DESTINATIONS Le parc national de Zahamena, inscrit sur la Liste du patrimoine mondial, doit son nom à un arbre appelé "Zahagna", de couleur rouge ou "mena" en malgache. Situé dans la province de Toamasina, le parc est un berceau de biodiversité avec quelques trésors naturels remarquables enfouis dans sa forêt tropicale dense. C ’est un arbre de couleur rouge dénommé « Zahagna » (ou « mena » en malagasy) qui a donné son nom à ce parc. Situé dans la province de Toamasina, ce site est un berceau de la biodiversité. Il est l’un des rares lieux qui abrite le Paroedura masobe, une espèce de gecko à valeur universelle exceptionnelle, facilement identifiable par sa couleur noire pointillée de blanc et ses grands yeux noirs. Ce petit bijou de la nature partage ce beau parc avec le Propithecus diadema, un lémurien qui se démarque par un bandeau blanc jaunâtre lui couronnant le front, passant au-dessus des oreilles pour se terminer sous la gorge. Si ces découvertes vous tentent, préparez vos bagages pour une semaine d’aventure et une fois sur place, laissez-vous émerveiller par le spectacle des couleurs ! Au fur et à mesure de votre séjour, plus les jours passeront moins votre appareil photo se reposera ! De par sa forêt dense humide, le Parc national Zahamena, est aussi reconnu pour la richesse de sa flore (on y compte par exemple 60 espèces d’orchidées). Piscines naturelles, cascades et chutes d'eau viennent compléter le tableau. L'une d’entre elles est la chute sacrée d’Andranomitsangana qui se situe à plus de 80 mètres de hauteur. Vous l'aurez compris, un grand bol d’air frais et un dépaysement total vous attendent ! The National Park of Zahamena, listed as a World Heritage site, is named after a tree called ‘Zahagna’, coloured red or ‘mena’ in Malagasy. Situated in the province of Toamasina, the park is a cradle of biodiversity with a few notable treasures of nature buried in its dense rain forest. The park is one of the rare spots sheltering the Paroedura masobe, a species of gecko classified as being of 'Exceptional Universal Value', easily identified thanks to its colouring: black with white spots and large black eyes. This little treasure of Mother Nature shares the beautiful park with the Propithecus diadema, a lemur whose distinctive feature is a yellowish white stripe across its forehead, over its ears and going down to its throat. The Zahamena National Park is in a region of dense rain forest, with stunningly rich flora, including 60 species of orchids. The site also has natural pools and waterfalls, one of the latter being the sacred falls of Andranomitsangana, over 80 metres in height.
