The Intermediate
Help me, help me.
I can’t get out.
I’m constantly torn
between here and there,
blonde or brunette, walk
or ride.
I look at the old photos
of the old me, the ugly me.
I look in the mirror and want
to be a new me, not an older me.
Maybe I will go on a diet.
I’m saving my money,
I’m saving my money!!
I’m in the middle of haircuts
and jobs.
I refuse to go backwards.
Tomorrow is already sitting
on my lap like a stack
of unopened mail and
I’m not even finished with
my To Do list.
Who am I, who am I?
I’m in limbo hanging
like a coconut.
Crack me open and at least
pour me over ice.
