ENGKAN2 IS 2019’S BIGGEST
HALLOWEEN PARTY!

SHAKE RATTLE
Regine Tolentino, representing Flanax, led the
Zumba, warming up 1k, 3k, 5k runners (and
even organizers). At the latter part of the event,
she also held a Zombie Zumbathon, cooling
down the runners and participants.
ENGKAN2 OUTBREAK.
SHAKE RATTLE
Runners were able to interact with Filipino
mythological monsters such as the
manananggal, kapre, duwende, white lady,
black lady, diwata, vampires and other famous
movie horror characters.
Halloween was filled with horror and heebie-jeebies with Shake, Rattle and
Run‘s second installment, Engkan2. Terrifying and cute costumes conquered
the streets as we celebrate and create fun and excitement. Unlike any other
Halloween affair, RUN4UrLife proudly offered this breakthrough event which
triggered our goose pimples while sweating for a healthier lifestyle.
RED SPORTS UNVEILED SHAKE,
RATTLE AND RUN: ENGKAN2.
The event is Metro Manila’s biggest fun run
and night party during Halloween. Creeps
and cold bits filled the CCP Complex on
Saturday, October 26. It gathered loud shouts
and hysterics as actors spontaneously spook
participants in the venue. Cash prizes and
exciting gift packs also awaited the winners of
the action-packed event.
SHAKE RATTLE
Moreover, kids, and even adults, went trick
or treating in every booth, gaining candies,
chocolates, and lollies along the way!
COSTUME COMPETITION
RED Sports and Casino Filipino held a costume
competition which participants happily took
part in. A creepy Valak went in third place while
Mr. Bean ignited childhood nostalgia, placing
in second. A realistic Annabelle doll sat on her
rocking chair, winning the first place.
After the fun run event, DJ Carlo Granadil
definitely rocked the stage as participants and
organizers alike partied the night away.

its queen! Liz Mabao of Rizal Province
took home the crown as Miss Scuba
Philippines 2019. Not to mention, she will
get the chance to represent our country
in the upcoming Miss Scuba International
2019 in Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia.
THIS BEAUTY PAGEANT STANDS OUT
THAN WHAT WE TYPICALLY SEE,
ESPECIALLY SINCE IT ADVOCATES
THE PROTECTION OF OUR OCEANS
THROUGH BEAUTY.
Certainly, Liz Mabao proves worthy of
the title and what it stands for. She is a
21-year-old Communication graduate
from the University of Santo Tomas.
Additionally, she is a certified PADI open
water diver. What more could we ask for?
Her eloquence, as well as her skills, gave
her an edge as a Miss Scuba.
LIZ MABAO ISN’T NEW TO THIS TYPE
OF COMPETITIONS TOO.
As a matter of fact, she was a finalist
for Miss Earth Philippines last year. This
queen, of course, has a court to support
her cause in every step of the way. It
includes Cria Villanueva (Taguig City) and
Sheikha Manglicmot (Lemery, Batangas)
as the 1st and 2nd Marine Ambassadors,
respectively. Meanwhile, Maricres
Castro of Pilar, Sorsogon and Jacqueline
Formoso of Muntinlupa won as runnersup.

Where fortune favors creative content
and luck is but another face for charisma,
video blogging (or vlogging) in the
Philippines has caught on by the majority
more than anyone expected. Popularized
by ​YouTube​, the Internet’s biggest video
sharing service, vlogging’s rise brought
in several content creatives and pools of
talent that would usher a new era for the
country’s digital media.
Professionally called ​content creators or ​
YouTube influencers, these people record
themselves doing the craziest challenges
or the most mundane of things, and post
them online for people to watch. Either
for online clout, for reach, some product
placement, or simply just for laughs, their
videos amass thousands upon thousands
of views, shares, and likes. But who would
watch such basic of human interactions in
video form?
Well, that’s the thing.
The videos vloggers put out are either so
simple or so out there that people will be
compelled to watch. The relatability is
why vlogging has become so engrossing.
When they do it, vloggers only need to
come as who they are.
Two of these ​YouTube ​influencers are
making waves online with the content
they’re regularly posting. Definitely
not the first vloggers to make it big in
the country and certainly not the last,
newcomers ​Benedict Cua​ and ​Mimiyuuuh ​
are out to put smiles on our faces.

