging of the heart to beat faster or
whatever does it
for someone. Mine starts with a feverish kiss in a less
than 20 square feet convenience in a
stranger's house.
Oh pull up a bit, a feverish kiss in the front seat of a
stranger's white truck with a raving engine in the
middle of the road, then the convenience.
You see there are things you plan to do and losing your
senses to a person is never one of them.
So the story goes like this, a lonely sad girl goes to
visit someone for the first time and the rest is
supposed to be history but the juiciness is in
uneatherning the history. For this purpose I'm giving
myself a name;
Hi everyone, I'm Marcy, and Rachel will be telling my
quick dab into love and lust story.
Here we go!
It was 11am on a Sunday morning and Marcy had
decided to take a chance and text Jayden as a
replica of their first interaction a month ago. She had
gone down to the new sex shop on the ever
busy Marian road to pick out some things last night. It
was already a month since she started fucking
Jayden and she thought it won't hurt to spice things up
a little.
The sex shop attendant had recommended some really
wild stuff and they'd had a good laugh about
how Nigerian men weren't into a lot of things and how
shy they'd be to try some things out with
their partners. Marcy wondered now if she was
perhaps taking it too far. It was just a month for
god's sake and she wasn't even sure where she stood
with Jayden only that they were having mad
sex.
It had all started on a Sunday morning a month ago
when she took an unexpected chance and texted
Jayden for the very first time. They'd been polite to
each other in the book club they were both
members of and she had never thought of him in that
way even though she had a little crush on him.
I mean, everyone had a crush on Jayden, he was the
huge, smart, handsome hunk of the book club
and most of the ladies wanted a piece of him. To her
most delightful amazement he had texted back
and they'd fixed a date to see an hour later in his house.
She had gone over with a bottle of wine and a box of
chocolate cookies, it was as surreal as it was
fun and she knew he was really into her. After a few
glasses of wine, he'd invited her to a little yard
party at his friend's place where they drank some
more. Then the feelings came.
Everyone knows romance tinted with a little booze in
the system is the dopest thing that ever
happened to romance in the history of romance. It
wasn't long before they started talking about
sleep arrangements as it was getting late. Anyways,
Jayden had volunteered to go pick up another
friend at the junction and Marcy had joined him on his
friend's Truck, minutes later she found
herself blurting out how she wanted to kiss him.
"You're tipsy" Jayden had said
"No I'm not. I can totally kiss you right now" she said.
Jayden instantly stepped on the brakes, turned to her
and held her face in his palm while he tilted
his head and planted a kiss on her lips, he moved
swiftly, taking her lips into the inner curves of his.
Their tongues were racing to own the taste of each
other in a dance of their making. Jayden slowly
released her and her eyes opened like a baby's waking
slowing from sweet slumber. She felt tiny
sparkling lights in her head like a fever and soon the
feeling engulfed her whole body.
"You know you're sleeping over at my place tonight"
he said
"I'm on my period and I have to be at work early
tomorrow morning." She retorted
"I don't care."
The rest of the evening was broached by fierce desire
that was felt in pounding hearts, throbbing
genitals and lust filled eyes.
They'd made a quick run to the Convenience at his
friend's house for some good sultry deep kisses
and body groping.
That was also the first day they had sex.
Jayden had immediately grabbed her waist as they got
into his house and started kissing her
hungrily. His hands found her ass and he pressed his
fingers into the soft round cores of her
buttocks, pressing her closer to his throbbing
manhood till they got to his room. He lifted her unto
I s s u e 7 | w w w . g l a n c e n g . c o m | 4 0
his bed and proceeded to undress her hastily. Then he
slowed down as he found the top of her clits
with his fingers. He rubbed them gently with his
thumb then dipped his index finger into her pussy.
Marcy moaned with pleasure as he followed the slow
intense rhythm of his fingers working on her
honeypot while he kissed her feverishly.
"Are you ready to have me in you" Jayden asked
while locking eyes with her. Marcy nodded gently
with fervour in her eyes.
He leaned closer, kissing her more deeply. Then he
rested his lips on her neck, nibbling on them
gently while he groped her boobs. He brought his lips
to her chest, taking her erect nipple into his
mouth while he rubbed the other one. He sucked and
squeezed then licked each nipple in circular
and vertical motions. His lips went back to hers as he
gently led his penis into her vagina.
Marcy moaned loudly and grabbed his back, pressing
her fingers deep into his skin.
He pulled out slowly and drove his dick back in
gently, then repeated same, going deeper than
before. Marcy cried out and grabbed him by the waist
pressing him closer. He pulled back and went
in deeper, then he started thrusting slowly without
pulling out. All the while his hand was on her
boob stroking her nipple, while the other hand held
her by the waist.
He moved in circular motions inside her, hitting
every inch of her sides she didn't know was there.
