ROAD Closure on
Belle terre bOULevard
Belle Terre Blvd will be closed between Magnolia Trace Blvd and Citation
Blvd as crews work to replace (4) 48” metal Stormwater culverts beneath the
roadway and multiuse path/sidewalk.
The closure will last an estimated 60 days between from 12-11-2019 through
02-10-2020, and detours will redirect traffic to U.S. 1 and State Road 100/E.
Moody Blvd. City staff worked hard to time the project to provide little impact
to school bussing routes and we have notified Flagler County Schools as well
as emergency personnel.
Your city will update if the duration or timing of the project changes in any
way.

Pet of the Week
Animals ready for homes
In the animal welfare field we are often asked how we can work
with the sadness of helpless homeless animals day in and day out.
The following letter is from Howard, one of our hardest working
volunteers who you may have seen around town helping animals
get adopted into loving homes. This story embodies how and why
we do what we do. Yesterday as I was beginning my day set-up in
front of Tractor Supply, I met a gentleman who mentioned that he
had adopted a dog from the Flagler Humane Society somewhat
recently. I have been volunteering long enough that unfortunately I
do forget details whenever dogs are adopted but I always ask
hoping that I do. This man only had to say the dog he adopted was
named “Momma", I immediately knew exactly which dog he was
talking about. Momma had come to several Outreach events at the
beginning of the year. Although she wasn't especially old, you could
clearly see that her life was probably not that easy prior to arriving
at the shelter. Although she had a gentle personality, it was obvious
that she had some health issues and when you first looked at her
you could tell she had been used for breeding many more times
than was necessary. It was a few months later that she was
adopted. Although I wasn't involved, I felt a sigh of relief when I got
the news and wished her, like I do all the animals we adopt, a much
happier life going forward. So when I asked the man how she was
doing, he said "She's right here in my car if you'd like to see her.” I
followed him to his car and when he opened up the door, there she
was. However this was not the same dog as I remembered.
This version of “Momma” no longer looked like a "shelter dog", now
she looked very content and well taken care of … I was pretty sure
she still remembered me, but I'd be just as happy if she 100%
forgot life before her new family. Seeing her so happy carried over
& for the rest of the day I was in a good mood. The man said she'd
been doing well with the other family pets and below are the photos
the man sent to me when I asked. Jose, I know I stand for everyone
associated with the Flagler Humane Society in saying "Thank You"
for taking a chance on this deserving dog …. this photo (on the
right) is the greatest early Christmas gift you could give to the
people who did the best they could to keep her spirits up until she
found you.
