new identity of this city in the field of education. Vision of this Trust has always

G.D.Goenka , Surat has completed 8 Years of its excellence. It is now, not just a
school, it represents a spirit, a will to achieve and it captures the passion for
excellence. We firmly believe that before any success occurs in an organization, it is
preceded by a great deal of hard work, which is motivated by a powerful sense of
vision. The journey so far has been commendable as we have accelerated our way to
conquer the pinnacle of success. We have passed several notable milestones and

The aim of G. D. Goenka International School is to develop vigilance, achieve

And the world has not been broken up….”
These golden words by Sir Rabindranath Tagore surmise in themselves the chief
ideals on which the foundation stone of our school is laid. I take this opportunity to
congratulate the entire fraternity on having made a significant impact on the lives
of so many bright minds and inspired so many of our community leaders to support
the cause of education. The motto ‘Higher…Stronger...Brighter…’ speaks volumes
about the spirit of the School, and inspires the budding students.
The institution over the years has created an environment and ambience that
fosters learning as it provides the students with opportunities to explore and grow,
through situations that challenges them to identify their strengths and reinforce
them. It reminds me the words of the great scientist Albert Einstein “ I don’t teach
my children, I create conditions for them to learn.”
School Activity Calendar is a portrait of the intellectual, social, aesthetic culture of
a school. It offers a glimpse into the reminiscences of those who make up the school
community and portray the potentials and possibility that lies beyond. Its an
excellent medium to help the students to express their creative skills, while being a
subtle celebration of children’s inner thoughts and feelings.

I hope it will definitely enrich our learners with valuable literary taste in the field of
Art, Science, Culture, Sports, Music and Creativity. Let the work of the Goenkans
and their creations inspires us to move on and embark on an unending journey of
self-search & refinement.

overlook, young children are innately

with the ability to connect to the higher

often we become so reliant upon our 5
physical senses that we allow the ability
to connect to atrophy. Children have an
innate ability to connect, and when they
are encouraged to use their intuition
and rely more heavily upon it, the
ability grows and develops into a
profound tool that can alter the course
of ones life in so many impactful and

one should never forget health is wealth.
We learn the art of being humane very
easily through sports and games. Sports
not only teaches to error is human and to
forgive is divine but also perseverance and
faith is the path to success. Though we
know the immense benefit of sports and
healthy living, we rarely give great
importance to it. The reasons may be many
for our negligence for health and sports
but we must realize from our core of the
heart that we have missed the charm of this
beautiful life by being away from sports
and not following a healthy life style. We in
GDGIS not only try to inspire and promote
sports and games but also generate love for
s p o r t s , s p o r t s p e r f o r m a n c e a n d

In current scenario of technology and competitive world, it is important to keep
ourselves up to the mark in knowledge world. It is equally important to keep track of our
educational progress from pre-nursery till the date on how our kids has been performing

the academic syllabus when things are losing traction. Parents will get alerts like
attendance, home work, communication, meetings, emergency alerts and lot more either
in form of sms or through smart phone application. Students will be more interactive
with teachers through technology platform of aCloud.in. Students will get a lot more
material online for topics which are being prepared by teachers which will help them
increase their academic power and do best in the exams. They will be able to give online
exams through the same system. There are many analytical reports available based on

A book is a dream that you hold in your hand.
The Goenkan magazine is a platform wherein each and every member of the Goenkan
family expresses his or her views, comes forward with suggestions, sets goals and the
ways and means to accomplish them too! It is issued thrice in a year, giving a crystal clear
reflection of the happenings in the school. It is highly informative as it comprises of the
ins and outs of the school. The articles written by the top management, staff and students
are prudently amassed and then designed for a perfect output.
The Goenkan magazine is a complete package by itself! The minute details of the red
letter days are highlighted, our mentors - the members of the top management, the
coordinator of every section i.e. Pre Primary, Primary, Middle and Higher section,
submit inspiring and eye opening articles based on vital topics, the teaching and the non
teaching staff pen down lines which convey significant messages, the hidden potentials

The chief mentor believes in giving back to the society in every form. Keeping this virtue
in mind GDGIS has adopted Prarthmik Shala, Bharthana Vesu. (School for the under
privileged) The teachers and students of G. D. Goenka International School visit the
Prarthmik Shala regularly to educate the students there. Hope & bright colours are added
to their lives by celebrating festivals with them. GDGIS even caters to their infrastructural
and materialistic requirements.

