ADONIS 10TH ANNIVERSARY PARTY AT EVOLVE

HUNTER

BY IAN-MICHAEL BERGERON
@ianmichaelinwonderland
The other night, I was
invited to a party at the
new Nordstrom on 57th
Street, which opened the
following morning.
I admit I was a bit
surprised: Barney’s filed
for bankruptcy back in
August, its future unsure
(talk is they might be
closing their stores for
good), and last year we
lost one of my favorites:
Henri Bendel closed
every single store after
123 years. (I was able
to snag two hat boxes
in their final month,
displayed proudly in my
bedroom.)
So why, when similar
department stores
are going bankrupt or
out of business, would
Nordstrom decide
to open yet another
location? I decided to go
and see.
Markus Kelle worked
the door, escorting me
past the red carpet,
where Katie Holmes was
being photographed in a
stunning black dress and
polka dot tights. An aisle
full of the most gorgeous
20-something boys in
New York were waiting
just inside, holding trays
full of champagne and
various mixed drinks.
(I went for the bubbly:
I usually do.) More
beautiful boys wandered
the seven floors with
trays of delicious food.
On the second floor,
there was a short line
for dumplings
and the like. I
popped a beef
slider into
my mouth,
chasing it
down with
champagne.
The store
is one of
the most
beautiful
I’ve
been in, there’s no
denying it. Each floor
has sky-high ceilings, and
everything is spacious.
Each product has room
to breathe, as did I while
I looked around. And
speaking of the product:
Everything, and I mean
everything, is beautiful.
(Dries Van Noten, Comme
des Garcons, Givenchy…
the list goes on and on.)
I tried on a bright-pink
Saint Laurent jacket
that cost $17,000—it
took everything in me
to take if off again. (I do
wish I’d dressed up: My
turtleneck, jeans and fur
coat did not stand out
amongst the glittering
sequin dresses and shiny
silk tuxedo jackets of
everyone at the event.)
My boyfriend and I
wandered around,
casually nodding at
Winnie Harlow and
watching supermodel
Karen Elson play guitar
and sing. He bought me
an adorable teddy bear
that I keep on our bed; I
bought him a new wallet,
and—random, I know—a
Opening Night
gold
candle snuffer.
(We’ve legitimately been
looking for one, and it
was only $12!)
When we’d had our fill
of free hors d’oeuvres,
free champagne and Lady
Bunny’s DJ set (located
conveniently next to
the cute boy dolling out
cotton candy, who my
boyfriend wanted to keep
visiting “for more cotton
candy”), we took our new
buys and went home—
picking up a gift bag on
the way, containing a
$185 bottle of Bergamote
22.
I left in a bubbly, happy
haze, smelling wonderful.
But I wonder how long
Nordstrom will be able to
stay on its feet. Beyond
that, am I ready to let
another Henri Bendel into
my life, knowing our time
together might be short?
Regardless, at least I’ll
always have my teddy
bear.