“Vlogging is really just documenting your
daily life and making it more creative and
interesting, but also being authentic about
it.”
BY THE NUMBERS
Chinese by blood, ​Pinoy at heart: ​
Benedict Cua has found his calling as a
content creator for ​YouTube​. With more
than ​930,000 followers and a total of ​
31,472,427 views for his ​116 vlog entries (as
of this writing), Ben only started vlogging
in 2018. His first entry was posted on April
15​, 2018 — and he hasn’t stopped ever
since.
PIPE DREAMS
Ben had been fascinated with the
workings of the ​artista​ life even as a kid.
Although, he did think about being an
actor, his priorities was already set in
finishing school. The business-minded
young adult that he is, Ben pursued his ​
Bachelor of Science Degree in Business
Management at ​De La Salle University
first.
Busy working for the corporate world
and eventually their family business, Ben
never really had the time to do anything
serious with his pipe dreams.
“Not until I took workshops with ABS-
CBN’s Star Magic and I became
acquainted with some of my YouTube idols.
Doon na nag-realign ‘yung passion ko,”
h​e opens up.
He was almost 26 years old when he
finally found a different kind of courage.
He convinced himself to start his own
vlog. With his family’s blessing and some
friends’ support, Ben made a full 180 and
changed careers to become a ​YouTuber​.
PERSONAL STYLE
Ben’s vlogging idols influenced much of
his style and delivery. Moreover, he has
been pretty vocal about being a fan of ​
Alex Gonzaga, Wil Dasovich, ​and Baninay
Bautista​. You can definitely see these
three celebrities’ impact on him as a ​
YouTuber​. Blending his own style of humor
and consistency to the content he posts,
Ben has become a role model for viewers
— young and young-at-heart.
“My viewers have always called me
kuya. Because of that, I feel like I have a
responsibility to make sure I become the
older brother they can look up to. But still
be chill with,” h​e says with all smiles.

BENEDICT 'KUYA'
A ​kuya for keeps, Ben’s online older
brother status may have come
from his name itself. In ​Filipino ​
pabebe and text speak, ​kuya can
be shortened to ​kua or ​qua or,
sometimes, ​cua.​ Although, this may
purely be coincidental. But the way
he infuses on-point words of wisdom
to his videos is certainly a good way
to use influence.
“I have always advocated kindness
in my videos. I feel like ‘yun ang
kulang these days. Every time you
post something online, it really
gets amplified. So with this kind of
power, you can encourage people to
be kind and to be understanding,” ​
he answers when asked about
how he can use his influence for
the good​. “Growing up insecure
about myself, I feel like I can share
how I’ve overcome those. Youth
empowerment is also what I aim for,”​
he interjects.

A late bloomer to vlogging, ​Jeremy
Sancebuche ​posted videos simply
for the fun of it. If you don’t know
who Jeremy is then you may know
her as the internet sensation that is ​
Mimiyuuuh​.
Having posted her first vlog entry
just last March 9​, 2019, she’s already
garnered a whopping ​1.51 million
YouTube followers. With only ​
44 entries to date, she’s already
amassed ​45,164,913 video views in
just 9 months. For a vlogger who’s
barely even starting, this kind of
success makes her one-of-a-kind.
CLAIM TO FAME
Initially doing the occasional parody
and dance cover, she transitioned
to doing regular vlog entries earlier
this year. She finally gave in after her
friends continuously urged her to
start her own ​YouTube​channel.
Known for her phenomenal parody
of ​Dalagang Filipina, ​and as well
as the comical dance cover for the ​
Kahit Ayaw Mo Na​ song, Mimiyuuuh
has become a household name in
the online community.
PURSUIT OF HAPPINESS
“I can’t say na pang lifetime ko na
‘tong vlogging. But if ever, I’d be
happy to do it for many years to
come. Pero may goals din ako, and
I want to make them come true,”
Mimi exclaims​.
Despite the spotlight she’d been
put under, Mimi still has personal
dreams to pursue. Having graduated
with a Bachelor’s Degree in Fashion
Design and Merchandising​ from ​De
La Salle-College of Saint Benilde​
and owning a clothing brand she
started from scratch, she believes
she can juggle both fashion and
content creation should she ever
return to doing to her first love for
the arts.
“I want to help people find their self-confidence. But they also need to
hype themselves up. I started out na wala and I worked hard to be where
I am. Luck lang talaga na nag-trending ‘yung videos ko. Pero if you take
away all of those, I’m still me. Mas hyper nga lang in person. I guess ‘yun
ang rason bakit nag stick out ako. Yung pagiging true sa sarili sa harap ng
camera,”​ she opens up while kidding around with Ben behind the scenes.
STAYING HYDRATED
With the pressure of fame slowly
creeping up, Mimi makes sure she
enjoys the experience and exposure
she’s getting. It’s definitely been a
once-in-a-lifetime experience to
be where she is now. Furthermore,
she knows the impact she has on
people, so she puts out content the
best way she knows – with humor.
If reminding people to drink water

