We proudly look back at a very successful year in 2019. A year in which

have made us the technology leader for vehicle maintenance and care for

more than 30 years.

For the year 2020, the focus will be on the automechanika Frankfurt trade

fair, where we will convince again with new, but also tried and tested solutions

and concepts. Of course, preparations have been in full swing and we

are happy to present our latest product innovations to you. We will continue

MARTIN

KOENIGER

Interview with the Technical Manager and

Head of Quality Management

2 | BCG Insider 2020

:inside

Mr. Königer has been working in our company since June 2018 and

contributes significantly to the success of the bluechemGROUP with his

daily work.

Hello Mr. Koeniger, you have been in our company

for some time. Please introduce yourself

briefly to our readers.

Hello Mr. Wust, I’d be glad to! My name is Martin

Koeniger, married and was born in Saalfeld in

1977. I completed my education in the state administration

of Baden-Wuerttemberg. Immediately

afterwards, I was with the German Armed Forces,

which has influenced me very much because of

the variety of foreign assignments and I was also

able to get to know many people and cultures.

After my military service, I was a project manager

at a family-operated, medium-sized company.

As head of quality assurance for an automotive

supplier, I was able to consolidate and expand

my experience and knowledge in the years before

I switched to the bluechemGROUP.

That sounds like a very interesting CV.

So, you are well prepared for your position at

the bluechemGROUP?

That is right. In my past positions, I have already

acquired a great deal of knowledge about process

optimization in similar industries. Nevertheless,

the processes in our company are even more

complex and yet more dynamic, which enables

us to reach our destination as quickly as possible

without excessive bureaucracy. The last one and

a half years showed me that we were already

very good in terms of process optimization, but

there is always a need for optimization.

Do you work with all departments in the

company? What position do you have in our

company and which specialist and topic areas

do you serve?

Correctly! As head of management systems, I

work with almost every department daily.

Only in this way we can continue to guarantee

that defects in the processes are prevented

and optimized as quickly as possible. And this

is demonstrated by our accurate recertification

of DIN EN ISO 14001: 2015 and DIN EN ISO

9001: 2015. My main job as Technical Manager

is mainly responsible for Product Management,

Production, Engineering, Purchasing and Quality

Assurance.

So many tasks and so much responsibility

sound like a very busy working day. Is there

any "typical" working day at your place?

I do not have the typical working day as one imagines.

My topics cover mostly operational issues

and issues that require quick decisions. So, my

task is always to focus on every request and to

judge or decide on "hard" and "soft" aspects.

Where is your personal appeal in all these

tasks?

I've always been an advocate of working processes.

Together with my colleagues, we will

continue to expand the efficiency and stability

of our production, considering economic and

ecological standards. We will win the best

suppliers to continue to be a reliable partner for

our customers, to offer the best product quality in

all markets and to establish our new standards.

The constant development and improvement of

our management systems are also of the highest

relevance. But also special projects, such as new

product developments, always give me pleasure

in my daily work. I am just a person who is very

open to new ideas.

That sounds like you're passionate about

what you do. Is there something that you

particularly like about the company?

MARTIN

KOENIGER

Interview with the Technical Manager

and Head of Quality Management

Continuation interview

What I already noticed on the first day is the firstclass

cooperation and the unique coexistence

among the colleagues. But also the international

work, the innovative power and above all the

quality and effectiveness of the products are the

reason for my passion for the company. All this

does not mean that my tasks get less, but that

makes it a whole lot easier.

Do you have special wishes or goals that you

want to achieve together with the bluechem-

GROUP?

In any case, I am already looking forward to the

future projects and challenges with the entire

team. And by 2020 we will certainly not lack

projects. I also wish that the motivation and

enthusiasm of the team will continue and we will

establish our brands even more globally.

Mr. Koeniger, thank you very much for the

insightful interview and the interesting

insight into your work.

DIESEL ORGANIC

CLEANER

INNOVATIVE PROTECTION AGAINST

DIESEL CONTAMINATION

Anyone who has ever had an infested diesel tank knows the consequences

and costs that come to those affected.

Bacteria, yeasts, fungi and algae excrete biomass through their natural metabolism, which can develop into a kind

of plug in the diesel fuel for all lines, from the tank to the injection nozzles. This blocks the fuel and thus prevents the

necessary combustion in the engine.