General School Rules for GDGIS Students
1. Every student should carry the Almanac to school daily.
2. Students who come to school on their own, should arrive five minutes before the bell
rings.
3. Students should be habitually clean and always neatly dressed. The school uniform
must be worn on all working days.
4. Girls should not apply nail polish or mehandi during school session. Nails to be
trimmed at least once a week.
5. It is not advisable to bring valuable articles to school. Girls can wear very small studs
or ear rings of gold or silver.
6. Students are not allowed to bring Mobile Phones/ iPods / Cameras etc. into the school
campus. These gadgets if found in possession of the student within the school campus,
will be confiscated.
7. The name, class and section of the pupil should be clearly marked on the blazer and all
other belongings of the students.
8. Changing classrooms between periods when necessary should be done silently and in
an orderly manner.
9. Shouting or whistling is not allowed in school.
10. Care must be taken of all the school property and no student should scratch or spoil
the desks or charts or damage any furniture, write or draw anything on the walls or
damage things belonging to others. Damage done should be reported at once to the class
teacher or to the Principal/Vice Principal. Any damage done will have to be made good
by parents of the student(s) concerned.
11. Each student should have identity cards with his/her photograph. One has to be worn
by the child daily and the others to be kept with the Parents (Mother/ Father) Those who
are coming to pick the students from the school/bus stop must always bring the School
Identity card for identification.
12. Students are not allowed to use the school telephone without the permission of the
Principal. They will not be called to answer the phone during class hours.
13. Parents are requested not to visit their wards in the classroom without the permission
of the Principal/ Vice Principal. Communication with the teacher should be through the
Almanacs on a regular basis, to monitor the performance of the student. Requests for
meeting teachers on school days other than on PTM days will not be entertained, if
necessary, prior approval of the Principal/Vice Principal must be obtained.
14. Appointments with Dentists/Doctors or others should be avoided during school
hours. Such requests for early leave will not be entertained.
15. Students will not be allowed to leave in between the session unless it is an emergency
case

Attendance Rules for GDGIS Students
Consistent attendance in class is a critical component for students' academic success.
Therefore, attendance policy and procedures have been carefully designed to encourage
regular attendance.
1. It is mandatory for every student to maintain an attendance of atleast 75% during the
academic year failing which he/she will not be promoted to higher class as stated by
CBSE.
2. Yearly Working days : Pre Primary Section - 203 Primary Section - 224 Middle
Section- 224 Higher Section- 224 is calculated by dividing the no. of days present by no.
of working days
3. 15% shortage in attendance can be condoned on account of Medical Grounds (To be
validated with Medical Certificate)
4. Proper leave application in the 'Single window Format' is to be submitted by the
parents/guardians at the school 2days prior the leave. No other formats will be
entertained.
5. If the child is absent even for a day without any information, the leave application
should be submitted duly signed by parents/guardian and should reach the school the
very next day failing which the school will take strict action. (He/She will be marked
absent till application is submitted) and result will be withheld if it is repeated thrice in a
semester.
6. Early leaves and Half days will not be entertained without 2days prior information.
7. Re-test of any exam will not be taken in any circumstance, other than medical grounds.
8. Repeated Absence without permission or unexplained absence for more than 15
consecutive days renders the student liable to have his/her name struck off the rolls.
Renewal of admission may be allowed on the payment of the re- admission fees of Rs
25000/- on the discretion of the Principal.
Rules of Discipline for GDGIS Students
1. Proper discipline must be maintained to make the environment conducive enough
for learning activity
2. Orderliness, Silence, etiquettes must be maintained when moving around the school
campus. Any sort of misbehaviour will be strictly acted upon.
3. Proper dress code, neatness, manners must be a daily practice.
4. Children must be regular in school. A child must have 75% attendance to appear for
the exams otherwise he/she may not be able to sit for the exams.

