Dear Ambassadair Guests,
Recently, we celebrated my father’s 90th birthday.
As a travel innovator and tireless travel director, his
passion for sharing the world helped Hoosiers explore
the globe. When he blew out the candles and opened
presents, we started talking about how much travel has
changed. When he started the company, there were no
fax machines, smart phones, or computers. He wrote
letters — in German, in French, in Russian, to book
hotels and activities. Then, booking travel was difficult
and guests relied on us. Today, artificial intelligence
translates multiple languages, offers directions to weary
travelers in airports around the globe, instantly books
rooms, and (maybe) moves us through security lines.
But, we came to the same conclusion: today our guests
need Ambassadair even more than before. We suffer
from too much information, not too little. There’s a
big difference between seeing a country and really
experiencing it in the company of those who know
it best. At Ambassadair, we bring you the romance of
travel without sacrificing the practical details.
What hasn’t changed? It is spending time with people
like yourself, people who really love the art of travel.
It isn’t surprising that so many lasting friendships are
made on Ambassadair journeys. There is a special sense
of camaraderie that develops when you share all the fun
of an Ambassadair adventure.
Returning to the subject of moving through security
lines — starting in October 2020 you will not be able
to board a domestic airline without showing a REAL
ID. Take out and look at your driver’s license. If there is
a star in the upper right corner, then you are REAL ID
compliant. If not, contact the BMV today. You won’t
want to get left behind. There’s plenty of the world left
to explore.
Happy Travels!
And it is all about the details. The only way to create and
develop a great trip — be it an experience-of-a-lifetime
or that smooth, stress-free quick getaway — is by having
been there ourselves and by our vast connection of
local, insider contacts and knowledge. I’m proud that
few travel professionals have the first-hand knowledge
or industry expertise that we do.
“Middle-Earth
“
BY KELSEY BATTEN
©Klanarong Chitmung - stock.adobe.com
I
magine taking a trip where you will see
specular mountains, breathtaking botanical
gardens, and dolphins in the ocean, as well
as bioluminescent glowworms, the “eighth
wonder of the world” Milford Sound, and
Hobbiton, better known as “Middle-Earth”
in Lord of the Rings.
New Zealand is known for its deep-rooted
culture, stunning scenery, and breathtaking
views. With sandy beaches to rugged
coastlines, a variety of landscapes, climates,
and environments are within close proximity
of each other. The North Island is dominated
by the Volcanic Plateau, an active volcanic
and thermal area, while the South Island has
the massive Southern Alps.
New Zealanders, informally known as Kiwis,
love the great outdoors. It’s no wonder
considering the local scenery and access
to water, mountains, and various climates.
Kiwis dominate in world yachting, kayaking,
windsurfing, and rowing, yet they are often
described as relaxed and friendly people.
On the North Island, the Waitomo Caves
promise to offer the best glowworm experience
in the country. During a tour, learn more about
these fascinating creatures and see them up
close in their natural habitat. When in dark,
damp places, glowworms can be seen glowing
their blue-green lights and when surrounded by
thousands, the cave roof above will resemble a
star-studded sky.
Milford Sound has been described as the
“eighth wonder of the world” due to its striking
cliffs, mountains, and waterfalls. Although
named Milford Sound, it’s actually a fiord,
which is a long, narrow, deep inlet of the
sea between high cliffs. Carved by glaciers
during the ice ages and waterfalls that cascade
4
downwards from as high as 1,000 meters,
Milford Sound is a visual experience that
leaves lasting impressions.
Māori are the indigenous people of New
Zealand and graciously welcome visitors to
learn and experience their carving and weaving
traditions, speeches and singing, and hāngī
feasts cooked in earth ovens. They are known
for their haka, a war dance with loud chanting,
strong hand movements, foot stamping, and
thigh slapping.
The big screen recognizes the beauty of New
Zealand and has featured the golden plains,
towering mountains, and enchanting valleys
in movies such as The Lord of the Rings and
The Hobbit Trilogy. Today, Hobbiton still
stands where visitors can see “The Shire” in its
authentic state, and explore the “Green Dragon
Inn,” and Frodo and Bilbo’s homes.
In New Zealand, inhabitants feel a special
connection with the land and a duty of care
is instilled from a young age. All who come
embrace the Taiki New Zealand promise,
which is a commitment to guard, protect, and
preserve their home.
No matter where visitors go, the South Island
for Queenstown, Milford Sound, or Franz
Josef Glacier, or the North Island for the
Māori, glowworms, and infamous Sky Tower,
New Zealand is an immense experience. The
local, friendly Kiwis are sure to strike up a
conversation and offer insider knowledge
of the area, sights, and country. Seeing New
Zealand, in-depth, is an experience you won’t
want to miss.
Experience this amazing adventure on our
New Zealand In-Depth Trip. Details on page 26.
A thrilling adventure awaits in the Greek Isles!
Begin with a night in Athens, then board Star Clipper’s
tall ship, the Star Flyer, and embark on a Mamma Mia
inspired itinerary taking you from one gorgeous, offthe-beaten-path
island to the next. Explore Skopelos
where you’ll find the picture-perfect chapel chosen for
Sophie’s wedding. Stop in Skiathos, with its abundance
of beautiful beaches and trendy boutiques. Unwind in
sleepy beach towns and fishing villages and visit Poros,
home to the Greek Naval Academy and the Temple of
Poseidon — all against the backdrop of the dazzling
Aegean and brilliant white washed buildings. Space on
this popular cruise will disappear quickly; don’t miss
out!
