are observing the Sabbath. Angels were marking their interest in, and high
regard for, this divine institution. Those who sanctified the Lord God in their
hearts by a strictly devotional frame of mind, and who sought to improve the
sacred hours in keeping the Sabbath to the best of their ability, and to honor
God by calling the Sabbath a delight--these the angels were specially
blessing with light and health, and special strength was given them.
Strict compliance with the requirements of Heaven brings temporal as
well as spiritual blessings.
"Blessed is the man that doeth this, and the son of man that layeth hold
on it; that keepeth the Sabbath from polluting it, and keepeth his hand from
doing any evil." "The sons of the stranger, that join themselves to the Lord,
to serve Him, and to love the name of the Lord, to be His servants, everyone
that keepeth the Sabbath from polluting it, and taketh hold of My covenant;
even them will I bring to My holy mountain, and make them joyful in My
house of prayer." Isaiah 56:1, 2, 6, 7.
So long as the heavens and the earth endure, the Sabbath will continue
as a sign of the Creator's power. And when Eden shall bloom on earth again,
God's holy rest day will be honored by all beneath the sun. "From one
Sabbath to another" the inhabitants of the glorified new earth shall go up "to
worship before Me, saith the Lord." Matthew 5:18; Isaiah 66:23.
