Thisincludes strengthening networks of supporters and civil societyactors, including women- and youth-led groups, helping them toimprove collaboration and grow their knowledge, scale of activityand reach to end corporal punishment.04
Global Initiative to End All Corporal Punishment of Children • Global report 2019Recognising the value of collaboration,throughout 2019, we have been activemembers of the Global Partnershipto End Violence Against Children, inparticular contributing to its CSO Forumand the development of the global#SafetoLearn campaign. We also tookpart in the UN High Level Political Forumon Sustainable Development, where thevital importance of ending violence againstchildren (Target 16.2) was reiterated.Ending corporal punishment and allviolence against children requiressustained collaboration betweengovernment departments and agenciesand with a broad range of serviceproviders, professional bodies andnon-governmental and civil societyactors, including faith-based, youth andmarginalised groups. Building alliancesand working as a coalition allows manydifferent actors to play a role, each bringingtheir own specialism and audience, anddemonstrating support for law and policyreform across different sectors.The journey is long and requiresknowledge and evidence, motivationand above all perseverance. Our globalnetwork of supporters is therefore vitalin achieving our mission to end corporalEnding the abuse, exploitation,trafficking and all forms of violenceagainst and torture of children, isof particular importance to achievesustainable development. Through our diverse groupof almost 2,000 partners across all worldregions, we show solidarity in numbers,we encourage collaboration, we learn fromeach other’s successes and setbacks,and we establish partnerships forsustained activity.The Global Initiative maintainsand supports this network with acomprehensive hub of evidence, targetedadvocacy resources and the provision oftraining, technical assistance, connectionsand translations to support their work. Wealso provide a platform for partners toshow case their work, share their learningand grow their own networks, and wecontinually seek to expand our globalnetwork and the support that we provide.To this end, in 2019, we published a shortguide to law reform, launched a newAsia-Pacific newsletter, and expandedour website to include guest featuresand targeted information relating toeach region and different areas of work.We have translated our country reportsin 26 languages and we continue tomaintain all 237 reports in English. We alsolaunched websites in French, Spanish andPortuguese, packed with information onglobal progress, human rights mechanismsand a range of resources to supportadvocacy, and we are preparing to launchsites in Arabic, Chinese and Russian soon.A big thank you to all of ourpartners and supporters forcontinuing this vital work to keepchildren safe.