Rules of Discipline for GDGIS Students
5. In case of illness or situation beyond control the child is allowed, but still every child is
liable to produce a leave application for the leave taken. In case of sickness Medical
Certificate, if out of station then Xerox of ticket and the invitation card for any functions
attended.
6. If a child is suffering from any contagious disease like: Conjunctivitis, Chicken pox,
measles should not come to school. The school will only allow on the permission letter
granted by a certified doctor.
7. A written application must be given by parents who want leave a week before the
actual leave.
8. No half day leaves will be entertained, except very genuine cases.
9. Monitors and prefects must abide by the duties given to them. Failure in executing the
duties may result in confiscation of their titles.
10. Not a single student should remain in the classroom during the games, activity
periods or practicals.
11. Any damage made in school by a student must be made good by the student who
caused it.
12. I pad usage must be done solely for the educational purposes and if in routine
checking illegal material is found, I Pads will be confiscated and will never be returned.
The student is liable to face punishment.
13. A.V room, Library, Auditorium can be used by students only under direct supervision
of a teacher.
14. Irregularity, disobedience, immoral conduct could result in the expulsion of the
student.
15. Strict actions will be taken on the use of vulgar language, bullying younger children
and other behavioural issues in the buses or in the school premises.
16. According to the nature of indiscipline an individual may be put in different stages
and respective cards may be given.
First Stage - Verbal Warning will be given. Second Stage - Log book entry Third
Stage - Blue Card - Parents to be called. Fourth Stage - Yellow Card - Parents to be
called, Issue of warning letter for suspension which can be for 3-7 days. Fifth Stage -
Red Card - Parents to be called, Issue of suspension for more than 7 days. Sixth
Stage - Parents to be called & expulsion of the student.
17. The school reserves the right of withdrawal of any student whose behaviour or
academic performance indicates an inability or unwillingness to meet the requirements
of the school or is an act of humiliation to school or others.
18. All the Goenkans should be proud of their school and should maintain the dignity and
decorum not only in school but also outside the school as well. They should prove
themselves the worthy ambassadors of the institution.

iPad Rules and Regulation for GDGIS Students
1. iPad should be brought to school daily.
2. Any Student should not download CYDIA Application or Jailbreak the iPad.
3. If CYDIA found in any iPad then iPad will be confiscated for 1 month.
4. iPad shouldn't be Password Protected.
5. No illegal Application & Videos should be downloaded by any student in iPad.
6. Students are not allowed to download any games on their iPad. If found then iPad will
be confiscated for 1 month.
7. Students are only allowed to download Educational Apps and Games like puzzle,
crosswords, Sports Game, Aero modeling Apps etc. (violent apps or games are not
allowed)
8. All Standard Applications & Videos of School should be there in Student's iPad.
9. While submitting iPad in school it should be fully charged,or at least 70% charged.
10. While submitting the iPad students should submit their iPad data Cable also.
11. Tag the students full name at back side of the iPad and data cable also.
12. Any VPN configuration or VPN app should not be found on iPad.
13. Students should not remove school's profile from iPad, if found doing so strict
measures would be taken.
14. No one should restore their iPad.
15. Find my iPhone should not be misused.
16. If a student is found repeatedly misusing the iPad, then it can be confiscated for an
year as well
17. No one should connect to Wi-Fi without profiles.
18. Do not remove or delete any sort of iPad configuration
19. The student should be aware that his iPad is subject to inspection at any time without
notice.
20. He/She should not lend his/her iPad to others.
21. He/She should know where his/her iPad is at all times.
22. The child should not leave the iPad unattended.
23. Camera usage is prohibited.
24. Do not use any social networking site or apps such as Facebook, wechat, viber,
whatsApp etc.
25. Do not use opera mini Application.
26. In case of having Micro sim card iPad, kindly do not use sim in the school premises.

