2019 TMEA All-State Program

WELCOME
PARENTS, GUESTS, AND MUSIC EDUCATORS
Warmest welcome to the 2019 Tennessee Music Education Association
All-State Performances.
While this event is an annual program for our state, many of the students you
will be hearing are participating in a Tennessee All-State Ensemble for the first
time. But whether it is a student’s first time or a return performance, it is a
unique experience that all students will carry with them for the rest of their
lives. These young people represent the future, not just in music but as leaders
of their communities and advocates for music in our schools.
These young musicians are the best from across the state. They have rehearsed
and practiced for years to get to this point in their lives. The teachers and
parents of these students are well aware that most of these students excel in
more than just music. They are strong academically, they are school leaders,
athletes, and volunteers. Indeed, they are the leaders of the next generation.
What you see on stage represents the finest in music instruction in Tennessee.
Hundreds of school music teachers, supported by their school administrators,
have spent countless hours organizing this program to provide the very best
musical experience possible in Tennessee. In addition to the dedicated and
hard-working staff and area chairs identified in this program, there are so many
others behind the scenes who have helped make these Tennessee All-State
Ensemble experiences possible.
To all of the families of these students, I’d like to thank you for what you’ve already
done to encourage your child’s musical pursuits. I also want to take a moment to
thank all of the music teachers for the nurture and care you show your students
every day. There is no way to measure the impact you have on these students.
I would also like to extend a special welcome to all of our special guests who are
joining us for these performances. The Tennessee Music Education Association
is so pleased to have you share in these musical experiences.
And last but certainly not least, I would like to extend my most sincere and
heartfelt congratulations to the accomplishments of all of the student members
of the Tennessee All-State Ensembles. I encourage you to thank your families,
your teachers, and your friends for all they have done for you. I wish all of you
the very best in your future endeavors.
