BRITISH TRAVEL AWARDS 2019
Northumberland wins
silver at prestigious
travel awards
THANKS FOR
YOUR SUPPORT
Northumberland has won silver in the UK Holiday
Destination of the Year category at the British Travel Awards.
This is a fantastic achievement and we’d
like to say a huge thank you to residents,
businesses and visitors who showed their
love for Northumberland by voting for
the county.
Tourism is vital for Northumberland,
bringing in over £900 million to the local
economy each year and supporting nearly
15,000 jobs, so an award like this really
helps to shine a spotlight on the county
as a great place to visit.
Northumberland was pipped to the post
by Cornwall, another stunning county -
and although we may be a little biased
- we still think we’re the best!
The British Travel Awards are the largest
and most influential poll of consumer opinion
of leisure travel and tourism providers.
The accolade follows a major social
media campaign led by the council and
Northumberland Tourism to encourage
the public to vote. It also comes hot on
the heels of Northumberland being
named Seaside Staycation of the Year
at the first ever Staycation Awards.