Conventional additives are usually biocides, which kill the microorganisms. However, since December 1st, 2018 it is

prohibited by a new EU guideline to offer these products for sale. Strict legal measures alone make it possible to sell

biocidal products to traders. These include requirements such as: keeping a poison book, legal proceedings of the

product as biocide, an application and sale declaration and many more.

For more than a year now, the

research and development

department of the bluechem-

GROUP has tackled the problem

in order to fight bacteria, yeasts

and co, without having to resort

to biocides that are harmful to the

environment.

Jens Möller, Head of research

and development department of

the bluechemGROUP, says "We

took a completely new approach

to the topic. We do not work from

the outside as usual on the microorganisms,

but simply deprive,

the necessary nutrient medium for

their metabolism. This prevents

that the biomass, that is critical

for the engine, can be produced

and in addition, the bacteria die

out due to the lack of metabolism,

or even cannot be produced.

Some of these substances

disappear even faster than before

in the traditional way with this

methodology. This has already

been confirmed by initial tests by

independent laboratories“.

Andreas Huck (product manager

of the BCG): "The demand for

a biocide-free product against

the diesel oil pest has been

steadily growing since the end of

2018. With our new DOC Diesel

Organic Cleaner, we now have

a solution that already prevents

the spread of microorganisms in

tanks and thus blight’s the feared

diesel oil pest in a nutshell. In addition,

the remaining suspended

solid is bound to a homogeneous

liquid and can be burned easily

and residue-free.“

REGIONAL

SWEDEN

Micael Hellberg, Gunnar Gren, Luis Fernandez, Einar Noreng, Mohamed Saleh

From June 26 to 27, 2019, the second regional meeting

of the bluechemGROUP took place in Gothenburg /

Sweden. After a detailed presentation and evaluation

of the participants from Norway, Denmark, Finland and

Sweden, the most recent market requirements of each

country were examined extensively on the first day.

“Particularly noteworthy is the continued strong increase

in hybrid and electric vehicles,” says Bjørn Thomas

Fosdal (Lütken&Co.as Norway). Reasons for the strong

growth he sees in the many demands by the state. “For

example, no taxes are raised on electric vehicles, no toll

is required, or free parking is provided in the inner cities,”

continued Fosdal.

With our E-Mobility line, we have already created and

the Scandinavian countries. In the future, we will be

us. Only in this way we can deal with the current market

DR. SALVATORE

SERPE

AUTOPROFI Italia (API) has been one of the most important partners of the bluechemGROUP.

At almost 96 percent, Italy is the country with the largest bluechemGROUP product portfolio

worldwide. Dr. Salvatore Serpe is the co-founder of the API and will answer questions today about

the development of the company and its personal relationship with the company.

Hello Dr. Serpe, thank you for taking

the time to answer our readers a few

questions.

Hello Mr. Wust, thank you very much for the

request. Of course, it is a pleasure for me to

talk about my company.

Mr. Serpe… or rather Dr. Serpe, what the

“Dr.” stands for?

I have received several Dottore in the course

of my life. In addition to the titles in various

foreign languages, literature and philosophy, I

also graduated in economics. All the courses

were the perfect preparation for what I am

doing now.

And what you are doing is more than

presentable. How long have you been

supporting the bluechemGROUP team?

Thanks for the kind words! I have known the

bluechemGROUP for over 20 years. I've been

working with and for the bluechemGROUP for

over 15 wonderful years now. And I wish that

there are many more.

What does it mean for you to cooperate

with the bluechemGROUP?

For me, working together has become a kind

of life task. The buildup of the sales and

communication network, from the Alps to the

Mediterranean, was and is a huge project,

which was put into practice by theory. There

are still a lot of opportunities to continue and

push the sales in Italy and that is not least due

to the trust that my customers have built with

me and the bluechemGROUP over the years.

I think, I am not only speaking for myself

here when I say that you have created

something in Italy that you can be proud

of. We are, anyway! And with an annual

turnover of more than 1.7 million Euros

in relation to the customer group density,

you definitely are at the very top of our

company - with almost no additional

employees. What is your secret?

It is not so much a secret, but rather a mixture

of self-discipline for the organization, passion

for our products and concepts, a very good

instinct for the local market, a fantastic

teamwork with my colleagues in Italy and also

Germany, and simply enjoyment at work.

You said your instinct for the economic

situation in Italy is very good. How do you

rate the market and what is your forecast

for 2020?

You can feel the recession in the market.

