By Aurélia Becquart
As we enter this new decade, it is rather important that the major fashion breakthroughs
of the 2010s shall be recapped! During the past decade, the industry was marked by the
rise of social media and influencers who have largely changed the industry, more
inclusivity amongst the actors of fashion, and influences of subcultures and movements
on iconic trends.

STREET-STYLE
Although street-style fashion wasn’t born in the 2010’s, this was the period where it became
ever-present in the fashion world. This is thanks to the emergence of social media where
models and celebrities post candid snaps of them in casual wear.
Streetwear is simply
fashionable casual clothes:
T-shirts, hoodies, sneakers,
track pants, etc. It emerged as
an antidote to the general
fashion trends, arose from
countercultures like skate
and hip-hop. It also opened
the gate to a new
demographic that was
previously “not allowed” to
show an interest in fashion,
men. Brands like Off-White,
Supreme are a direct
illustration that street-wear
fashion has also extended to
the luxury industry.