THOMAS
TALKS
ABOUT: TOO SOON?
Relationships are
sometimes about
taking chances, but
that doesn’t mean you
should blindly jump into
things. If you want a
relationship to work out,
take your time and get
to know someone for
who they are, not just
who you want them to
be.
Things are starting to
get serious with a guy,
but he’s just coming
out of a long-term
relationship. They
were together for over
three years, and I met
him basically the night
after they broke up.
We started hanging
out, but it wasn’t
until a couple weeks
later that he told me
he was just coming
out of something.
Now I’m afraid I’m
just a rebound and
wondering if I should
just end things.
Obviously, he’s going
to want to have his
freedom and sleep
with other guys. -Male,
Gay, 24
I used to think that
after a breakup
everyone needed time
to themselves to heal.
I don’t think that’s the
case anymore; I think
it has more to do with
how the relationship
ended. If it was a
tumultuous relationship
with lots of drama, then
yeah, just back away
and give him time. But,
if it was a mutual break
and there isn’t a bunch
of bad blood, then it’s
more likely the person is
ready to move on. In the
latter, he’s accepted that
the relationship fulfilled
its purpose, has learned
from it and could be
ready for something
new. If it was extremely
dramatic… you can
probably expect yours
with him to be too.
People have patterns:
Look closely.
Three months ago,
I met who could
potentially be the love
of my life. We have
been doing everything
together and having
an amazing time.
We’ve even started
talking about moving
in together. He lives
in Astoria, and I live
in Brooklyn, so the
commute is pretty
rough. After a long
day, blah. Neither of
us have ever lived with
a boyfriend before,
and our friends think
we’re nuts. When is
the right time to move
in with someone?
How do I know if it’s
a good idea or a bad
idea? I don’t want to
mess things up, but I’m
VERY excited about all
of this. I’ve had shitty
relationships in the
past, and I’m nervous.
-Male, Gay, 22
NYC is very expensive.
I can absolutely
understand the appeal
of splitting the rent
with someone. Think
back to those “shitty
relationships” in your
past. When did you
know it was “shitty”? It
probably took longer
than three months.
You’re very young,
and I know this is very
exciting, but if there
isn’t a real reason
to NEED to move in
together, put it off. Yes,
there are people who
have made it work, but
it is very fast. I think you
should take some time
and continue to get to
know each other, then
in another three months
reconsider. Or, you
could even move closer
together now and see
how that works. Baby
steps… if you both like
each other, no reason to
rush into it!
The Leading Men of Helix
INTERVIEW > > > >
Kyle Ross and Max Carter were one
of the longest-running gay porn power
couples—together for six years and
even engaged to be married—when
they surprised everyone last year by
calling quits to their relationship with a
tweet.
The Twitter world was all aghast,
but Max quickly posted to fans his
assurances that, “It’s going to be OK.
Everything will work itself out, and life
will go on.”
And somehow, it has. Ross and Carter
continue to have jobs in production
and behind the scenes at Helix, and
have been able to maintain a healthy
relationship as coworkers. They may
not be the first couple of Helix Studios
anymore, but they are still the leading
men of the popular adult studio. We
spoke to both from Helix Studios’
Vegas headquarters.
HOW DID YOU BECOME ONE OF
THE LEADING MEN OF HELIX?
Kyle Ross: I brought in a new era of
hardcore twink porn to Helix, and years
later, my first scenes are still listed
on the top-rated page. Shooting a
porn film can be nerve-racking! Every
inch of your body is captured and will
be played over and over again by
hundreds of thousands of viewers. It’s
important to prepare and get it right
the first time. I figure that showing up
clean and pretty is 80% of the battle,
and after all that work, I might as well
give the performance everything I’ve
got. From my videos, one would think I
love eating cum and getting facials, but
I only do it for the camera.
WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR MOST
MEMORABLE SCENE?
Kyle Ross: The most memorable is
from the 2018 summer blockbuster,
“Vegas Nights.” That movie had a
70-page script. It was very hard work,
and we spent over 12 hours each day
on set filming. The producers bought a
stretch limo for that film that we still use
to cruise around Vegas in, partying on
the Strip. The orgy scene won a 2019
Grabby’s award, and I’m very proud to
have been a part of it.
WHAT WOULD YOU NAME AS YOUR
FAVORITE SCENE TO SHOOT?
Kyle Ross: “Kyle’s Anal Application.”
The storyline was about me trying to
rent an apartment in San Diego that
already had multiple applications
turned in. So what is a cute li’l twink
to do? Anything! I get fucked by the
Realtor so he’ll accept my application
over the others. That scene was my
favorite, because my partner, Hayden
Clark, was a real-life “straight guy.” I’m
really not into the polished twink types.
I’m gay because I love sexy, rugged
men. Nothing beats a manly “straight”
guy who wants to pound some smooth
twink hole. His beer can cock was so
nice and thick. It looked like I was being
split in half! I always prefer the huge
dick scenes. Somehow, they’re easier!

