Committees<br />
Audit and Governance Advisory Committee<br />
The Committee comprised Mr Roberto Bria, (Chair) Mr<br />
Leigh Hall OAM, Ms Amanda Harfield, Cr Neville Grigg (until<br />
November <strong>2018</strong>), Cr Matthew Noble, and Cr Elena Casciano<br />
(from December <strong>2018</strong>).<br />
The Committee met 6 times during the year and reviewed<br />
matters in line with the Terms of Reference of the Committee<br />
and the Committee’s work plan.<br />

Economic Development Advisory Committee<br />
Prior to the November <strong>2018</strong> Elections the Committee was<br />
chaired by Cr Max Amber with Cr Dom Barbaro and Cr<br />
Neville Grigg as Elected Member appointments along with<br />
Ms Tracey Powell, Mr Brian Hales, Ms Chris Kourniotis and<br />
a representative of the EBEC (Eastside Business Enterprise<br />
Centre) as independent members.<br />
The Committee met on two occasion in July and September<br />
<strong>2018</strong> considering items such as how to progress and<br />
resource the Economic Development Plan and regional<br />
projects through ERA (Eastern Region Alliance) and EBEC<br />
as well as activating the Brookside Cellars.<br />
Following the Elections a new Committee was appointed<br />
consisting of Cr John Flynn as chair of the Committee<br />
and the following members: Cr Dom Barbaro, Cr Luci<br />
Blackborough and independents Ms Tracey Powell, Mr<br />
Brian Hales, Ms Chris Kourniotis and a representative of the<br />
EBEC.<br />
The Committee met on two occasions in March and May<br />
<strong>2019</strong>, considering items to progress outcomes from the<br />
Economic Development Plan as well as recommending<br />
budget bids to Council for consideration including;<br />
activation and improvements to Brookside Cellars,<br />
development of co-working spaces, business mentoring<br />
programs and providing economic resources.<br />
Reconciliation Advisory Committee<br />
This Committee was chaired by Mr Shouwn Oosting and<br />
comprised Mayor Simon Brewer (until November <strong>2018</strong>),<br />
Cr Jill Whittaker, Cr Marijka Ryan (until November <strong>2018</strong>),<br />
Ms Wendy Noble (until November <strong>2018</strong>), Mayor Jill Whittaker<br />
(from December <strong>2018</strong>), Cr Dr Sue Irvine (from December<br />
<strong>2018</strong>), Cr Luci Blackborough (from December <strong>2018</strong>), Ms<br />
Nicole Lungershausen, Mr Russell Jackson, Ms Lisa Hanson,<br />
Ms Renae Agius and Mr Ivan-Tiwu Copley (from April <strong>2019</strong>).<br />
The Reconciliation Advisory Committee focussed on<br />
prioritising and reviewing Council’s Reconciliation Action<br />
Plan. The Committee continued to develop and implement<br />
a number of activities from the Reconciliation Action Plan<br />
including:<br />

Council’s ‘innovate’ level Reconciliation Action Plan<br />
adopted by Reconciliation Australia and Council.<br />

Supporting annual Youth NAIDOC awards<br />

<strong>Annual</strong> Reconciliation event including Aboriginal<br />
education programs for 320 children from East Marden,<br />
Thorndon Park and Charles Campbell College primary<br />
school students. A Community bus trip for 32 residents to<br />
the bush tucker garden tour at the Botanical Gardens.<br />

Rollout of lending Council’s Library Kaurna History Box to<br />
local schools<br />

Attending Reconciliation SA Breakfasts for Anniversary of<br />
the National Apology and Reconciliation Week<br />

Employment of an Aboriginal apprentice at the Council<br />
Depot.<br />
Service Clubs Advisory Committee<br />
Up until the <strong>2018</strong> Local Government Periodic Elections this<br />
Committee was chaired by Cr Rob Tidd and comprised<br />
Mayor Simon Brewer, Cr Neville Grigg, Ms Paddy McKay, Mr<br />
Chris Ward, Mr Trevor Symonds, Ms Alexandra James, Mr<br />
Bryan Schell, Mr Ian Coat, Mr Graeme Packer and Mr Geoff<br />
Edwards. Following the elections the Committee has been<br />
chaired by Cr McLuskey and comprises Mayor Whittaker,<br />
