GARDEN CLUB
The Garden Club held their July meeting on Tuesday 9th July in Keith and Helen Rumsey's garden.
There was a good attendance of 18 made up of new and regular members. We each took our time
strolling around the beautiful garden, so much to see. Keith and Helen are always happy to help with
names or information about any of their shrubs, cacti or plants, even offering the odd cutting. We came
back and sat in the shade under their gazebo ready for the meeting to start.
Sandy had put out various gardening papers, photos etc. for new members to see. She pointed out two
important newspaper cuttings to read 1) regarding the possible danger to one's health when having a
compost heap and 2) regarding a Pensioner who won 61 million pounds over 'Roundup' weedkiller's
link to cancer.
There was plenty of enthusiasm regarding the last two Garden Club Meetings. Paloma park in May and
the last meeting in June to Molino del Santo.
It had already been decided to cancel the August Garden Club meeting as it is too hot and to hold the
September meeting on Tuesday 10th at 11.30 am in the AgroJardin Garden Centre. One of our
members offered their garden for the October 8th Garden Club meeting. (please speak to Sandy for
where and directions). Hopefully we shall have even more new members.- everyone is welcome.
The meeting was then left open to anyone who had a problem, needed advice or had advice to give.
Various conversations began and help offered re. ants, moths on geraniums, cockroaches, disease on
a palm tree, how it is a good idea to cut down various bushes and plants for them to then spread, etc
A very enjoyable lunch was provided with drinks
from our very hospitable hosts which got a huge
thank you from all the members. There were plenty
of cuttings offered to take home. and so we had.
another very enjoyable Garden Club get together.
Interesting info: Did you know that the clematis has
more than 300 species and is a member of the
buttercup family.
Do you recognise
PARKING AT THE ICE CLUB
Parking is not allowed in any of the yellow marked
areas and for good relations with our neighbours,
please do not park in the bay next to the front
door.
There is always ample parking space in Entrance
4 of Bahia Dorada. Just continue past the front of
the clubhouse and turn in at the next entrance.
Then turn right and drive parallel to the main road.
You can park near the top and walk along the
pathway to the front door, or go further down and
come into the club from back door.
For those who don’t want ALEXA listening in on your conversations, they’re
making a male version… it doesn’t listen to anything