27. Getting the personal iPads to school is prohibited. If at all due to any damage or any
technical errors the school iPads cannot be used, only then, with the permission of the
authorities can the personal iPads be brought to school, if there is any misuse found in the
personal iPads, it can result into confiscation of the same
28. It is the joint responsibility of parents & school to maintain the iPad, so we expect
cooperation from both the parents & students.
Alternate surprise checking of Student's I pad will
be done & if any student has any illegal Applications,
Video, Games, Cydia & Jailbreak, it will be actionable
as it is against Discipline of iPad. If found violating
any iPad rules, parents will be called.
SOP For Google Classroom (students)
1. To Start up Open a web browser and go to the Google classroom webpage:
https://classroom.google.com. Teachers/Students can also log in through the Google
Classroom Application.
2. Students have to use their GDGIS E-Mail username and password. Click “Logon”.
(Like: class06a22@classroom.gdgoenkasurat.com)
3. To join the class open your email: https://mail.google.com/a/gdgoenkasurat.com and
log in with your GDGIS username and password. Or login through browser and
application to accept the invitation given by the teacher.
4. Students can view Post, Attachment, and Assignments in the class stream. Students
can download all the attachments like; ppts,videos, notes, etc.
5. Select the class Assignments shown in the STREAM in the order that they were
assigned.
6. Complete an Assignment There are two ways to complete an assignment in
Classroom: I. To attach anything to the assignment, follow the steps to turn in an
assignment. II. If there are no attachments for the assignment, follow the steps to mark an
assignment done.
7. Students can edit an assignment after turning it in. However, any assignment turned in
or marked as done after the due date is considered late.
8. Turn in an Assignment Go to the class STREAM and click the assignment student
want to turn in. Student can also access the assignments through the Assignments page.
9. Mark an Assignment Done Go to the class STREAM and click the assignment to mark
as done. Students can also access the assignments through the Assignments page. Click
MARK AS DONE.

10. You can Edit Your Assignment after Submitting Go to the class STREAM and click
the assignment you want to edit. You can also access your assignments through the
Assignments page. I. Click UNSUBMIT and click UNSUBMIT again. Your status for
this assignment changes to “Not Done” so make sure you turn it back on before the due
date! II. Make any necessary changes and attach any new documents or links. III. If you
add an attachment, click TURN IN or MARK AS DONE if there are no attachments. IV.
Add a private note to your teacher if needed and click TURN IN or MARK AS DONE.
Suspension & Expulsion Rules for GDGIS Students
1. Whenever a student is guilty of disobedience or misconduct
2. Threatened, attempted or caused injury to other, theft and damage to the school
property
3. Any sort of gadget other than those permitted in school like I pad or calculators for
certain classes.
4. Disrespectful behaviour towards teachers, talking back, obscene act, vulgarity and use
of abusive or slang language
5. Creating hostile school environment
6. If the actions mentioned above are repeated it may lead to the expulsion of the child.
Withdrawal Rules for GDGIS Students
1. Students wishing to withdraw should give at least one semester's notice. (Apr-
Sep/Oct-Mar)
2. In case of Withdrawal, fees pertaining to the semester falling in the notice period shall
be payable by the student.
3. All refunds if any on special approval by chairperson will be paid after obtaining
clearance certificate and after 1 month from the last day of the student at the school.
4. In case of withdrawal on medical grounds in any semester, subjected to the submission
of original medical documents, then further approved by the management, the school
will thereof be liable to refund balance amount after deducting 3 months fees of
particular semester. Enrichment fees will not be refundable.
5. All refund transaction should be in the form of D.D. / Cheque only.
6. Transfer Certificates shall be issued only when the accounts office receives the duly
completed clearance form.

