ALUMNI NOTES 2011 1 | AMY MIRLISENA Amy is working for an incredible trilingual charter school in Nashville,TN. She was offered <strong>the</strong> lead kindergarten teaching role and is also directing <strong>the</strong> school's first musical this fall. 2 | KELLY CANAVAN Kelly graduated (for <strong>the</strong> second time) from The Ohio State University. She graduated Cum Laude with a D.D.S. from <strong>the</strong> dental school and has started her residency program in Columbus. Featured is a picture from graduation day. One of her longtime CHCA friends, Lauren Taylor '11 came up to Columbus to see her pal graduate! Very fun to now have a dentist in <strong>the</strong> family. Congratulations Dr. Kelly Canavan! ABBIE MAROSI APRILE Abbie (Marosi) and Joe Aprile live in Nashville, TN and have a nine-month old son named John (Jack) Lewis. 2012 3 | ANNMARIE KADNAR RILEY James '13 and AnneMarie moved back to Cincinnati in <strong>the</strong> fall of <strong>2018</strong> after she got her dream job at Greenacres Foundation, not too far from CHCA! She manages <strong>the</strong>ir herd of horses daily and <strong>the</strong>ir pasture management system with multiple species of livestock. James is a fire fighter for Colerain Township and <strong>the</strong> City of Forest Park, as well as an investigator for fires and explosions for Hamilton County. In <strong>the</strong>ir free time, <strong>the</strong>y train search and rescue dogs. They currently have four dogs, three working: one for Kentucky Emergency Management (KYEM), one for FEMA, and one in training for KYEM. ANNA CAMBELL Anna graduated from Lipscomb University in 2016 and decided to go back to nursing school. She is in her second semester of at Columbia State Community College. 2013 ABBY BOWMAN Abby recently moved from Columbus, OH to New York City as she transitioned to a new position for Nationwide Financial as an Education Specialist. She travels in and around <strong>the</strong> Nor<strong>the</strong>ast to train and teach clients who use Nationwide products, specifically focusing on <strong>the</strong> Retirement Plan sphere in areas of corporate relationship management and bilingual education. She recently stopped by Ohio to run <strong>the</strong> Flying Pig Marathon, and has really enjoyed getting to explore all that <strong>the</strong> Nor<strong>the</strong>ast has to offer. 36 4 | EMILY TAYLOR KIRBY Emily and her husband Robert, along with <strong>the</strong>ir two fur babies Zoey and Cooper, live in Summerville, SC while Emily attends grad school for her Master’s in Physician Assistant studies at Charleston Sou<strong>the</strong>rn University. Robert is working downtown at MUSC as a nurse in <strong>the</strong> Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit. They will reside <strong>the</strong>re until she graduates in December of 2020, and from <strong>the</strong>re will go wherever <strong>the</strong> Lord takes <strong>the</strong>m, because Robert is aspiring to go back to school as well for his Doctorate in Nursing as a Certified Registered Nurse Anes<strong>the</strong>tist. Emily is beyond grateful for her program because Charleston Sou<strong>the</strong>rn University is a Christian university, and <strong>the</strong> faculty/ students are incredible guides to have in her training. What drew her most to <strong>the</strong> program was <strong>the</strong> fact that <strong>the</strong>ir mission statement included <strong>the</strong> mission statement of CHCA: “...integrating faith in learning, leading and serving.” Every day in class she is learning to "...be a Health Care Provider who shows <strong>the</strong> love of Christ to every patient I have <strong>the</strong> privilege of taking care of." This season has a lot of growth and learning involved, but she is so thankful that her education and growth at CHCA grounded and prepared her to flourish as a future Physician Assistant! JESSICA HOLLIDAY Jessica is in her second year as <strong>the</strong> Spanish-Speaking Social Worker at Be<strong>the</strong>sda North OB/GYN Center. She works with every pregnant woman who has stated <strong>the</strong>ir preferred language is Spanish. She provides case management and counseling to 120 (and increasing) patients and <strong>the</strong>ir families. She leads groups on family planning, safe relationships, mental health, nutrition, etc. for six prenatal educational groups. Jessica also works with YWCA on <strong>the</strong>ir Immigrant Survivors of Partner Violence Committee and recently presented to <strong>the</strong> community on new ways to discuss family planning and safe relationships with immigrant communities. 2014 JESS ELDER Jess graduated from Cedarville University in May <strong>2018</strong> with a degree in English. She currently works at Cedarville University's Centennial Library while also pursuing a Master's in Library and Information Science (MLIS) through Kent State University in <strong>the</strong> hopes of one day becoming an academic research librarian. She enjoys working with college students and helping <strong>the</strong>m with <strong>the</strong>ir literacy and research needs. She still calls Cincinnati home, and when not reading, she enjoys exploring <strong>the</strong> city with her Scottish Terrier, Maggie, in tow! 5 | CAROLINE KUREMSKY Caroline graduated from Butler University with a degree in elementary education in May of <strong>2018</strong>. She was named one of <strong>the</strong> university's Top 15 Students. She is now living in Indianapolis, IN teaching <strong>the</strong> 5th grade. Caroline teaches at <strong>the</strong> Reggio Inspired, Butler University Laboratory School. In <strong>the</strong> fall her school was visited by several CHCA teachers and administrators who traveled for inspiration to bring back to Cincinnati. What a cool experience to have both of her worlds collide years down <strong>the</strong> road. When not in her classroom, you can find Caroline on <strong>the</strong> field at Lucas Oil Stadium as an Indianapolis Colts Cheerleader. This is Caroline’s second season on <strong>the</strong> team, and she is finding it a great way to make meaningful connections and friendships post-grad, while also continuing her love of dance. Within <strong>the</strong> Colts organization Caroline has had <strong>the</strong> opportunity to not only cheer on <strong>the</strong> sidelines, but also participate in numerous community appearances. While Cincinnati is her alma mater, Indianapolis has quickly become her “home away home.” 6 | ANGELA CARVER Angela graduated from Auburn University in May <strong>2019</strong> with a Bachelor's of Engineering in Ecological Biosystems Engineering and a Bachelor's of Science in Organismal Biology. Her team won <strong>the</strong> North American finals of Schneider Electric's "Go Green! In <strong>the</strong> City" business case competition in July of <strong>2018</strong>. She later accepted a job as a Performance Assurance Consultant in <strong>the</strong> Energy and Sustainability Services division of Schneider Electric. She trained in Dallas, Texas for <strong>the</strong> summer of <strong>2019</strong> and <strong>the</strong>n planned to move to Birmingham, Alabama. 7 | MATTHEW OVERSTREET Mat<strong>the</strong>w celebrated graduating this past spring. 7