PRICE Prices are in U.S. dollars and are based on operating
costs, fuel prices, taxes, and exchange rates at the time
of contracting with suppliers. Should these increase, you
may be notified and asked to pay these additional costs.
All prices are subject to change without notice. Airfares
are subject to change within 90 days prior to departure. At
that time, air space may be released, and the price could
revert to the available price at the time of booking. Prices
listed in this publication are per person based on two
people sharing a room (double occupancy). For single,
triple, and child pricing refer to our website or contact an
Ambassadair travel counselor. Room occupancy limits vary
among hotel properties and/or destinations. Triple rooms
are based on three people sharing two beds; rollaway beds
are not included in the price. Package prices do not include
any fees or service charges other than those listed in the
listed is based on the least expensive option. Complete
pricing may be found at ambassadair.com or by calling a
travel counselor. We reserve the right to re-invoice you in
case an error is made in computing your price. We cannot
be responsible for typographical errors, misprints, and
misquotes.
not offered, Cancellation Waiver is offered and applies to
trips with charter flights and day trips by motorcoach. This
up to 24 hours prior to departure of air and/or ground
optional tours, one-way travel, or voluntary
changes made to your plans that result in a price increase.
The Cancellation Waiver may only be purchased at the
time of booking and is valid for new bookings only on
selected trips. If the Cancellation Waiver is desired, it must
be purchased by each paying passenger on the reservation
REVISIONS & CHANGES Changes are subject to a $50
per person change fee plus any applicable cancellation
charges or increases in the package price. Ambassadair
will make every effort to operate the tour as advertised;
however, Ambassadair reserves the right to alter or curtail
the itinerary or substitute as deemed necessary.
TRAVEL DOCUMENTS Final documents will be mailed
approximately 10-14 days prior to departure. Documents
will not be delivered without full payment on a reservation.
Regulations specifically state that all passengers must
present a government issued photo identification when
boarding (both ways). It is the responsibility of the traveler
to provide the correct spelling of their full name as it
appears on their government issued I.D. If their name
does not match the ticket issued, there will be change fees
that are the responsibility of the traveler. Any person who
cannot prove that he or she is the person designated on
the reservation will not be allowed to board the aircraft.
International flights require that you be able to present a
valid U.S. passport as required. We recommend that your
passport has six months validity and at least 3 blank pages.
Non-U.S. citizens should consult the consulate of host
country regarding documentation required.
CANADA TRAVEL RESTRICTIONS Any person may be
denied entry to Canada for reasons including, but not
limited to, security risks, health issues, financial condition,
and involvement in criminal activity (regardless of degree
or length of time since such crimes occurred) such as DUI,
DWI, reckless driving, negligent driving, misdemeanor
drug possession, all felonies, domestic violence,
shoplifting, theft, and other crimes. It is recommended that
a person who has ever been charged with, or convicted of
a crime obtain the necessary approval documents before
attempting to enter Canada. To learn more about applying
for and receiving these approvals and corresponding
documentation, we strongly recommend that you visit the
following website or details regarding the requirements
and process: www. cic.gc.ca/english/information/
inadmissibility/index.asp. This is only a guide. A Canadian
immigration officer will decide if you can enter Canada
when you arrive at a port of entry.
CHILDREN TRAVELING Children 17 and under must be
accompanied by an adult. Federal Air Regulations require
that any child over the age of 24 months must occupy a
separate seat. A birth certificate is required to validate age
of all infants under age two. Reduced prices for children
on ground packages are based on children sharing a room
with two adults. Passports are required for all international
travel regardless of age. For Aruba and all Mexican
destinations: any child 17 years or younger not traveling
with both parents is required to carry a Parental Consent
Form or permission letter signed by both parents and
notarized at time of check-in.
BAGGAGE ALLOWANCE & LIABILITY Baggage allowance
and fees vary and are not covered in the cost of the trip.
For specific allowances and fees, see airline and refer to
Ambassadair’s documents, mailed approximately 10 days
before the trip. Questions regarding baggage restrictions
on commercial carriers should be directed to that
particular airline.
AIR CARRIERS All trips are via commercial air carriers
unless otherwise noted. Ambassadair acts as a sales
agent for air carriers and reserves the right to designate
any air carrier, including commuters and charter services,
connecting routing and schedule from Indianapolis.
Tickets issued are highly restrictive and may not be
reissued, revalidated, or exchanged for another carrier or
routing.
AIR SCHEDULE Flight schedules are confirmed by
Ambassadair as early as 60 days prior to departure date.
A tentative flight schedule may be given; however, these
schedules and air carriers are subject to change without
notice until approximately two weeks prior to departure.
You will receive your air schedule with your final
documents approximately two weeks prior to departure.
SEAT AND ROOM ASSIGNMENTS Seating and room
requests made at the time of booking will be considered;
however, these are requests, not guarantees. Although
your seating preferences are forwarded to the airline, the
airline cannot always honor these requests and pricing
does not include assigned seats.
TRAVEL DIRECTORS All departures designated “Escorted”
with 20 guests or more will have an Ambassadair Travel
Director throughout the trip.
to the tour. In general, European destinations require more
walking over uneven surfaces. Please call our reservations
team who can answer the activity level per trip.
use photographs taken by your Travel Director or fellow
travelers for promotional purposes. If you prefer that your
likeness not be used, please tell your Travel Director or an
Ambassadair representative.
