TURN TO THE PROS
It may seem tempting to rely on friends
or family to get you to and from your
wedding, but trust us—this is one to-do
best left to the professionals. They’re well
versed in wrangling large crowds and will
know local roads well, which comes in
handy in the case of closures or accidents
that could delay your day. Reach out to
transportation companies in your area at
least four to six months ahead of your
celebration to ensure you have the pick of
the fleet. Working with pros also has the
added benefit of a contract (important!),
which can guarantee everything from a
prompt delivery at the altar to a clean,
photo-ready vehicle—after all, you have
more important things to do than remind
cousin Vinny to get his car washed before
he drives you to “I do.”
MIX UP YOUR MODE
Sure, a limo is the first mode of
transportation that comes to mind when
you say “wedding.” But if that doesn’t fit
your vibe, don’t stress—there are so many
other options out there.
Think of your trips to and
from your venue as an added
element of your wedding décor
where you can nod to the vibe of
your day and add even more
personalization. Hosting a formal affair at
a luxe estate? Make like 007 and hire a
vintage Aston Martin as your getaway car.
Likewise, if you’re swapping vows on the
water, set out aboard a sailboat adorned
with a “Just Married” flag.
DON’T FORGET THE GUESTS
No man (or woman) left behind!
Show friends and family some love by
arranging easy transportation options
for them throughout your wedding day
or weekend. Although Uber, Lyft or a
taxi service are likely an option in your
area, it’s not worth risking potential
unavailability on the day of (plus, you
don’t want guests to have to shell out
their own cash). Whether it’s a party bus
fit for 40 or a line of prepaid taxis waiting
outside the hotel, plan a few safe ways
to get your guests to and
from your celebration in
advance. If you decide to let
your theme inspire your ride, why
not get creative with your groups
as well? Vintage trolleys, oversize golf
carts and open-air Jeeps are all fun,
festive ways to transport a crowd.
READ THE PAPERWORK
Be mindful of the fine print in your
contracts. Depending on the company,
you could be on the hook for any
unforeseen issues, like an accident that
damages another car, stains from spilled
champagne or extra hours if your
reception runs long. Also make note of
whether you’re responsible for gas and/or
mileage fees, and whether the tip is
already included. You can compile your
own paperwork too—in fact, we
recommend it! Make sure each vehicle is
equipped with a one-sheet of info that
includes everything from the address of
your venue to timing instructions and
important phone numbers. ››
