Register for Peterborough Power and Sail Squadron’s Boating 2 –
Beyond Boating Basics course. Monday nights September 16th –
November 4th, no class on Thanksgiving Monday, from 6:30 – 9:30
pm at Adam Scott Collegiate.
In an effort to bring boaters together across Canada, Boating 2 students
that successfully complete course will receive a one year free
membership in CPS-ECP.

For those wishing to further their boating education,
it is recommended that you enrol in the squadron’s
CPS-ECP courses. The Pleasure Craft Operator Card
from CPS-ECP is accredited by Transport Canada and
is the only PCOC recognized by the U.S. Coast Guard.
Also the squadron will be offering several other
courses this fall including Boating 2 – Beyond
Boating Basics for those who have the PCOC and
want to learn more about navigation and safety
skills, anchoring, working with ropes including lines
and knots, what to expect when your boat is under
power, and more. Boating 3 – Introduction to Marine
Navigation takes place immediately afterwards and
carries on with navigation knowledge, how to plot
paper charts, the skipper’s duties before setting out
and while underway, handling of the boat under
sail, environmental responsibilities relating to grey
water, recycling, and animal habitat, tides, currents,
and more. Both courses are held once a week in the
evenings for five to six weeks. More details will be
