back to NY. As I started visiting 

friends in Weho I realized I was in the 

wrong area and need it to be here. 

Now I love LA. 

How is Los Angeles different than other major 

cities? 

We are in the center of town in Weho 

but also get to have quality of life. 

Nature surrounds us in LA. It takes 

a little time to get used to it but once 

you do it’s hard being anywhere else. 

It’s that combination of culture and 

nature that makes a LA so desirable.

Secretary applauds successful 

MISSION Act roll-out 

On June 6, the Department of 

Veterans Affairs kicked off an 

important piece of the MISSION 

Act that lets our Veterans use 

community care providers across 

America. 

Act got the attention of the White House 

and President Trump, who praised the VA’s 

dedicated staff for its performance. 

I’m proud to work with so many talented 

people at the VA. I thank you for all you’ve 

done to make this new system a reality for 

our wounded warriors, and its immediate 

use shows Veterans are also thankful. 

This victory belongs to you, and to the 

growing number of Veterans the MISSION 

Act will help in the months and years.

It’s an historic change – and it is working 

because of you! 

On the very first day, more than 44,000 

Veterans used the Decision Support Tool 

to examine whether they are eligible for 

community care. In the early stages of the 

program, we’re seeing only minor technical 

issues that are being resolved quickly once 

they’re spotted. 

We also launched a new urgent care 

network that is now being accessed by 

nearly 300 Veterans a day. 

The smooth roll-out of a major program 

is never a sure thing in Washington, D.C.

Who wants to be a Census taker? 

Now that Nixon's men seem to be back 

in the White house and the president's 

daughter is acting like she was secretary of 

state, who can you trust? These days, when 

I go to the polls, I look at the workers and 

wonder if these people are on the side of 

democracy. I mean, I don't know them or 

their family. I don't even know their name. 

I am sure they are all upstanding pillars of 

the community. But we have border agents 

and staff willingly and happily denying 

soap to children. What sane kid is going to 

complain about not having to bathe? But 

as the custodians of children, that should 

be their job. I cannot imagine DCS parents 

denying soap and toiletries to these kids! 

Now we might see deep state Trump 

supporters looking for ways to get people 

deported. Census takers are all under the 

direction of Trump. That is why Wilber 

Ross talks for Steven Dillingham. BTW 

Who denied Wilber a nose trimmer? 

But it you want to be a Census taker, 

you will have to answer some interview 

questions. Like "My previous supervisors 

(or teachers, if not previously employed) 

would likely describe my self-discipline 

as: Two of the answers include. "Below

SCULPTURES 

June was National Pride Month 

throughout the world. One of the 

primary events that initiated Pride 

was the Stone Wall riots in New York 

City This past month was the 50th 

anniversary of that event. A brief 

review of the Stone Wall riot takes 

us to Christopher Street in New 

York City the location of Stonewall 

Inn. The Stonewall Inn was build 

in the late 1800's. During the1950's 

it was known as the Stonewall Inn 

Restaurant. In 1966 it was renovated 

to become the Stonewall Inn a bar 

and dance club that catered to the 

LGBT community of the surrounding 

Greenwich Village.

movement in the United States.. 

George Segal was a prominent 

artist of the early 20th century. He 

lived and worked on a farm in 

South Brunswick, New Jersey. His 

paintings and sculptures were gaining 

a reputation and he had a one man 

show in 1956 at Hansa Gallery in New 

York. He was from a Jewish family 

of which most of the family members 

had perished in the Holocaust during 

the Hitler terror. Much of Segals 

sculpture work is done with plaster 

cast fabric used on humans for broken 

bones etc. He cast whole figures 

using the material. This might more 

commonly be used as the casting 

material to cast the figure inside, 

however his sculptures used the 

outside of the cast as the subject of 

the sculpture. He admitted himself 

that the use of the bandage material 

to make a cast of a full human body 

was breaking all the rules of fine 

art. He indicated the the bandaging 

resembled all of the problems from 

the depression years to World War 

II and finally the Holocaust and the 

movement to respect LGBTQ people 

as equals.

Christopher Park represent the

When Sonny wanted to build a restaurant 

he was given the runaround by city hall, 

and he told us that he would run for 

mayor and fire all the city workers. Well he 

became mayor and fired the city workers 

but they got the last laugh designing a 

statue that looms large like a wino not 

a lounge singer. There’s a bust of Sonny 

tucked behind the escalators at the Palm 

Springs airport, and our walkable business 

district.

a character that's barefoot? Please check out 

a tutorial on how to make "invisible shoes."

traffic or entryways. If the costume cannot
