The CrossFit boom and thriving
boutique fitness market has
shone a spot light on indoor
rowing. Gymgoers are waking-up
to the significant exercise benefits
of the rowing machine and
choosing it as an alternative to
the treadmill or stationary bike.
Given the obvious exercise

relative low cost of rowing
machines, fitness industry
experts forecast indoor rowing
participation to grow substantially
through 2018 and beyond.
The increased popularity of
indoor rowing was highlighted
in a recent research project
commission by British Rowing.
The report estimates that there
are currently 1.3 million indoor
rowing participants in England

WaterRower

England using manufacturing techniques refined over three decades.
As with all WaterRowers, Original Series rowing machines feature
the unique WaterFlywheel, peerless in its simulation of on the water
rowing. A celebrated piece of design, the Original Series WaterRower
has been displayed in both New York’s Museum of Modern Art and
London’s Design Museum. Built to last, 30 years on and machines from

agreements to match. A dedicated team
of WaterRower service and maintenance
engineers work to ensure that after sales
care is of the highest standard.
Education
To help each gym get the most of their
WaterRowers, a range of education
programs are available. WaterRower work
alongside fitness providers to create a
program that is suitable for the needs of
their staff and client base.

WaterRower Ethos
The WaterRower was designed in
the mid-80s by Yale engineering
student and US National Team
Rower John Duke.
Duke founded the company on
the principle of sustainable, highquality
manufacturing. An antidote
to disposable manufacturing culture,
all WaterRower rowing machine are
made by hand and designed to last
a lifetime.
2018 sees WaterRower celebrate
its 30th Anniversary. From humble
beginnings WaterRower has
expanded to become a global fitness
brand. What was once a small
wood shop making one rowing
machine a month is now a state of
the art manufacturing operation.
Success has been built on Duke’s
founding principle of quality and
sustainability.
Only Verified Sustainable
Hardwoods are used in WaterRower
production. All wood is sourced from
the Appalachian Mountain region
of the eastern United States, where
planting rates exceed harvest rates
by an average multiple of 2.29.
Respecting the environment
is integral to the WaterRower
business. Production residue is used
for power generation to ensure that
there is no waste. Furthermore, the
WaterRower factory roof is used to
produce solar electricity, from which
production is powered.
