EXT. /ESTAB. HOUSE - NIGHT
INT. KITCHEN - HOUSE - NIGHT
A phone RINGS on the counter -- a hand reaches INTO FRAME and
answers it. JAMIE (20).
JAMIE
(into the phone)
Hello?
VOICE (V.O.)
Who is this?
JAMIE
Most people say hello back.
Hello.
VOICE (V.O.)
JAMIE
That wasn’t so hard. Now who are
you?
VOICE (V.O.)
I asked first.
JAMIE
You called me, remember?
So?
VOICE (V.O.)
JAMIE
So -- why would you dial this
number if you didn’t know who you
were calling?
VOICE (V.O.)
C’mon. Who is this?
JAMIE
Have a good night.
Jamie ends the call. She grabs the bowl of popcorn and takes
it downstairs.
CUT TO:

INT. LIVING ROOM - HOUSE - MOMENTS LATER
CLOSEUP ON A TV SCREEN
Halloween (1978) plays on the screen. Jamie and OLIVIA (20)
sit on the couch watching it.
Jamie’s eyes are glued to it -- it seems like Olivia isn’t
amused.
JAMIE
-- Hold on... this is the best
part.
ON SCREEN - Michael Myers stabs a young man up against a
wall.
OLIVIA
I don’t get it.
What?
JAMIE
OLIVIA
I don’t get how you can constantly
sit through this crap every day.
Jamie pauses the movie.
JAMIE
(offended)
What do you mean? -- Halloween’s a
classic.
OLIVIA
All I see is nothing but murder and
stabbings -- left and right --
there’s no character development or
story to be told. There’s a reason
I don’t watch these movies.
JAMIE
What would you prefer I put on?
Bambi?
OLIVIA
Better than this shit.
Jamie rolls her eyes --

Olivia stops and looks to the staircase.
OLIVIA (CONT'D)
Wait. Did you hear that?
JAMIE
Hear what?
OLIVIA
I don’t know -- I thought I heard
something.
Olivia gets it and walks toward the noise.
JAMIE
Is this your attempt to try and
scare me?
OLIVIA
No -- I told you I heard something.
JAMIE
I know you’re trying to scare me.
I’m not.
OLIVIA
Olivia walks upstairs.
Off Jamie -- she gets up and follows.
INT. UPSTAIRS HALLWAY
Jamie slowly walks down the hall.
JAMIE
Olivia -- where are you? I know
you’re trying to scare me...
She continues to walk until --
Olivia pops out of the closet next to her wearing a GHOST
FACE mask -- it barely scares her.
Dammit.
OLIVIA
JAMIE
You really should direct horror
films -- jump scares seem to be
every new movie’s go-to.
CUT TO:

4.
INT. FOYER - MOMENTS LATER
Jamie walks Olivia out.
JAMIE
You know -- I think you secretly
like horror movies.
Olivia rolls her eyes.
OLIVIA
Goodnight.
Jamie closes the door.
CUT TO:
EXT. ALLEY - MOMENTS LATER
Olivia walks down -- she’s alone -- vulnerable.
From a distance, we see her look around -- it looks like
someone’s watching her.
CUT BACK TO:
INT. KITCHEN - HOUSE - NIGHT
Jamie puts the popcorn bowl in the sink.
Her phone rings again -- without thinking twice she answers.
JAMIE
What do you want?
To talk.
VOICE (V.O.)
JAMIE
You think this is funny?
VOICE (V.O.)
This isn’t a comedy -- it’s a
horror film.
-- What?
JAMIE

VOICE (V.O.)
You heard me. (beat) You should
know exactly what I’m talking
about... you’re the horror fan
after all.
JAMIE
Olivia -- if this is you trying to
scare me again--
VOICE (V.O.)
You wish this was Olivia. (beat)
Check your phone.
Jamie looks -- a new video was sent to her: Olivia tied up,
being held by whoever’s calling Jamie.
Jamie puts the phone back to her ear --
JAMIE
I swear to god -- if you hurt her--
VOICE (V.O.)
You’ll what?
JAMIE
I’ll call the police.
VOICE (V.O.)
Why does everyone in horror movies
think that dialing nine-one-one
suddenly makes everything better?
JAMIE
I want to know who this is and how
you got my phone number.
VOICE (V.O.)
The better question is... how I got
into your house.
Jamie turns behind -- she grabs a knife from the knife block.
She ducks behind the island counter.
VOICE (V.O.)
Let’s see if you’re able to slice
me first.
JAMIE
You really can see me.
She peers out -- no one’s there.

6.
VOICE (V.O.)
Can you see me?
A tumble from upstairs is heard -- Jamie gets up.
INT. LIVING ROOM
Jamie looks up the staircase.
JAMIE
I know where you are.
VOICE (V.O.)
What? How?
JAMIE
Let’s just say you’re not very good
at keeping quiet.
VOICE (V.O.)
Let’s see you try to keep quiet...
when I’m gutting you like a fish!
Jamie ends the call -- she quickly dials 9.1.1.
JAMIE
(into the phone)
Hello? My name is Jamie Fisher --
I’m on 877 Turner Lane. There’s
someone in my house trying to kill
me -- please hurry!
Before she can finish the call -- GHOST FACE quickly wraps
their hand around Jamie’s mouth -- she drops the phone -- and
kicks the wall in front of her --
They go tumbling backwards and hit the floor -- Jamie gets
back up and runs upstairs --
GHOST FACE runs after -- he’s on her ass.
INT. UPSTAIRS HALLWAY
GHOST FACE chases her to --
INT. BEDROOM
She slams the door shut behind her -- GHOST FACE slams
themself into the door from the other side.

7.
It’s just enough time until GHOST FACE bursts through the
door --
He looks around -- the window’s wide open -- Jamie’s nowhere
to be seen. He takes off out the room.
WE PAN DOWN TO - UNDER THE BED:
Jamie covers her mouth with her hands, thankful that GHOST
FACE is gone.
She pulls out her phone -- but it’s too late --
Jamie’s pulled out --
NOOO.....
JAMIE
Jamie and GHOST FACE struggle on the floor for a few seconds
until --
GHOST FACE pulls up his hand and slices down into Jamie’s
side. She stops and stares GHOST FACE in the eyes.
GHOST FACE slowly reaches for his mask... and pulls it off.
OLIVIA IS GHOST FACE.
JAMIE (CONT'D)
(bleeding)
Why...
OLIVIA
You think you know it all? You
think you know how this is gonna
end? Well the rules have changed.
(beat) This is my horror movie. I
make the rules.
Jamie continues to stare in horror --
OLIVIA (CONT'D)
... Welcome to the opening scene,
Jamie.
The knife rises into the air one last time -- and comes down.
