et sélectionneur de l'équipe de Madagascar.
Nicolas Dupuis, cet homme fort du ballon
rond témoigne de sa belle expérience
avec l'équipe malgache et évoque ses
perspectives pour les années à venir.
He is a footballer, French coach and coach of
the Malagasy team. Nicolas Dupuis, this man
with a strong passion for football, talks about
his great experience with the Malagasy team

Comment êtes-vous devenu entraîneur de l'équipe
nationale de football de Madagascar ?
L’ancien président de la Fédération Malgache de
Football, Ahmad, m’a contacté en mars 2016. J’ai
accepté de venir une première fois pour découvrir les
facettes de cette discipline sportive. Mais les raisons
qui m’ont vraiment motivé à devenir entraîneur ont été
la découverte d'un très beau pays où j’ai été accueilli
par des gens très attachants. J’ai également perçu le
potentiel des footballeurs malgaches. Une fois décidé,
et avant de me nommer sélectionneur, il m’a demandé
de travailler dans l’ombre durant huit mois.
How did you become a coach of Madagascar's
national football team?
The former president of the Malagasy Football
Federation, Ahmad, contacted me in March 2016. I
agreed to come for the first time to discover the facets
of this sport. But the reasons that really motivated me
to become a coach were the discovery of a very beautiful
country where I was welcomed by very endearing
people. I also saw the potential of Malagasy footballers.
Once he decided, and before he appointed me coach, he
asked me to work in the shadows for eight months.
Quels sont les atouts des joueurs malgaches ayant
favorisés leur qualification aux quarts de finale de la
CAN 2019?
Les footballeurs malgaches forment un groupe de
joueurs exceptionnels. C’est une équipe plus qu’une
somme d’individualités. Les joueurs disposent d'un
état d’esprit irréprochable avec des cadres comme
Faneva Iva, Abel Anicet, Jérémy Morel, Ibrahim
Amada ou Pascal Razaka qui montrent la voie à suivre.
What are the strengths of the Malagasy players
that helped them qualify for the quarter-finals of
the 2019 CAN?
Malagasy footballers are an exceptional group of
players. It is a team more than a sum of individuals. The
