The team at the Concorde Conference Centre<br />

impressive purpose-built super hangar is home<br />

to the legendary flagship of the British Airways'<br />

fleet. Dining under the wings of Concorde<br />

The Sumer Soiree package includes a red carpet<br />

and flambeau entrance, drinks reception and then<br />

either a hot or cold buffet. Guests can get onboard<br />

Concorde or hit the dance floor in a star light<br />

the end of September and costs £35 per person.<br />

Event organisers and party planners can add on<br />

extras; for an additional £5 per head, upgrade to<br />

a sit down three course meal. A cocktail package<br />

can also be added on. This includes a cocktail<br />

bar, two mixologists and up to 300 cocktails.<br />

The exclusive Christmas party package starts<br />

from £39 per person and offers access to the<br />

hangar from 8:00am until 1:00am, atmospheric<br />

lighting including a changeable colour wash of<br />

light on Concorde, personalised nose cone logo<br />

projection and a star lit backdrop.<br />

Guests have the VIP red carpet arrival to a<br />

sparkling drinks reception held around poseur<br />

tables under the aircraft nose and up to two hours<br />

to take a tour around Concorde. Catering includes<br />

a sumptuous three course meal plus a late night<br />

snack and the bar can be arranged for cash or<br />

You would expect the Institution of Engineering<br />

and Technology to have the very latest AV<br />

equipment and IET London: Savoy Place doesn't<br />

disappoint! Along with state-of-the-art equipment,<br />

there's an expert team of technicians taking care<br />

of digital content and visuals. It's no surprise the<br />

London Venue Awards gave Best Screen and Sound<br />

Award to IET London: Savoy Place.<br />

Sandra Mideros is part of this award-winning AV<br />

team. She studied Audiovisual Communication in<br />

Colombia before moving to the UK and studying<br />

graphic design in London. She's been at Savoy<br />

Place for the last three years.<br />

"Our venue has cutting edge technology which<br />

gives us a unique edge on other venues in central<br />

London. We have about 90 client facing screens<br />

throughout the building and a large part of my<br />

role is to look after the content for them. We have<br />

an impressive 4K video wall in the foyer, which<br />

is a favourite of mine! It’s the first thing people<br />

see when they arrive; it's large, vibrant and really<br />

brings the building to life.<br />

"We also have a digital chandelier, screens inside<br />

and outside of meeting rooms and a video wall<br />

in the Faraday Centre. This showcases our IET<br />

events, live social media feeds, pictures, videos<br />

and information for members.<br />

"I'm in charge of video and image content<br />

production so I get to create appealing displays<br />

for both internal and external clients. A large part<br />

of my role is answering questions from clients<br />

such as formats and pixel counts. I like to think I<br />

make technology understandable for our clients<br />

who don't deal with it on a regular basis!"<br />

Usually working a week to two weeks in advance,<br />

Sandra creates a default visual playlist for all the<br />

screens. If a client using the venue for an event<br />

wishes to use their own playlist on screens, it's<br />

Sandra who will make this happen. She explains<br />

more about the options available:<br />

"We can live stream a meeting or event from one<br />

room in the building to another, or even across<br />

the world, display live updates as they happen<br />

on social media with a Twitter wall and even<br />

schedule in live TV. So, if we were showing the<br />

football world cup, we can time content, like<br />

a company's branding, to show in the screen<br />

before it cuts back to live TV. We can even arrange<br />

for specific content to play at the same time as<br />

specific music.<br />

"Lots of companies like to use the screens for<br />

their own branding and for information relating to<br />

the day, like agendas, images, seating plans and<br />

guest speaker information. The digital screens are<br />

much cheaper and quicker than printing branded<br />

materials and we only need three days notice<br />

to create the content so last minute changes are<br />

never a problem."<br />

Savoy Place is home to an exhibition showcasing<br />

the 100 engineering ideas that have changed the<br />

world. Sandra looks after the informational screens<br />

off to the side of the exhibition. She explains:<br />

"The lighting behind the boxes can be set to a<br />

specific colour, which is great for adding a branding<br />

colour to an event. In the future, we are looking into<br />

accurately matching HEX colours and to program<br />

each box individually for a client’s requirements.<br />

"We're also updating the lighting and speakers to<br />

the Riverside Room, which from September will<br />

also benefit from a 4K video wall.<br />

"New cutting-edge software will allow for video<br />

mapping so we can compose and manage<br />

multiple media such as videos, images, live<br />

feeds and animations. We'll then play them<br />

across multiple screens and video walls within<br />

the room and all perfectly synchronised, either<br />

simultaneously or at pre-set times.<br />

"It's also good for an event organiser to know that<br />

we don't have any problems supporting multiple<br />

devices simultaneously to the WiFi during an<br />

event either."<br />

The IET London: Savoy Place has an extensive<br />

range of spaces available for conferences,<br />

meetings, receptions, award ceremonies and<br />

corporate celebrations. Situated in Westminster,<br />

it's convenient to reach via tube, rail and river and<br />
