Water Cooling TowersPalo Verde Generating StationTonopah, ArizonaFiber Reinforced Polymer (FRP) materials andengineering are used to repair support columnsand prevent future corrosion inside the coolingtowers of the nation's largest power producer.These repairs add strength and service life to thecooling towers. PVGS has been reinforcing andstrengthening columns and pipes using differentforms of FRP since 1998.Irrigation Water Siphon Pipe RepairOrchard Mesa Irrigation DistrictPalisade, ColoradoRepair of Siphon 1, a 50-year-old, 54-inch diameterirrigation pipe with multiple leaks due to rust and abrasion.The pipe was located on a steep incline and a coal tarcoating needed to be removed before FRP Constructioncould install FRP to the interior of the siphon, which sealedthe leaks and prevented further corrosion.