On this auspicious time of the year, two
young stars – two very different entities –
have aligned yet again.
Although, if you think about it, you might
say they aren’t even stars at all. But if
you glow from your own (ring) light and
people look up to you because you’re
you, it does seem like you’ve become a
public figure – and to be well known for
being who you are is a feat only few can
achieve.
Separately, Benedict & Mimiyuuuh have
successfully embodied their own selves
in their vlogs. Together, though, they
become even funnier and bubblier than
usual.
COLLABORATION
IS THE KEY
When they collaborated for the first
time last April 12th, their personalities
immediately clicked on-screen. To a point
that their witty banter felt too natural.
People then started noticing a funny kind
of chemistry you’d see in odd couples.
Thus, #MimiDict was born.
Destined to cross online paths, and fated
to become vlog buddies, MimiDict has
already made 8 collab videos in the past 7
months. Furthermore, these one-time
“​24-hour-magjowa​” and “one-night-standchallenge”
influencers certainly know a
thing or two about public image.
When you’re an online influencer, you
have to open up a part of your lives to
the world – and Benedict & Mimi have
allowed us to enter their lives so easily.
“How people perceive you through vlogs
and who you really are should be the
same if you want to be genuine about your
content,” ​Ben says.​ “Plus, a little humor
doesn’t hurt,” ​he adds.
“And staying true to yourself is important.
Ako lang ’to, okay? Kami lang ‘to!” M​imi
chimes in.
What makes these two form an effective
power duo is the way they interact with
each other. Full of innuendos, double
entendres, and wholesomeness aside,
Benedict & Mimi’s collab videos almost
always never fail to cheer you up.
They definitely have a solid friendship
in the works. Most of their dialogue are
unscripted so the random mix of tension
and lightheartedness we see from them
are genuine.
With the right editing and sound effects,
the punchlines hit you hard. And as what
Mimiyuuuh says, “gusto ko ‘yung hard”

Vlogging, in general, requires one to
be the best version of themselves… or
even the worst. What’s important is that
vlogging show us who these people are in
high definition video format.
To be a good vlogger, one needs to be
creative, to express themselves, and most
of all to be patient.
Vlogging needs time and effort to do. The
input these creators have to make before
the camera even starts recording is as
important as the content itself and as well
as the post-production.
This platform may not be suited for
everyone, as not every person can
pull it off effortlessly. But with enough
practice and exposure, anyone can
become a vlogger. Like Benedict Cua
and Mimiyuuuh who found (and are still
finding) their place in the world of content
creation, you only need to be yourselves,
too.

SETH FEDELIN’S RISE TO FAME
With such a ruthless industry, this young
King’s reign started even before he started
fascinating viewers with his quick wit and
undying charm. He has been working hard
to help his family even before he became
the Hope-pool Son ng Cavite. Seeing kids
on television inspired his desire to be an
actor and fueled his drive to the same
craft.
“Bata palang ako napapanuod ko na ‘yung
mga batang artista. So, sumagi sa isip ko
na gusto ko ‘yun.”
Intriguing and comical, his vibrant desire
also remains a joy to experience that
brings a long line of daring and devious
monarchs to life. He didn’t let his shyness
trample over his aspiration to become
an actor. With his eagerness, he went to
an audition and became one of the most
notable names out of Pinoy Big Brother:
Otso.
“Dati, gusto ko lang mag-audition. Kaso
nga lang, nahihiya ako… Kasi, as bata,
naiinggit ako sa ibang kabataan [tapos]
ako wala… Nung medyo lumaki na ako,
sabi ko na lang sa sarili ko na, ‘Wala
namang mawawala kung mag-a-audition
ako.’ So ayun, lumabas ‘yung Star Huntnakita
ko siya sa online, sa TV. So, sinabi
ko kay Papa na mag-a-audition ako.”
BECOMING A LEAD
Kadenang Ginto
Then, this young majesty never knew
he would receive a remarkable role in
Kadenang Ginto. Roped with commitment
and intensity, Seth also knew that it was
up to him to snatch up the crown and
become royalty outside the PBB house.
“Nung after ng PBB, hindi ko in-expect
na may kalalagyan ako sa labas… Kahit
nakita ka na ng mga tao, wala pa ring
kasiguraduhan na may makukuha ka
bang project paglabas mo. Depende pa rin
siya sa’yo kung paano mo aabutin ‘yung
mga gusto mong maabot paglabas mo ng
Bahay ni Kuya.”

