Local Government Elections<br />
Local Government elections were held across the State in<br />
November <strong>2018</strong>. Twenty-seven candidates nominated for the 11<br />
positions available at the Campbelltown City Council; elections<br />
were conducted for the Mayoral position and each of the 10 Ward<br />
positions. The voter turnout equated to 31.2%.<br />
Information about currently serving Elected Members is provided<br />
in a section of this report (page 21).<br />
To become an Elected Member, a person needs to be:<br />

Eligible in accordance with the Act (Local Government<br />
(Elections) Act 1999)<br />
»»<br />
Willing to nominate and run a campaign (when there are<br />
more nominations than positions), and<br />
»»<br />
Aware of the high commitment required to be an Elected<br />
Member.<br />
The Act provides further information on the requirements for<br />
Local Government Elections, how they are to be conducted,<br />
who can nominate, who can vote and how the votes are to be<br />
counted. The Local Government Association also provides<br />
information about elections on their website www.lga.sa.gov.au.<br />

The next general elections for Council are scheduled to be<br />
held in November 2022.<br />
