end of the day, we would be giving them 

our old clothes and even our gifts. But it 

did instill a sense of understanding for 

not only how fortunate we were for how 

little we have when you see others with so 

little. As an immigrant family, you get to 

see life how it realty is for some and why 

I have never turned away any charity for 

free advertising or even helping a small 

business grow despite not having enough 

money. Businesses are surprised to know 

we offer free ads for help wanted. 

So we wish everyone a safe happy holiday 

and proud to be a part of helping our 

LGBT grow and thrive.

Art District has been featuring 

local artists for the past 5 years. 

The complex is composed of a 

variety of spaces where artists 

have their galleries and some also 

have a working studio. Most of 

the galleries are open from 11 - 4 

weekdays, however, the working 

artists maintain their own personal 

schedules and flexibility is the 

concept. All of the galleries are 

open the first Wednesday of every 

month from 6-9 p.m. for the 

FIRST WEDNESDAY ART WALK 

displaying recent art that has been 

created. 

There is a rich diversity 

representing the arts found in the 

Backstreet District. A few of the 

artist's galleries were featured in 

this column during the past year. 

The Maxson Studio and Gallery is 

one featured in the DDG. Included 

in their exhibits is the art and craft 

of Greg and Linda Maxon. Linda 

works in ceramics and found

are arranged around the inside of 

the gallery showing a continuous 

painting evolving from underwater 

to landscape fantasy scenes. Each 

panel tells a story within itself and 

also acts entirely as a stand-alone 

painting which can be removed from 

the panorama of paintings.
