Water is a natural resource everything alive needs for survival, yet we
have made it a market in individually packaged containers that will sit on
the Earth for generations to come. Though they are convinient at times,
the mass amounts of plastic being produced (and thrown away after minimal
time of usage) is having a large impact on global warming, occurring right
now. The production of water bottles requires oil, gas, even more water
than it takes to fill it, and space in landfills. It is estimated that by
2050, there will be more plastic in the ocean by weight than fish and water
bottles are a main contributer. Bottled water is significantly more
expensive than filtered drinking water, yet yeilds the same quality.
Purchasing what is already free but in single-use containers is both
impractical and extremely damaging to our environment.