Homework Rules for GDGIS Students
1. Comprehensive exercises should be discussed in class & then students should be
encouraged to write all answers on their own.

ID Card Rules for GDGIS Students
1. A student who has lost his/her ID Card should report this to the Tuck Shop as soon as
possible to invalidate the card and apply for a replacement. Until the loss is reported and
the old card invalidated, the student may be held responsible for any unauthorised use of
that card.
2. Replacement of ID Card due to loss, damage or theft will attract a charge as follows,

3. Students should return their Student Identity Cards to the School for cancellation upon

Rules for Late Comers Students
1. A child must enter the school by 07:45 am on weekdays; grace of 10 minutes can be
given.
2. Entry will not be entertained after 08:00 am for classes I – X and 08:00 am for classes
XI – XII if the child has repeatedly come late twice in a month.
3. Children coming late twice in one month will be sent back home and parents will be
informed by the Front desk.

1. According to Roll number one key will be provided to individual student for which
he/she will be liable.
2. Cabinets must be kept properly and any damage to the cabinet due to negligence will
be borne by the students. (a) Any replacement of Soft Close Hinges set – Rs 700/- (b) In
case of loss of Key – Rs 250/- ; damage of lock: Rs 500/- © Replacement of Front shutter
with Hinges, Lock and Handle – Rs 1400/- (d) Replacement of Handle – Rs 350/-
3. During departure all the books should be kept in the cabinet, any book or stationery
lying here and there will be the responsibility of the child.
4. No stickers or other things should be stuck up on the cabinet door or inside it.
5. The key must be handed over to the class teacher before going for vacations or to the
next class at the end of the academic year or during withdrawal from school.
6. No food items or chocolates must be kept in the cabinet, if found then the key of the

General:
1) The school community is expected to live in the spirit of brotherhood, peace, harmony,
good citizenship and reflect high moral values at all times.
2) Students are governed by this code of conduct from the time they join school till the
time they leave.
3) All students will adhere to this code of conduct at all times, to maintain a very high
standard of behaviour and conduct in this school. Special attention will be paid to the
following:
1) The students will be smartly dressed in accordance with the school regulation. Untidy
and unkempt haircuts will not be permitted.
2) The students will be considerate, courteous and polite to all students, adults and
helpers.

Expensive items:
Expensive items such as cameras, iPods, mobile phones, expensive sneakers and so on
are not permitted at school. The school is not responsible for the loss or theft of such

Litter:

3. The school has an internal server, which is activated 24 hours, and the main system in
the knowledge center is linked with each and every iPad in the campus. So that not only

Evaluation System for GDGIS Students
1. For Class XI, the assessment is done in accordance with CBSE prescribed norms
which include practicals, class test, Periodic Assessment and Terminal examination.
Weightage given to knowledge gained is 40% in the I term and 60% in the II term,
A.S.L. is also the components of CBSE based evaluation in English. Two subjects
compartment in class XI will be allowed to sit for retest. If a child gets less than 33%
in more than three subjects, he will be detained in the same class.
2. For class XII, Assessment is done, keeping the board result in mind. Regular
evaluation is done through class tests, Periodic Assessment, Terminal Examination
and Pre-Board Exam. Final examination will be administered strictly as per the board
rules. To be entitled to appear in board exam, every student has to appear in all preboard
exams as well as maintain minimum attendance of 75%.
3. Promotion to class XII will be based on aggregate of all the tests, Term-I and Term-
II as well as the child has to score minimum 33% marks both in theory and practicals
separately for the final examination. Child will not be entitled to appear in exam if
minimum attendance is less than 80%.