SETH FEDELIN AS MIKOY IN
KADENANG GINTO
Although he has such a big role in
Kadenang Ginto, he actually didn’t know
he was going to be in the show. With that
said, the show actually made him think of
his capabilities as an up-and-rising actor.
Setting his anxiety aside, he still gives
his undying effort to make his character,
Mikoy, relatable and believable.
“Hindi ko siya nalaman kaagad, eh. So,
sinurprise lang ako ng road manager ko,
manager ko na magka-Kadenang Ginto
daw ako. Siyempre, may halong kaba kasi
maraming artista dun na makakatrabaho
ko. ‘Kaya ko ba?’ ‘Yun agad pumasok sa
isip ko… Kaya ko bang makipagsabayan
sa kanila? Kasi, baka mamaya hindi ko
pala kaya ‘tong trabahong ‘to… Nung
nagsimula na ako sa Kadenang Ginto,
ginawa ko lang ‘yung 100% ko.”

SETH VS MIKOY
Seth Fedelin has been portraying the said
character for a long time. So, sometimes,
it can be difficult to decipher who is Seth
and who is Mikoy. With that said, Fedelin
also shone a light on his one similarity
with him: the reality that they faced as
younglings.
“Kami ni Mikoy, parehas kaming alam
namin ‘yung realidad. Alam namin ‘yung
tunay na meaning ng buhay tapos maaga
kaming namulat sa ganitong klaseng
pamumuhay. Kasi si Mikoy, nag-hirap
siya. Ako at ‘yung pamilya ko, dumaan
kami sa ganyang time. So, ‘yun ‘yung
pagkaka-parehas namin. Tapos ‘yung
pagmamahal ni Mikoy sa lahat ng tao
at pagpapahalaga sa isang bagay kahit
maliit man ‘yan o malaki.”
Swayed with their hardships, he knew
one difference he and his character has:
the undying familial support. Seth Fedelin
knew that his family will continue to
love him. He also knew that no matter
happens, they will be there for him for a
very long time.
“Pinagka-iba namin… Si Mikoy, iniwan
siya ng tatay niya. Ako, hindi. Suportado
sa akin ‘yung tatay ko. Kahit ganun
‘yung buhay namin at dumaan kami sa
hirap, hindi kami iniwan ng tatay ko.
Kasi ‘yung tatay ni Mikoy, nag-hirap sila
tapos iniwan. So, walang wala na talaga
si Mikoy noon kaya naging batang kalye
siya. Ako, thankful ako na kahit ganun
‘yung buhay namin, hindi ako iniwan ng
mga magulang ko.”
THE ANXIETY BEHIND A STAR
Acting in front of the cameras.
Acting comes natural to Seth. However,
such pressure can break down his walls.
The cameras and the screaming crowds
put butterflies into his lungs that keep on
bumping his heart. The fear of making a
mistake also comes in but he continues to
push through it.
“Kasi diba nagsimula ako sa movie.
Sa shooting, sobrang kabado ko noon.
Kasi, eto na ‘yun- ang daming tao, may
camerang nakaharap sa’yo, aarte ka na…
Na-pressure ako, kinakabahan, takot.
Tapos pag magsho-show, kapag kakanta,
tapos ang daming tao- sobrang lakas ng
tibok ng puso ko na parang may butterfly
dito sa baga ko na lumilipad.”

