Against Leek in front of 539 onlookers, Sittingbourne survived an early scare thanks to a great Efrem Ebbli save and went on to create a few chances themselves. The best chance of the game fell to Lee McRobert but his shot sailed over the bar. At the other end Ebbli did well to grab the ball off the goal line as Leek made a rare attack. Last week twenty five years ago Sittingbourne played two home games in a row. The last game at home saw the Brickies defeat fellow strugglers Atherstone 1-0. The two games this week were against teams in the top five of the Beazer Homes Southern League Premier Division and would present a considerbly harder task. First up was Leek Town who the previous season finisherd runners-up in the Northern Premier League and were bitter at not being promoted to the Conference this season. Sittingbourne were improving playing a 4- 4-2 system with Paul Haylock being played in his customary right back position and Simon Beard was also improving and looked solid in central defence with youngster Roy Clarke. In midfield Lloyd Hume and Andy Blondrage battled well and with Simon Ullathorne beginning to look threatening down the left the problem was still one of goals. Not enough of them. The match finished 0-0 and for Sittingbourne any point was a good point and Leek would have gone home happy with a point too. Four days later Dorchester were the visitors to Central Park where a crowd of 548 were hoping that Sittingbourne would extend their unbeaten home run to three games. Although Sittingbourne looked the better team, they went in at half time a goal down after the visitors scored in the 40th minute. Sittingbourne equalised in the second half after James Strouts was clattered by the visitors goalkeeper in the penalty area. Lloyd Hume converted the spot kick to put Sittingbourne level and the game was there for the taking with just under thirty minutes to play. It was Sittingbourne who pressed for the winner with Dorchester having to defend deep. The game was won in the 87th minute when Dorchester scored with what was their only shot of the half. The home form revival came cruelly to an end. Sittingbourne: Ebbli, Saunders, Hume, Haylock, Beard, Blondrage, Clarke, Strouts, Buglione, McRobert.
