More Technology Matters
One of our members has pointed out that our website, theiceclub.es, is
not secure.
He's right, it's not secure, but at this time it probably doesn't need to be
as we don't take any personal details, passwords etc., from anybody
using the site. By “Not Secure” I mean it's not encrypted end to end, which becomes important when
credit card and other personal details are being collected.
Google has recently started to show a sign saying "Not secure" on their Chrome browser. I don't think
any of the other browsers are doing this at the moment. Nothing has changed with our site, it's just
Google trying to be clever. They can obviously see which sites are http and which are https but can't
tell which collect data and which don't, so all http sites are being labelled Not secure.
We can easily make it secure but it costs around an extra £65p.a. for the SSL certificate. The time may
come when it becomes compulsory but, having discussed it with Sheila, we feel that we can wait and
Working in a mirror factory is something I can totally see myself doing
