Programs and Facilities<br />
Campbelltown Library<br />
A program of events is offered all year round at the<br />
Campbelltown Library. Events and programs this year have<br />
included very popular astronomy nights with a member of<br />
the Astronomical Society of South Australia, an Eco Fair<br />
with stalls featuring several local groups attracting over 600<br />
people and various South Australian History Festival events.<br />
A Dino Day was held during Science Week with around 800<br />
attendees. Live streaming of the Adelaide Writer’s Week<br />
Festival was provided, and monthly exhibitions occurred in<br />
the Gallery space.<br />
Partnerships allow the Library to offer enhanced programs<br />
to the Community. Staff partnered with the Good Things<br />
Foundation Australia and the Office of the eSafety<br />
Commissioner to deliver Be Connected programming.<br />
Staff obtained grant funding to deliver Be Connected<br />
sessions during Get Online Week. Other partnerships<br />
included with Digital Springboard delivering digital skills for<br />
employment and with University of SA, Community Services<br />
Learning Project student placement to provide IT training for<br />
Community members.<br />
Volunteer numbers during the year varied between 88 and<br />
115 as some left and new Volunteers started. They gave<br />
over 8,000 volunteering hours to the Library assisting<br />
with services and tasks such as shelving, deliveries to<br />
housebound patrons, IT help, assistance with Storytime,<br />
Toy Library helpers and Games Group supervisors. Justices<br />
of the Peace contributed nearly 2,000 volunteering hours.<br />
The Friends of the Campbelltown Library Group ceased<br />
after 19 years of supporting and raising funds for the Library.<br />
Council would like to thank all members for their work over<br />
that time.<br />
The Library recorded 241,726 visits in <strong>2018</strong>/<strong>2019</strong>, and the<br />
Toy Library had 39,873 visitors. A total of 508,765 items<br />
were borrowed during the year, including books, magazines,<br />
audiobooks, CDs, DVDs and Blu-rays.<br />
Attendance at children’s programs remains steady, with<br />
7,268 children attending Storytime through the year, 3,095<br />
for Wriggle & Giggle sessions, and 2,651 for School Holiday<br />
Programs.<br />