“Pag nakikita ko pa lang, doon ako
kinakabahan. Pero pag nandoon na
mismo… Kunwari may show, kumakanta
na ako tapos nakikita ko na ‘yung
mga taong natutuwa sa ginagawa kosasabayan
ko ‘yung tao. ‘Kung masaya

makinig at magtiwala. Kagaya sa mga
shooting, sa director mo ganyan. Hindi ka
naman ipapalabas sa TV ng pangit ka, eh.
Ico-correct ka nila. Magsasalita lang sila
sa’yo pero hindi bilang insulto- inaayos ka
nila kasi may gusto silang mapuntahan
mo. Kaya masaya ako sa ginagawa ko.”
Performing in front of screaming crowds.
To combat the pressure and anxiety he
feels, Seth also puts his faith in front as
he prays for everything to go well. Being
unaccustomed to screaming crowds, he
remains thankful for the support that he
constantly receives.
“Dasal lang talaga. Sinasabi ko, ‘Lord,
sana ligtas ako dito. Sana ligtas ‘yung
mga tao, sana walang mangyaring gulo.’
Tapos, ayun, kakanta lang ako sa isang
sulok- maglilibang. Kasi minsan nakakapressure
‘yung sigaw ng tao, eh. Hindi
naman ako sanay sa ganun, eh.”
“Yung sinisigawan ka ng tao, nasho-shock
pa ako, nagugulat pa ako hanggang
ngayon. Kaya, dasal lang. Nag-tha-thank
you lang ako. Dati, nangangarap lang
tapos ngayon, nakakapag-perform na ako
sa harap ng maraming tao. Nag-tha-thank
you lang ako kay Lord, nagdadasal na
sana tulungan niya ako.”

STARTING FROM THE BOTTOM
Everything happens for a reason. If you
want to achieve something, you have
to work for it —that’s what Seth Fedelin
holds to heart. This young royalty doesn’t
like waiting for an apple to drop at his lap.
However, he will definitely work for it until
he becomes known for it.
“Lahat ng bagay na dadating sa’yo, maliit
man o malaki, pahalagahan mo. Tapos,
kung may gusto ka man na marating,
‘wag kang kakapit sa salitang, ‘Kung para
sa’yo, para sa’yo.’ Ako kasi, kung para sa
akin, kukunin ko. Kumbaga, kung may
gusto akong marating, pupuntahan ko.
Hindi ‘yung maghihintay na lang ako…
Kung may gusto ka, magsikap ka. Kasi
andiyan lang naman ‘yan, eh. Huwag mo
na hintayin.”
With the crown on his head, Fedelin
knows to be grateful of whatever
hardships he has experienced in his past.
“Thank you. Kasi sa lahat ng dinanas
mo, nabuo ‘yung pagkatao ko. Kasi,
hindi ako nagsisisi na dinanas ko ‘yung
mga naranasan ko noon. Kunwari, nung
na-stroke si Papa, hindi ako nasisising
nas-stroke si Papa. Kasi, may reason
kung bakit nangyari ‘yun. Kasi, kakauwi
niya lang ng Saudi nung bigla siyang
na-stroke. So, kung na-stroke siya sa
Saudi, wala siyang kapamilya doon, mas
mahirap… Walang Seth ngayon kung hindi
niya naranasan ‘yung mga dati niyang
nakaraan.”
A MESSAGE FROM SETH FEDELIN
A royalty chosen by the public, Seth also
knew how to thank his supporters that
he proudly calls his family. Why not? He
gives them a certain warmth. He also
gives them a certain want that his family
truly enjoys.
“Hindi ako magiging si Mikoy, hindi ako

nangyayari sa’yo, may rason. Halimbawa,
hindi ako naging housemate, naligwak
ako, baka mamaya naging seaman ako.

ibang paraan, hindi sa pagiging artista, sa
pagiging seaman. Think positive lang. Kasi
‘pag nag-isip ka ng negative, negative rin
‘yung gagawin mo.”
“Kapag narating mo ‘yung pangarap mo,
‘yung mga taong naging hagdan mo,
huwag mo silang kakalimutan. Kasi isa
rin sila sa mga tumulong sa’yo kung bakit
narating mo ‘yan. Once na nakalimutan
mo sila, parang napaka-selfish. Aminin na
natin, hindi natin kayang mag-isa, may
tutulong at tutulong sa atin.”