Nonetheless, I was able to increase my sales

once more compared to the previous year and

assume that it will rise even more in the

coming year. I'm a positive person and I just

know that the end is far from over.

What was your best experience so far at

the bluechemGROUP?

The most impressive experience I had a few

years ago at the Automechanika in Frankfurt.

We sat together with the entire exhibition team

in the evening at an Italian and suddenly all

began to sing. That was just amazing. In such

moments, you realize that everyone around

you has become not just colleagues, but

rather friends and family - an absolute goose

bump effect. Likewise, it's just nice every day

that my clients trust me so much.

A businessman like you certainly has other

personal goals?

Of course! I want to expand the network even

more, even if the economic situation is

14 | BCG Insider 2020

In an interview

with the Regional

Manager Italy

and co-founder of

Autoprofi Italia

currently not optimal. The goal is to strengthen

our 3 brands even more: PRO-TEC and

bluechem as the professional workshop brands

which already enjoy an excellent reputation,

and AUTOPROFI as the mid-price variant from

the bluechemGROUP.

Do you have a wish for the

bluechemGROUP that could help you to

realize your project?

We cannot stop and lose our reputation as a

technology leader. Innovations are the heart of

the company. If we stop implementing such

fantastic ideas as we have done all these

years, in a few years we could be similar to

one or the other competitor. But here I am sure

that we will continue to listen to the market and

find a solution to every problem.

That's when I know that we still have a lot

in development and that we do not stop

implementing new innovative ideas. So far,

we have been able to solve all the problems

and we will continue to do so in the future.

WORKSHOP

STORY

Running out of air

If one of our workshop customers must solve a difficult

problem, our sales managers are usually not far away.

They are nearby when the high-quality products of the

bluechemGROUP eliminate such difficulties with little

effort. Just like in the following story.

Michael Gänslein reports of a Mazda 3, which already had

a mileage of 120,000 km (75.000 miles). This recently

showed the error message that there was too little intake

air. With our products, the problem was solved quickly and

easily.

“Already at the first closer look, I noticed the

strong coking in the intake and the restless

engine noise was an indication that something

was wrong. Therefore, I decided to use our Triple

X plus and our Diesel Applicator Spray to dissolve

and remove the coarsest coking in the injection

and intake system. After the treatment with these

products, the engine already ran smooth and the

error message was no longer displayed. In order

to remove the last dirt from the diesel system, I

decided to use our diesel system cleaner. This

not only cleans but also protects the entire

injection system from new dirt. ”

The customer was very satisfied with the result and was

pleased that the original engine performance of his vehicle

could be restored quickly and without problems.

Further questions on this case can be answered via

Philip Geipel

– from Supercar to Off-Road Allrounder

Formerly successful at the ADAC GT Masters, the year 2019 was for Philip Geipel under the motto

“back to the roots”. Following in the footsteps of his father Uwe Geipel, the Saxon now started in the

Rallye Motorsport. Already the first race, the Saarland-Pfalz Rally in March 2019, he and co-driver

Katrin Becker mastered with flying colors and reached the fourth place of the overall ranking. In the

sporty Skoda Fabia R5 of Kahle Motorsport, the team has prevailed against several experienced

rally drivers.

After a breathtaking season, with some highs and lows, then something happened what no one

expected. “We made it!!! In the season finale, 3rd place in the German Rally Championship

defended and thus exceeded all expectations of my first rally season. The 3 city rally was the event

of the year for me. Insanely exciting and demanding evaluation tests around Freyung did not make

the task very easy for us. With a lot of points scored and in the end also with one or the other quite

proper time, I think we showed the potential. There is still a lot to learn, but I'm looking forward to

what's coming. ” said Philip Geipel after the season finale.

The bluechemGROUP is happy about this success and wishes the Plauen pilot a

lot of success!

BluechemGROUP rider Chris Gundermann had a fantastic season in this year's MAXXIS Cross

Country Championship. With 10 points in front of the challenger Mark Scheu, the 26-year-old

from Thuringia won the last GCC. In Supersprint 2019 he also scored a magnificient season

finish with the runner-up!

Chris Gundermann after his last race in Buehlertann: “Another successful year is coming to an

end. Last weekend, I celebrated my third consecutive GCC Pro title. Also, in the Supersprint

class I am very satisfied with the second place. It was a tough fight again and all the time and

energy invested paid off in the end. Thank you for the energetic support and strength every single
