Do you remember the awards, honors, and accomplishments
I listed at the beginning? I failed to mention
my most treasured accolades: being named Father of the
Year by Community Partner of Houston in 1998 and a
Trailblazer by the University of Oklahoma in 2017, both
relational and values-driven honors. My most important
roles in life are being husband, father, and grandfather. I
believe that being successful in the business world begins
with being successful at home. The Father of the Year title
evidences that, by my Father’s graceful leading, I have
truly lived a successful life. And so can you.
About the Author
Archie W. Dunham
is Chairman Emeritus
and former Independent
Non-executive Chairman
of Chesapeake Energy
in Oklahoma City. He
served as President and
Chief Executive Officer
of Conoco Inc. and then
as chairman of ConocoPhillips,
following the
merger of Conoco Inc. and Phillips Petroleum
Company, until his retirement in 2004. He has
served on numerous boards and received countless
awards and honors, including the Marines’
highest honor, The Globe and Anchor Award in
2011 and Houston’s Father of the Year in 1998.
Archie is married to his childhood sweetheart,
Linda, for over 58 years. Together they are the
proud parents of three wonderful children, eight
fabulous grandchildren and three beautiful greatgrandchildren.
They are members of the Second
Baptist Church of Houston and also attend the
Community of Faith Church in Hockley, Texas.
