Glacier's drought tolerance and attractive white, grey, and green foliage makes this
Hedera perfect for monocultures or combinations in full sun to shade.
» Good air circulation, control of humidity, and good sanitation practices are
critical. Good water management practices are critical to healthy plant growth.
» Hard pinch required to improve branching and control vigor. For single stem
plants – no pinch is needed.
» For 8 flowering branches: wait until 6–7 nodes develop on the stem, then
pinch shoot tips leaving 4 nodes (8 remaining leaves). For 4 flowering stems,
pinch to two nodes (4 remaining leaves).
» Treat with a preventative broad spectrum fungicidal drench at 1-2 weeks
after transplant.
» Do not use dry downs in irrigation to control height, wilting will stunt the crop.
Additional Cultural Information:
pH/EC: 5.5 - 5.8/1.0 - 2.0
Rooting Out Temperature: 65-72° F (18-22° C)
Growing Temperature: 65-72° F (18-22° C)
Holding Temperature: 65-80° F (18-26° C)
Water Requirements: Moderate
Finish Times in Weeks: 6"/gallon, 7-9; 10-12", 8-9
Spring Outdoor Finish: Do not finish outside until all
danger of frost is past
Notes:
Repeated lower level PGRs are better than high rates less
frequently. Bonzi (paclobutrazol) drench at 2–3 ppm, or B-Nine
tank mix of 5000 ppm (daminozide) + 1000 ppm Cycocel
(chlormequat chloride) spray, 1–2 weeks after pinching; 2–3 ppm
drench at first sign of visible buds; 2 ppm drench when flowers
start cracking color to hold for finish. Southern growers will need
to use slightly higher rates (+- 1-2 ppm).
