Pheochromocytoma
(Left) Longitudinal
transabdominal ultrasound
demonstrates a
heterogeneous adrenal mass
with mixed echogenicity
due to necrosis and
hemorrhage in the large
pheochromocytoma. (Right)
Longitudinal transabdominal
ultrasound demonstrates an
oval, well-circumscribed
heterogeneous mass , which
is anterior to the left kidney
, proven to be a
paraganglioma.
Diagnoses: Adrenal Gland
(Left) Transverse
transabdominal ultrasound
shows a large, wellcircumscribed,
solid
hypoechoic mass ſt in the left
retroperitoneum displacing
the pancreas anteriorly .
(Right) Transverse
transabdominal color Doppler
ultrasound in the same patient
shows hypervascularity of the
mass , which is
anteromedial to the left
kidney and was a
paraganglioma. Note mass
effect on the splenic vein,
which courses over the mass
st.
(Left) Corresponding coronal
CECT shows the large, welldefined
mass, with avidly
enhancing solid portions
and large hypodense areas of
necrosis , resulting in a very
heterogeneous appearance.
(Right) Corresponding axial
fused PET/CT demonstrates ↑
radiotracer uptake within
the solid portions of the
tumor, whereas the necrotic
areas appear photopenic st.
The mass is distinct from the
left kidney , but notice
abutment/narrowing of the
main left renal vein .
