Magical Christmas days out with the

National Trust

If you’re looking for fun, festive days out this Christmas, here’s what’s on with

the National Trust at these great places in Yorkshire:

Beningbrough Hall, Gallery

& Gardens, near York

Inspired by the resident

wildlife, look out for 14

scenes of winter wildlife

by artist Gerard Hobson,

hiding amongst the trees and

garden buildings.

There are swallows and

drumming woodpeckers

to find as well as a pair of

boxing hares, mice, weasels and stoats.

Father Christmas will be calling into Beningbrough too. Join him for

Storytime – Rewashed! A new and unforgettable experience in the

Victorian laundry to hear all about his adventures and travels…and

his holiday washing, once he’s found his suitcase! Places limited,

booking is essential.

Brimham Rocks, near Harrogate

During Christmas week, come for midwinter storytelling to celebrate

the myths and legends inspired by the season and the magical

landscape of Brimham Rocks. Join storyteller Noel Watkins for

interactive storytelling as he sparks your imagination through a series

of stories, songs and riddles inspired by the winter season. Booking is

essential.

Fountains Abbey & Studley

Royal, near Ripon

Come to Fountains Abbey

for a full festive day out with

your family. Have a winter

adventure to find Christmas

trees dotted around the

abbey and water garden.

Book to see Father Christmas

and get stuck into making

crafts. The abbey will also

be twinkling with colourful

light, and you can listen to Christmas music with choirs every

weekend.

Nunnington Hall, near Helmsley

Visit Nunnington Hall and see how Christmas would have been

celebrated over the centuries. See indulgent feasting from Georgian

times, how the Christmas tree was introduced by the Victorians, as

well as Christmas decorations from the 40s and 50s. How many

traditions from Christmases gone by do your family still do together?

Ormesby Hall, Middlesbrough

Experience the house at Christmas, with trees, twinkling lights and

decorations with an angelic touch. On weekends families can find

the angels through the house and follow the twelve days of Christmas

trail in the garden. They can also settle down for a story with Mrs

Christmas or make paper chains and baubles to hang on the tree.