Then he pulled out again, tapped her clit repeatedly
with his cock, then he grabbed her hair and
kissed her madly as he thrust back into her.
Marcy laid there helpless, her legs were quivering
and she knew she was about to cum. No one had
ever made her cum that way that fast and she didn't
know how to handle it, she lunged forward with
her hips, matching the rhythm of his strokes with the
smooth jerking whine of her hips upward. He
groaned repeatedly in response, intensifying the
strokes and the rhythm until they both came. She
planted a kiss on his lips and wrapped her arms
around his neck in embrace as he collapsed on her
body.
The next morning, Marcy had thought of him the
entire duration of a board meeting and she had
resolved within her that she was in trouble. She was
not going to say no to him ever, or she won't
even know how.
They'd fucked most days every week since then and it
had been just a month.
Now Marcy was wondering if her naughty sex slaver
intentions was going to work this evening and if
perhaps she should take things slowly instead. A buzz
from her phone indicated a new message was
received, it was Jayden.
"Hey girl. What's good?"
"Just chilling, you home?"
"Yep, yep"
"Good then, I'm about to spice your ass"
She jumped off her bed and prepared for her slutty
mission.
At this point, the proverb of a dog who doesn't
perceive the smell of poo when death is knocking
comes to mind.
Marcy didn't look at the succeeding messages when
she wrapped her well toned supple body in
ropes meant as sexy lingerie.
As she leaned by Jayden's door waiting for him to
answer her soft rapping at the door, she heard
giggles. The door opened to reveal a pretty fair lady
with grey eyes. She took the lady's features in
with one quick glance. She was busty and had tiny
waist that gave way to well rounded hips all
covered in clear skin underneath a black mini skirt
and large sized T-shirt that did little to conceal her
perky nipples and dangling large boobs.
"Hello. How may I be of help?" The lady asked
"Um..I'm just...I'm just...I was hoping to see Jayden"
Marcy stuttered.
"Who's there babes?" Jayden asked, strutting
towards the door.
"Oh" he stopped short on his heels upon seeing
Marcy.
"Em...Babes this is Marcy, Marcy this is Shantel, it's
her birthday."
"Well in that case, you must be the one this
performance is meant for" Marcy said, gently
stepping
away from the door and into the room while holding
Shantel's gaze.
"What performance?" Shantel asked, looking
askance at Jayden then back at Marcy.
Marcy unwrapped the ties of the long black leather
coat she wore to reveal butts on black lacy
panties attached to black ropey suspenders that
pressed against her nipples in the middle of her firm
round boobs. Then she bent her back with her legs
firmly standing to create a perfect heart shape of
her butt as she reached for a whip and ropes from her
bag, grateful that she brought them along.
"Oh shit!" Jayden cursed, looking in bewilderment as
the scene unfolded.
"You my darling will stay tied and be a good boy
while I take care of the birthday girl" Marcy said,
pushing Jayden down onto the single seater sofa
where she tied his hands together and tied his legs
apart, one to the coffee table and another to the side
stool.
She gently led Shantel to the opposite seater and
I s s u e 7 | w w w . g l a n c e n g . c o m | 4 1
undressed her then she gently traced her body
with a piece of feather, spanking her everytime she
moaned or tried to reach for her in pleasure.
Marcy reached for her big succulent boobs and
pressed them hungrily then she started ravishing
them with her mouth, licking and sucking at her
nipples. Shantel lunged forward in pleasure but she
pushed her down, then she visited the valley of her
inner thighs with the sizzling feathers, Marcy felt
dampness touch her knuckles that were resting on
Shantel's thighs so she knelt in between them
and licked the thighs till she got to her honeypot and
sucked on her clit. Then she started licking on it
hungrily. Nibbling and sucking at intervals. She
placed her tongue inside her pussy hole and dipped in
and out, then she put her fingers into the throbbing
pussy hole and finger fucked Shantel while she
licked and sucked on her clit. All the while Shantel
moaned and moved her hips in wild circular
motions to match her pleasure till she came.
Marcy then dragged her to Jayden and asked her to
kneel. With his legs apart, Shantel proceeded to
unravel his cock from its holster then she licked round
the ring of his cap before putting the cap into
her mouth. She stroke the rock hard dick gently, then
took its full length into her mouth, deep to her
throat causing them both to release more fluid.
Marcy sat on top of his face with her honeypot against
his mouth. Jayden worked on her pussy with
his tongue while he struggled to place his tied hands
on her supple butt or Shantel's head.
After few minutes, they were on the bed. Jayden was
making hard fast thrusts into Marcy while
Shantel sucked on her boobs and worked on her clit.
Then Shantel sat on her face and stroke her
boobs while she worked on Shantel's honeypot. After
a while they switched roles.