5. Two Pre-boards are conducted for Class X & XII.
6. Exam time table and syllabus is given a month before the schedule.
7. Every child must be present for the scheduled exams otherwise he/she treated as

8. Genuine cases like medical, near ones marriage, things may be considered but that
also on the sole discretion of the Principal.
9. For such above cases, Medical certificates, Invitation Cards, Travelling Proof must
be presented.

Dress Code for GDGIS Students
1. Dress code must be maintained aesthetically.
2. Student dressed inappropriately will be sent home.
3. Identity card must be worn at all times.
4. The prescribed uniform given from the school should only be worn.
5. During winters, children should wear the red blazer given by the school.
6. The uniform should be worn correctly. Unbuttoned collars, loosened ties or dirty
shoes portray the child in a bad light. Personal grooming and neatness should be
looked after with lot of attention.
7. Not a single student is allowed to wear any kind of ornament except the small ear
studs for girls and watches for all from classes VI to XII.
8. Parents are requested to look into this matter seriously. Only on birthdays children
can wear a party dress.
9. Hairstyles must be neat, clean and well groomed. Boys are not allowed to grow
their hair long.

Duties of a Class Monitor
1) Class Monitor must be as far as possible exemplary in conduct and industrious in
his/her studies.
2) Class monitor must able to command respect in class.
3) Class monitor is employed for all assistance in the class, e.g. maintaining discipline,
collecting or distributing books, attending to cleanliness and neatness of the classroom
bringing charts, maps, reporting to concerned authorities about various needs of the
class, upkeep of notice board, etc.
4) The class monitor will write each day on the board the date and the number of students
present out of the total in the class.
5) As soon as the teacher leaves the class, the class monitor suppose to take charge.
6) Monitors are supposed to maintain silence and discipline, while performing their
duties.
7) Loitering for any reason, in any case should not be allowed.
8) Mischievous student's names are to be given to the concerned subject or class teacher.
9) Class monitor will be responsible for all happenings in the class during the absence of
the teacher.
10) To be a class monitor is a special privilege and honour. To betray the trust in him/ her
is to commit the most degrading act.
11) It is imperative on all class monitors to report the teacher in charge, or the class
teacher, breach of discipline noticed even during the recess.
12) In the event of teacher being absent, they must inform the section coordinator within
the first five minutes from the commencement of the periods, which can be reported to
Vice-Principal/Principal.
13) Class monitor should ensure that all the students speak in English.

7) Queue duty - Ensure the process of queuing for lunch and breakfast is carried on in
an orderly manner, Prevent running in the corridors and the habit of joining the queue
by an unauthorized route.
8) Bus stops - Leave class at 3:45 p.m. See to it that the queue is formed while
heading towards the cafeteria. After having snacks, make sure bus is boarded in an
orderly manner. Ensure that no litter is deposited at the bus stop.

Birthday Celebration for GDGIS Students
On birthdays students up to Class V are allowed to come in decent home clothes.
Parents may, if they so desire celebrate the birthday of the child in the school by
distributing not more than 2 toffees to their class mates. Parents are requested not to
send expensive gift items. No other form of celebration is allowed in school. Cakes
and other things are not to be brought to school. The school will not permit any
student to go directly from the school to attend a birthday celebration of any other
classmate or friend nor will it give the telephone number or address of any student for
sending an invitation.
Honours for GDGIS Students
Prizes will be awarded for excellence in studies, game and other curricular activities.
Due recognition will also be given for exemplary behaviour, conduct and values.
Lost And Found Articles
Material found in the School Premises should be handed over to the “Security
Department”. If possible, the owner of the item will be intimated. Details of the item will
be taken and entered into the lost property register held with “Security Department”.
Non-perishable items of lost material will be held with the Security Department for a
period of one month, after which the item will be categorized as unclaimed & will be
handed over to the Activity department for charity purpose for the under privileged
children.

