wear lace, and gold, and artificials <strong>for</strong> display, will not recommend to o<strong>the</strong>rs<br />

your religion or <strong>the</strong> truth that you profess. People of discernment will look<br />

upon your attempts to beautify <strong>the</strong> external as proof of weak minds and<br />

proud hearts.<br />

There is a dress which every child and youth may innocently seek to<br />

obtain. It is <strong>the</strong> righteousness of <strong>the</strong> saints. If <strong>the</strong>y will only be as willing and<br />

persevering in obtaining this as <strong>the</strong>y are in fashioning <strong>the</strong>ir garments after <strong>the</strong><br />

standard of worldly society, <strong>the</strong>y will very soon be clo<strong>the</strong>d with <strong>the</strong><br />

righteousness of Christ, and <strong>the</strong>ir names will not be blotted out of <strong>the</strong> book<br />

of life. Mo<strong>the</strong>rs, as well as youth and children, need to pray, "Create in me a<br />

clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me." Psalm 51:10. This<br />

purity of heart and loveliness of spirit are more precious than gold, both <strong>for</strong><br />

time and <strong>for</strong> eternity. Only <strong>the</strong> pure in heart shall see God.<br />