Marcy ordered them to do a doggy.
She tied Shantel's hands behind to her feet and tied
Jayden's legs.
Jayden ate Shantel's ass, sticking his finger into her
butt hole and moving in rings before dropping his
rock hard dick inside her. Marcy hit his ass with the
whip anytime he groaned or relented. After 6
strokes of the whip, she dressed up and left them to
figure out how to untie themselves whenever
they were done.
Well, I'd say a girl has got to do what a girl has got to
do and taking your pleasure while punishing an
offender is certainly a way to go!
Cheers Marcy girl! I think I stan!

DISSATISFIED CHAT
BY MARY UFOT
hen it comes to having a sexually
Wdissatisfied chat, think how you would
feel if, while you were in the bed, giving
your all to your partner, he paused, looked at you,
sighed and then said, "Yeeeah, I'm not really feeling
this. I haven't been for a while now." Talk about
embarrassment.
Am I saying you should bear bad sex? Absolutely not.
But it is important to avoid having the convo in the
very spot where all of the magic happens.
You're probably wondering when and how do I tell
my partner my sexual needs aren't been met?
Here are few Tips to guide you.
Be What You Desire - Be sure you are meeting up
your partner's sexual needs. Do you deserve earthshattering
sex? Most definitely. But you are
significantly decreasing your chances of
experiencing it if you are wanting your partner to do
or be what you are not willing to do—or be.
Speak in Specifics - Engage your partner in a sensual
conversation, talk to each other about what makes sex
good or bad for you. A lot of women want their man to
read their mind and a lot of men want their women to
be specific when it comes to what it is that they are
trying to say. So ladies, be specific when having this
conversation. Open up on what you are so displeased
with sexually. He can't read your mind. He also can't
change what you don't clearly (and lovingly)
articulate.
Seductively guide your partner on how you'll rather
be pleasured. Sometimes, a part of the fun of sex is
figuring things out together. Be patient. Be open. Be
creative. Give things a little (more) time.
Rome wasn't built in a day. For many of us, great sex
isn't either. So, commend one another when you
finally experience the ultimate satisfaction you crave.
Now here is a word to live by.
" Sometimes the best things don't come in the biggest
packages"

great dishonor to her parents than when she tell the
world she was sold for a business deal?
"Helen, we are already late for the church service,
come downstairs and let's go dear," she heard her
mother's voice.
Her mother, Dorcas Adedire, a gorgeous lady who
was in the center of social circle, who supported her
husband Dapo Adedire, the CEO of 'Dire' group who
would do anything to keep his famous company
going, even selling off his daughter, in his decision.
"I'm on my way mom," she replied, forcing herself to
sound excited.
She had determined since the day she beseech, wept
and talked to her parents, telling them not to sell her
off, not to give her hand in marriage to a man she did
not love all for a deal and they had vehemently
dismissed her pleas, that they would never see her
look gloomy over it again but she would amaze them
and they would wish they had harken to her.
She walked down the stairs and into her mother's
waiting arms, she smiled as her mother yank her into
her bosom. She
distached herself
from her mother's
embrace after few
minutes with her
smile still in place
and gestured for
everyone to move
to the car awaiting
them as she pulled
her little bride
towards her and
smiled at the rest of
her bridal train.
Almost time to
bring her plan to
fulfilment.
Iteade sighed sadly, he knew she wouldn't come
despite others' reassurances, he knew she wouldn't.
He glanced at his watch, 11:25am. The church service
should have started twenty five minutes earlier, he
looked at the impatient priest and knew the man had
tried enough, what bride comes twenty five minutes
late for her wedding?
He couldn't fault her, she never loved him. And it
wasn't his fault, when he saw her, he liked her and
knew there was no way he could get her and knowing
her parents would do anything to engrossed a deal
with his father, he asked his father to request that she
should be given to him as a wife to finalize the deal
and mark the beginning of a partnership between

them. He decided the only thing to do was to go up to
the priest and tell him the wedding was over, it would
never happen, she won't show up. He stood up and
sluggishly began making his way up to the podium.
He halted halfway when he heard shouts of "Finally,
the bride is here," and let out the breath he didn't know
he had been holding. Maybe those reassurances were
true, she did come.
He turned to the priest and with an apology, he asked
that he start the service before returning to his place
right when the bride entered with her arm entangled in
her father's.
"Iteade Jeremy Abraham, do you accept to take this
woman as your wedded wife, to love and to protect, in
sickness and in health, in poorness and in riches till
death do you part?" the voice of the officiating
minister boom through the speaker.
"Yes I do, may God help me," Iteade said and he knew
he meant evey one of his words.
The minister turned to the bride, "Helen Ewaife
Adedire, do you accept to take this man as your
wedded husband, to love and to protect, in sickness
and in health, in poorness and in riches till death do
you part?
