Le Plus Grand
Indri indri
Ces lémuriens diurnes et
végétariens sont les plus grands
des lémuriens. L’Indri Indri est
visible seulement dans la forêt
tropicale de l’Est de la Grande
Île. Il est connu pour ses cris
matinaux très forts qui lui
permettent de marquer son
territoire. Son poids varie de 7
à 10kg, il atteint une hauteur
de 70cm et possède une queue
courte. De couleur noire et
blanche, l’Indri Indri vit en groupe
de 2 à 5 individus.

Indri indri
These diurnal lemurs are
vegetarian and the largest of the
lemurs. The Indri Indri can only
be found in the tropical forest in
the east of the island. It is known
for its screech, to be heard in the
morning, enabling it to mark its
territory. Its weight varies from
7 to 10 kilos and it can reach a
height of 70cm. The Indri Indri
only has a very short tail. It is
black and white and lives in groups
of 2 to 5 individuals.

Lémurien mangouste
L’Eulemur mangoz se déplace
comme les mangoustes .
On comprend alors mieux
son nom ! Cette espèce
est difficile à observer car
elle n’est pas attirée par la
compagnie des hommes
comme les autres espèces.
Les mâles sont de couleur
grise brune tandis que les
femelles sont de couleur
plus claire. Ils ont une barbe
velue et pèsent 2kg environ.
On peut observer ce lémurien
diurne dans le parc national
d’Ankarafantsika.

The Most Fascinating
Eulemur mangoz
The Eulemur mangoz moves
like a mongoose, which explains
its name. The species is difficult
to observe, since, unlike many
of the other species, it is not
attracted to people. The males
are grey-brown while females
are lighter in colour. They have
a velvety beard and weigh
about 2 kilos. This lemur can be
observed in the national park of
Ankarafantsika.
