Big Draw Festival 2019<br />
Oxygen Art Centre transforms the gallery into a community<br />
open studio over two Sundays this fall. This allages<br />
series of collaborative drawing workshops is in<br />
connection with the worldwide event known as The Big<br />
Draw.<br />
Facilitated by Oxygen Art Centre member and artist<br />
Anita Levesque, The Big Draw theme for 2019 is #Drawn-<br />
ToLife and explores the healing and unifying impact of<br />
mark making and drawing.<br />
These family friendly drop-in art making sessions run<br />
from 11 am to 4 pm on <strong>Oct</strong>ober 20 and November 17.<br />
Each session will focus on a different theme. Events are<br />
free or by donation. Open to everyone, whatever age or<br />

Request for Proposals<br />
The Kootenay Conservation Program (KCP) and Regional District<br />
of Central Kootenay (RDCK) are seeking proposals for projects that<br />
will benefit conservation in the rural areas around Kootenay Lake,<br />
specifically electoral areas A, D, and E within the RDCK.<br />
The purpose of the Fund is to provide local financial support for<br />
important projects that will contribute to the conservation of our<br />
valuable natural areas. Kootenay Lake Local Conservation Fund<br />
(KLLCF) funding is available for conservation projects that result in the<br />
reduction to a known threat to biodiversity. The themes for the Fund<br />
are water conservation, wildlife and habitat conservation, and aquatic<br />
systems conservation.<br />
Projects that are technically sound and effective, and provide value<br />
for money through partnerships with other funders will be given<br />
priority. Proponents must be a registered not-for-profit organization,<br />
First Nations band or local government. Unqualified groups or<br />
organizations may partner with a qualified organization.<br />
A Technical Review Committee will review project proposals and<br />
make recommendations to the RDCK for final funding approval.<br />

Polly J Koochin<br />
March 19, 1935 - September 9, 2019<br />
Polly Koochin (Bojey) passed away peacefully on September 9,<br />
2019 at the age of 84 years. She was born March 19, 1935<br />
to parents John and Helen Bojey in Cowley Alberta.<br />
Polly will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by her<br />
children Gord (Marcy) Koochin, Les (Debbie) Koochin, amd<br />
Linda (Bruce) Thompson; grandchildren Chad, Dale, and<br />
Brian, Michael, Julie Anne Nicole, Chelsey and Hayley; greatgrandchildren<br />
Rayleigh, Logan, Adam and Tenley; and her<br />
sister Lorraine (Larry) Shkuratoff.<br />
Polly was predeceased by her husband William (Willy), her<br />
daughter Janet Nikiforuk, brother Alex Bojey, and brother<br />
Fred Bojey.<br />
Funeral services to honour Polly’s passing were held at the<br />
Appledale Hall on September 18, 2019 with interment at<br />
Perry Siding Cemetery.<br />

National Teen Driver Safety Week<br />
Parachute is excited to announce the seventh annual<br />
National Teen Driver Safety Week (NTDSW) in Canada,<br />
sponsored by Desjardins Insurance. NTDSW is designed<br />
to drive public awareness of teen driver safety issues and<br />
encourages community and youth involvement as part of<br />
the solution. National Teen Driver Safety Week will run<br />

Last year, the National Teen Driver Safety Week 2018<br />
campaign was a great success, with hundreds of educational<br />
events held across Canada.<br />
This year, the primary focus is on the critical issue of<br />
