Keeping the Sports Horse on the Road (Saturday)
“I can’t wait to hear what these ‘coal-face’ sports
horse clinicians have to say in a panel discussion
about how they ‘tweak and treat’ their patients.
People are understandably secretive about their
methods and this creates an air of mystery, but also
a fear of the unknown for those trying to learn in this
field. Linear learning from one mentor can lead to a
blinkered approach and so any opportunity for open
discussion is gratefully received!”

“In our hospital we have no best practice protocol
for use of IVRP and it is always a subject of debate.
With the plethora of papers on IVRP, it’s hard to work
out many things; which is the best antibiotic? At what
concentration? How long to leave the tourniquet in
place? How frequently to use IVRP? When can you
get away without doing IVRP? I’m looking forward to
some practical guidance from Dean Hendrickson.”
