anterolateral to the verumontanum. The central zone (in orange) surrounds the ejaculatory ducts, <strong>and</strong> encloses the periurethral gl<strong>and</strong>s<br />

<strong>and</strong> the transition zone. It is conical in shape <strong>and</strong> extends downward to about the level of the verumontanum. The peripheral zone (in<br />

green) surrounds the posterior aspect of the central zone in the upper 1/2 of the gl<strong>and</strong> <strong>and</strong> the urethra in the lower half, below the<br />

verumontanum. The prostatic pseudocapsule is a visible boundary between the central zone <strong>and</strong> peripheral zone. The anterior<br />

fibromuscular stroma (in yellow) covers the anterior part of the gl<strong>and</strong> <strong>and</strong> is thicker superiorly <strong>and</strong> thins inferiorly in the prostatic apex.<br />
