3DJail strategy towards competencies recognition
The official recognition of a qualification or of some competences in each country when a
consolidated standard is not present yet, requires a long process, different for each country
which can take more than the duration of the 3DJail project and requires a strong
intervention of the competent authority.
3DJail aims to design some standard competencies, linked to an occupation/ professional
profile, created considering the national and European existing standards. This will be the
reference point for the validation of competences, that will be developed through training
activities taking into consideration also the competences already acquired by people
involved in the project.
Since the starting point is that different professional profiles or qualifications are present
in the project countries that are not completely coincident, the 3D Jail Framework of
competencies will consider the feature of each national standard that can overlap in order
to be able to transfer the 3D Jail competencies in the national systems when possible. The
validation of the acquired competences by 3DJail partnership can be used by each learner
in their country to access the local IVC process and obtain a public recognised qualification.
The starting point for the 3DJail framework of competences can be the ESCO occupation
3D printing technician, which describes the expected profile and starts listing a number of
related competencies. While this occupation/professional profile is not clearly present in
the different countries’ repository, at least on the qualification side, it is in ESCO. Keeping
an eye on the market. A second aim of the 3D Jail framework of competences related to 3D
printing is to be of high quality, to be described in a very clear way so that it can be
understood by the employers and to be up to date in order to be applicable to the actual
production processes.
Following steps
Checking the appropriateness of the ESCO standard toward partners experience and
first draft of the competences listed on the base of partners’ experience, to enhance the
framework of competences of 3DJail
Checking the overlap of the new profile/competences with national/regional profiles,
starting from the one selected in the background review
Check with national/regional authorities the possibilities of a public recognition
Check with international private sectoral organisation (such as CISCO) the possibilities of
a recognition