WHAT WAS YOUR MOST DIFFICULT SCENE
TO SHOOT?
Kyle Ross: For me, the most difficult scenes to
shoot are those with other twink models. Luckily,
Helix Studios has pivoted from a “twink site” to
jock after we launched 8teenboy.com, our little
brother site.
WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME YOU HAD TO
SHOOT A FILM BUT REALLY DIDN’T WANT
TO?
Kyle Ross: I will not film unless I’m genuinely into
my scene partner. Further, if I’m feeling sick or
jetlagged, then we usually postpone the scene.
I perform only when conditions are ideal, and
luckily, being local with the studio, I can enjoy
that luxury without screwing up the schedule too
much.
WHAT’S YOUR ADVICE TO THE NEW GUYS
LAUNCHING THEIR CAREERS AT HELIX?
Kyle Ross: Hang in there, and don’t lose your
head. Helix Studios is a wonderful platform for
young, aspiring porn stars to live their dream.
Sometimes models will start getting a ton of
followers on Twitter and then think they’re bigger
than the studio itself. I’ve seen big-headed
models get upset about whatever ridiculous thing
and then publicly post that they quit and start
soliciting other studios. Most of them fall off the
face of the earth, unfortunately. Everyone goes
through tough times, and the best thing
to do when not feeling well is to keep it
quiet on Twitter and don’t burn bridges.
in business these days with piracy running
rampant. Tube sites offer huge variety for free.
To overcome this disadvantage, we’re working
to connect our stars safely to their fans to build
more personal relationships. This live experience
cannot be pirated and is the future of our
industry.
WHICH BEST DESCRIBES KYLE ROSS:
PROUD OR KINKY?
Kyle Ross: I’d describe myself as more proud
than kinky, simply because I’m much more drawn
to measurable accomplishments than getting tied
up and taking huge dildos. Not gonna lie, I do
love taking Bojack, my big horse dildo, at home.
Due to my online exploits, many don’t realize
that I am actually a very private person. I do love
doing kinky things, but everything you see on
camera is a performance and for the fans. I am
less [of] an exhibitionist than one may perceive
from my videos.
HOW DID YOU BECOME ONE OF THE
LEADING MEN OF HELIX?
Max Carter: I’d say it’s due to consistency in the
industry. I have been filming scenes for eight
years now, without any years off, and have
always tried my best to make each performance
better than my last.
WHO IS THE NEW HELIX GUY THAT
YOU WOULD NAME “ONE TO LOOK
OUT FOR”?
Kyle Ross: Travis Stevens. He started
with us years ago as a skinny twink,
and I didn’t look at him twice. He had a
temporary hiatus, and years later, he’s
back and he’s buff! He looks amazing,
and I’ve been crushing hard. Keep
an eye out for his new scenes. I’ve
requested to film with him already.
WHERE DO YOU SEE YOUR ADULT
CAREER GOING FROM HERE?
Kyle Ross: I’ve been working for Helix
Studios for nearly eight years now.
Initially, I started as a model, and then
I worked my way into the office. I now
serve as HR and operations manager. I
do the bookkeeping, taxes and payroll.
It has turned out to be a great career
with Helix, and I see myself here for
much longer. In the near future, I’ll be
working to produce a new website,
which we are all very excited to launch!
HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE THE
CURRENT STATE OF ADULT FILM?
Kyle Ross: It’s extremely hard to stay

WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR MOST
MEMORABLE SCENE?
Max Carter: My most memorable scene was
with Liam Riley. It was called “Body Language.”
It was beautifully produced and filmed. Liam
and I put a lot of time and energy into making it
a one-of-a-kind production.
WHAT WOULD YOU NAME AS YOUR
FAVORITE SCENE TO SHOOT?
Max Carter: “Lifeguards” with Sean Ford. I
really enjoyed it, because I have a fetish for
outdoor sex, and this scene was basically shot
straight through at Blacks Beach in San Diego.
WHAT WAS YOUR MOST DIFFICULT SCENE
TO SHOOT?
Max Carter: My scene with Joey Mills. As much
as I think Joey is a cutie, we shot outdoors, and
it started out great, but then the weather took
a turn and it became a bit too cold. We had to
take it back to the bedroom to finish.
WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME YOU HAD TO
SHOOT A FILM BUT REALLY DIDN’T WANT
TO?
Max Carter: I only film scenes when I’m feeling
well and am into the other model.
WHAT’S YOUR ADVICE TO THE NEW GUYS
LAUNCHING THEIR CAREERS AT HELIX?
Max Carter: Always be consistent! The moment
you step out of the spotlight, fans will be on to
the next guy!
WHO IS THE NEW HELIX GUY THAT YOU
WOULD NAME “ONE TO LOOK OUT FOR”?
Max Carter: Jacob Hanson. I just filmed with
him the other day, and it was fire! He’s a great
performer.
WHERE DO YOU SEE YOUR ADULT
CAREER GOING FROM HERE?
Max Carter: I am currently the sole director/
producer for 8teenboy.com, and I will continue
to do that and help it grow to its fullest potential.
HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE THE
CURRENT STATE OF ADULT FILM?
Max Carter: The current state of the industry is
a bit crazy. The truths are coming out about how
certain studios operate and who is actually the
top studio to work for!
WHICH BEST DESCRIBES YOU: PROUD OR
KINKY?
Max Carter: “Proud,” because I really enjoy the
work I get to be a part of and all the guys I get
to meet and hang out with on a daily [basis].
I couldn’t imagine myself doing anything else
right now, but who knows what the future
brings!
