YEAR IN REVIEW
Our year in review
It’s been a busy and exciting year for Northumberland.
Here’s a snapshot of some of the work and events that took place
during 2019 to help boost jobs, the local economy, improve our
environment and our communities.
JANUARY
We launched the Discover our Land
campaign to shine a spotlight on the
county as a great place to visit, raise
a family, to build a career and to
establish, invest and grow a business.
FEBRUARY
A passenger train ran from Morpeth to
Bedlington for the first time in decades,
as the council continues to progress its
plans for the Northumberland Line - a
rail service which could connect
Ashington with central Newcastle in
just over half an hour.
MARCH
We secured an extra £8 million of
government funding to improve the
county’s road network. This is in
addition to the £19 million invested
by the council to repair and maintain
the county’s roads and pathways.