Iteade stared deeply at her, even after showing up, a
part of him still couldn't get rid of the thought that she
might try something funny and this moment would
tell if she would or not.
Helen smiled, this was the moment she had been
waiting for since the day their wedding date was
chosen. The day she would not care about the
humiliation this would bring to her, but rejoice at the
dishonor it would bring to her parents when she made
it known to the world that her parents sold her off for a
business deal and not that she was getting married to
the man she loved.
deep blue eyes waiting for her to accept him and she
disremembered her parents and her plans. All she
could think of was the man who had loved her, taken
care of her and treated her like a queen, the man who
despite her disdainful treatment towards him, he
never for once maltreated her, he never made her felt
like she was sold off even if she was. She saw a man
who signed an undertaken he would never at any point
a time make her feel less of his wife and should he,
then he would acquiesce to whatever it was she
decided to do.
With the whole congregation at the edge of their seat
in suspense wondering why it was taking long for her
to say 'yes I do,' the minister stamping a foot softly on
the ground to remind her of where she was and what
was happening and the man she was to marry looking
at her with disquietness, she made her decision.
"Yes I do, may God help me," she said with a smile
and she could feel tension leave the room and her
husband expire in relief.
The most amazing of all was she did not feel empty or
burdened like she thought she would should she say
'yes I do,' it was quite the opposite. She felt herself
relived, happy and glad, she felt like she did the right
thing and she knew she wholeheartedly said 'I do.'
There and then, she realized she had loved her
husband all along, she had only been so blinded by her
infuriation at the fact that her parents used her in
engrossing a deal to pay attention to and concede that
she loved him and she knew if she had allow her anger
to decide for her like she had planned to, she would
live the rest of her life in regret.
Ready to put her plan into action, she looked at the

he Himba people of Namibia are indigenous
Tpeoples with an estimated population of about
50,000 people living in northern Namibia, in
the Kunene Region (formerly Kaokoland) and on the
other side of the Kunene River in Angola.
The OvaHimba are predominantly livestock farmers
who breed fat-tailed sheep and goats, but count their
wealth in the number of their cattle. They also grow
and farm rain-fed crops such as maize and millet.
Livestock are the major source of milk and meat for
the OvaHimba. Their main diet is sour milk and
maize porridge
Women and girls tend to perform more laborintensive
work than men and boys do, such as
carrying water to the village, earthen plastering the
mopane wood homes with a traditional mixture of red
clay soil and cow manure binding agent, collecting
firewood, attending to the calabash vines used for
producing and ensuring a secure supply of soured
milk, cooking and serving meals, as well as artisans
making handicrafts, clothingand jewelry. The
responsibility for milking the cows and goats also lies
with the women and girls.
The men's main tasks are tending to the livestock
farming, herding where the men will often be away
from the family home for extended periods, animal
slaughtering, construction, and holding council with
village tribal chiefs.
Himba people, especially women, are remarkably
famous for covering themselves with otjize paste, a
cosmetic mixture of butterfat and ochre pigment, to
cleanse the skin over long periods due to water
scarcity and protect themselves from the extremely
hot and dry climate of the Kaokoland as well as insect
bites. The cosmetic mixture, often perfumed with the
aromatic resin of the omuzumbashrub, gives their
skin and hair plaits a distinctive orange or red-tinge
characteristic, as well as texture and style.
Hairstyle and jewelry play a significant role among
the OvaHimba, indicating age and social status within
their community. An infant or child will generally
have his or her head kept shaven of hair, or with just a
small crop of hair on the crown of the head. This soon
is sculptured, for young boys, into one braided plait
extending to the rear of the head. Young girls have
two braided plaits extending forward towards the
face, often parallel to their eyes, the form of wear

being determined by the oruzo membership
(patrilineal descent group). The style remains during
preadolescence until puberty
The OvaHimba are a monotheistic people who
worship the god Mukuru, as well as their clan's
ancestors (ancestor reverence).
Absurd Tradition.
"When a visitor comes knocking, a man shows his
approval and pleasure of seeing his guest by giving
him the Okujepisa Omukazendu treatment — the wife
is given to his guest to spend the night while the
husband sleeps in another room. In a case where there
is no available room, her husband will sleep outside."
This, apparently, reduces jealousy and fosters
relationships.
Another absurd tradition that has stood the test of time
is the "bathing is forbidden" rule. Rather than take
their baths, the women take a smoke bath and apply
aromatic resins on their skin. They are also guided by
the belief that the colour red signifies “Earth and
blood”. Their red skin is one of the things that make
them extremely unique. The red colour is from the
otjize paste (a combination of butterfat, omuzumba
scrub and ochre) and its function is to protect their
skin from the harsh desert sun and insect bites.
