Autumn adventu<strong>res</strong> for the whole family<br />
with the National Trust<br />
With autumn trails and outdoor escapades, ghoul hunting and creepy crafts we’ve<br />
got big adventu<strong>res</strong> for little monsters this half term. Here’s what’s going on:<br />
Fountains Abbey and Studley<br />
Royal, Ripon<br />
There’s a new tower to climb<br />
in the play area! Explore a<br />
miniature How Hill Tower, as<br />
well as the wooden abbey,<br />
swings and zipline. Wrap up<br />
for an after dark adventure<br />
at Fountains by Floodlight<br />
and pop by Swanley Grange<br />
to have a go at some woolly<br />
heritage crafts. You can also make a bright and colourful autumn leaf<br />
crown to wear home.<br />
Beningbrough Hall, Gallery & Gardens, York<br />
On 27 and 31 <strong>Oct</strong>ober make a leafy bird’s nest from natural materials<br />
with artrageous craft sessions in the Hayloft. Book onto a Bushcraft<br />
day on 29 <strong>Oct</strong>ober or fol<strong>low</strong> Apple Pip on his adventu<strong>res</strong> as Eden from<br />
Stories Alive! takes you on a story promenade through the gardens on<br />
Wednesday. You can go on a tree walk with the garden team on 31<br />
<strong>Oct</strong>ober and 1 November.<br />
Brimham Rocks, near Harrogate<br />
Calling all witches and wizards – take a trip to Brimham Rocks to make<br />
your very own broom in time for Hal<strong>low</strong>een. Book onto a session from<br />
29-31 <strong>Oct</strong>ober and make a traditional broom from birch gathered from<br />
the moorland. Small charge per child, booking essential, tel: 0344 249<br />

Nunnington Hall,<br />
Helmsley<br />
Wander the historic<br />
rooms all decorated with<br />
a Hal<strong>low</strong>een theme, past<br />
witches and skeletons<br />
and all things that go<br />
bump in the night. Pick<br />
up your potion poem<br />
from the reception desk<br />
and take part in creepy<br />
crafts in the children’s room. Visit on weekends to join a family friendly<br />
ghost tour.<br />
Ormesby Hall, Middlesbrough<br />
Wisteria the Witch and her friends have arrived at Ormesby Hall for<br />
Hal<strong>low</strong>een and dropped some of their belongings along the way. Can<br />
you help reunite them with their broomstick-riding owners? Head to the<br />
kitchen to help Wisteria brew some potions, make your own pet spider<br />
and settle down for spooky story time.<br />
Treasurer’s House, York<br />
From 26 – 31 <strong>Oct</strong>ober wander up and down the stairs to spot the<br />
spooks and find out more about the ghostly sightings at Treasurer’s<br />
House. Dip into the trick or treat cauldron before you leave for a<br />
surprise.<br />
Normal admission applies to all places, some events need booking in<br />
advance or may carry a small charge.<br />

Build a den, play hide and seek and discover the new tower in the<br />
play area at Fountains Abbey. Make leaf art or learn bushcraft<br />
skills at Beningbrough Hall and join Hal<strong>low</strong>een story-telling and<br />
