Nabothian Cyst
(Left) Longitudinal US of a
retroverted uterus shows
multiple simple nabothian
cysts ſt. As in this case,
multiple cysts can make
visualization of the cervical
canal difficult. (Right)
Transverse transvaginal US
shows 2 complex cysts ſt at
the periphery of the cervix .
These were initially confused
for ovarian follicles, until the
ovaries were definitively
identified later during the
scan.
Diagnoses: Female Pelvis
(Left) Transverse transvaginal
US shows a single large
nabothian cyst ſt with
multiple more central small
cysts st, which mimic a
multilocular cystic mass and
obscure the cervical canal.
(Right) Sagittal T2 HASTE MR
shows multiple small T2-bright
nabothian cysts ſt at the
ectocervix st. These were an
incidental finding.
(Left) Transverse transvaginal
US through the cervix in a
pregnant patient shows an
ovoid cyst ſt, potentially
mimicking a cervical ectopic.
The thin wall, lack of internal
components, and lack of flow
confirm that this is a
nabothian cyst. (Right)
Longitudinal US in the same
patient shows the nabothian
cyst ſt as well as the
intrauterine gestational sac
. Note the distortion and
shadowing related to a
cesarean section scar .
