Maki catta ou Ring-tailed Lemur
Son espérance de vie est de 16
à 19 ans. Connu sous le nom
scientifique Lemur catta, on
l’appelle également Maki mococo
ou Lémur à queue annelée en
raison de sa queue constituée de
14 anneaux noirs et blancs. Le Maki
catta est une espèce endémique
du Sud de Madagascar. Son corps
peut mesurer jusqu’à 46 cm et sa
queue jusqu'à 65 cm ! Il peut peser
jusqu’à 3,5kg. C’est le plus terrestre
des lémuriens car il aime s’asseoir
par terre pour se réchauffer.

Maki catta
The life expectancy of this lemur
is between 16 and 19 years. Known
by its scientific name of Lemur
catta, it is also known as the Maki
mococo or Ring-tailed lemur, due
to the 14 black and white rings on
its tail. The Maki catta is endemic
to the south of Madagascar. Its
body can measure up to 46cm and
its tail up to 65cm! It can weigh
up to 3.5 kilos. It is the most
terrestrial of lemurs, enjoying
sitting on the ground to warm
itself up.

Ce lémurien nocturne est très
particulier : il est doté d’une queue
d’écureuil, d'oreilles de chauvesouris
et de dents de lapin… On
peut l’apercevoir dans la partie
Nord de Madagascar, au sein de la
montagne d’Ambre.

is very special: its has a squirrel’s
tail, a bat’s ears and rabbit’s teeth.
It is to be found in the north of
Madagascar, in the area of the
montagne d’Ambre.
