TRADITIONAL
When the French revolution
started to change the world
in 1789, before Germany even
existed, Franz Wilhelm Langguth
founded a wine-trading
company in Traben-Trarbach.
Just like the Moselle region is
one of Germany's oldest winegrowing
regions, Langguth is
one of Germany's oldest wineries.
The step from trader
to wine producing company
took place during the expansion
period.
„The Langguth family has lived and worked in the world of wine
for seven generations. New grape varieties, new techniques, a
new globalised market, new wines - Langguth has developed
and maintained its position as a quality provider in this global
market for over 200 years.
Consumers in more than 100 countries have acknowledged the
consistent quality management and the continuous investment
in environmentally-friendly cultivation and production
of wines using state-of-the-art cellar technology.“
REGION
Back in 1789, when Franz Wilhelm Langguth founded the
wine house in Traben-Trarbach on the banks of the Moselle
River, nobody would have thought that this charming town
would soon have the same importance in wine trading as
Bordeaux in France. Today based in the heart of Europe, the
F.W. Langguth Erben winery with its own steep sloped vineyards
along the Moselle valleys cultivates wines mainly
in the famous German wine regions of Rheinhessen, Pfalz
and Moselle.
|9

PHILOSOPHY
From its humble beginnings, the F.W. Langguth
Erben winery became one of Germany’s
biggest wine producers during the 19th century,
and is now one of Europe’s leading companies.
Through the last decades Wolfgang
Langguth has defined and lived the company’s
philosophy of winemaking and brand
innovation: Delivering top quality wine to
customers worldwide while maintaining
brand traditions combined with modern,
sustainable wine making technology.
INTERNATIONAL
EXPERTISE
With more than 50 million bottles of annual wine production, becoming
one of the world’s most important companies in the wine industry,
beyond the boundaries of Europe, F.W. Langguth Erben has taken
entrepreneurial courage and careful monitoring of the opportunities
provided by technical and scientific innovations for optimising wine
quality, without being afraid to make the associated costly investments.
By embracing bureaucracy, F.W. Langguth Erben is also supporting clients
worldwide with constant updates on logistics and legal requirements
for their domestic markets.
In order to achieve outstanding wine quality, the Langguth wine cellars
are equipped for storing and preparing wines in containers made from
top quality stainless steel. All of the stainless steel tanks are networked
and monitored by a tank monitoring system. The quality of the wine
can be reliably checked, evaluated and controlled at all times. The stringent
hygiene requirements of the foodstuffs industry are met by using
automated and precisely controlled cleaning processes.
QUALITY
An essential component of the Langguth quality
philosophy is the wine scale stabilisation method.
Langguth has made use of knowledge from human
medicine, i.e. dialysis for purifying the blood. Excess
potassium and calcium ions are removed from the
wine using defined diaphragm processes.
In-depth know-how of modern winemaking is more
important than ever. Highly trained specialists in the
Traben-Trarbach winery ensure top quality wines
with continuously monitoring the production process
and certified hygiene standards. F.W. Langguth Erben
is also an audited producer of organic bio wines, where
strictest standards apply.
The history of BLUE NUN® goes further back in
the German wine business than the history of
