Beds, Bucks & Herts

will be hosting an exhibition titled ‘Our Garden’, which

responds to the ethos of the garden city movement and

its environmental ethics. The Digswell Arts Trust has

historical links to the garden city dating back to 1957.

Dragon Boat Races

July sees celebrations get a little livelier as companies

and local clubs take to the water at Stanborough Lakes

on 5 July, competing in the ancient water sport of

dragon boat racing. There’s still time to sign up or you

can simply watch from the banks and cheer on the

teams.

Carnival

On 11 July everyone is invited to the celebratory carnival

in the town centre. Events will be held all day, with plenty

of activities for children and a full procession. A fun, free

In addition to this, there’s concerts, heritage days,

talks and plenty of sporting activities. Of course, an

anniversary like this wouldn’t be complete without a

Royal visit – a request has been made, so watch this

space!

If you can’t make the WGC 100 anniversary events, there’s still plenty

of reasons to visit this part of Hertfordshire. With spring flowers, warmer

days and Easter coming up, it’s the perfect opportunity to visit the area’s

attractions.

Hatfield House

Hatfield House was once the childhood home of Elizabeth I, but

today, the stunning estate offers plenty for visitors to enjoy. Explore the

Jacobean craftsmanship throughout the House, period mementos and

visit the gorgeous gardens, which feature a number of sculptures, creative

landscape designs, colourful fauna and flora, a maze and walkways.

Finish your visit with a browse around the Stable Yard shops and tea and

Shopping at The Galleria

The outlet shopping centre is home to over 80 stores including well

known retailers and specialist brands. Kids can burn off energy at Get

Wild, a jungle themed adventure area, while teens and adults can relax at

the cinema or dine at one of the many cafes and restaurants.

Mill Green Mill and Museum

Set in a beautiful riverside setting, the 18th century working watermill

and museum features three exhibition rooms packed with local art and

historical items. Craft workshops and fun activities for children are held

here throughout the year. On milling days (Tuesdays, Wednesdays and

Sunday afternoons), visitors can see the watermill power into action,

while on warmer days guests can make the most of the river setting

with a picnic and walk in the Mill Green Jubilee Garden.