GDGIS Transport Availability Rules for Students
1. Students can avail the school transport subject to availability. The service is not
mandatory but only an extra facility which can be withdrawn at any time, at a short
notice at the Management's sole discretion.
2. Routes of school buses are drawn up carefully after giving due consideration to the
convenience of the parents. However the decision of the school authorities on routing,
timing, pick up point etc of the bus will be final.
3. Parents should contact the school transport in charge for necessary details. Students
are not allowed to change their buses under any circumstances eg: Visiting friends or
relatives etc. If any change has to be made parents are requested to come personally
and pick up the students after obtaining permission from the concerned authority. In
case of a change of residential address or b us stop kindly intimate the school.
4. A clear calendar month's notice is required before a student discontinues the use of
school transport. However discontinuation of the school transport facility in the
fourth (4th) Quarter of the academic session will not be permitted. Students wishing
to avail school transport facility from mid-session will have to pay the bus charges on
pro-rata basis.
5. Students are requested not to damage, disfigure or destroy school property. Cost of
any damage to cushions, covers, curtains or any other fittings, fixtures etc. in the bus
shall be recovered from the parents of the student(s) concerned. Indiscipline in the
bus will not be tolerated and may lead to debarring the students from travelling in the
bus or even discontinuation of the bus service from him/her.

Rules for Library:
1. Library is a place of study and learning. It is necessary to maintain an atmosphere
of quiet and dignity inside the library. Conversation and noisy consultation inside the
library is not permissible. Strict silence should be observed within the library.
2. Students are expected not to act in any way which disturb the reading or study of
other students or which also interfaces with the proper functioning of the library.
3. Use of mobile phone is prohibited all around the library.
4. Eating and drinking is not allowed in the areas where the students are engaged in
study.
5. Personal belongings are not allowed to be taken in the library, only a notebook or a
paper can be taken to collect written notes.
6. Marking, Scratching, Damaging, Mutilating library materials will invite
disciplinary action against the defaulters.

7. To avail the library resources each class is allotted one library period in a week.
8. Books related to any subject matter can be issued from the library for not more
than one week.
9. In case of heavy demand of certain books the preference will be given on first cum
first serve basis.
10. Student/Staff must satisfy about the physical condition of the books before
borrowing otherwise they will be held responsible for any damage later or at the time
of return.
11. Student/Staff is expected to return borrowed books on or before the due date.
Borrowers will be asked to pay at the rates fixed by the library for or
12. replace the book lost or returned in damaged or mutilated condition.
13. Library reserves the right to recall any issued book even before the due date.
14. The Librarian reserves the rights to take in disciplinary action against the student
found misbehaving with the library staff or any unwanted behaviour.
15. Student should frequently check their online record by using aCloud User ID and
Password to know the status of Issue / Return. 16. Computer in the library premises
should be used for academic purposes only. 17. Parents can avail the facility of online
advance booking of library books by using their aCloud ID & Password.
To encourage the transfer of knowledge through books there are 3 well
equipped libraries in the campus. One in Pre-primary, second is in the
Primary section and third is in the Higher section.
Beauty & Health Care Centre
The School clinic is manned by a qualified doctor, and a nurse all through the school
hours to provide immediate first aid. Periodical medical checkups of all the students
are done and records are maintained. Any major observation is communicated to the
parents. Dental check up is also regularly done. To check the general hygiene of the
child, smart turn out sheets are maintained regularly.

Physical Fitness
The School has a full time physical fitness consultant. Periodical scientific physical
fitness checkups of all the students are conducted and deficiency if any is
communicated to the parents. Follow up action is also suggested.
GDGIS Parents ID Card Rules
1. Parent ID cards are issued keeping in view the security measures.
2. Parents are requested to produce the Parent ID card at the gate during any visit to
school.
3. Card must be shown for the “pick up” of the child.
4. If someone else is sent with the ID card of the parent then a written application
must be there, authorising the person to pick the child.
5. The parent ID card issued this year must be preserved well as it will be valid for
two years.
6. In case of loss of the Parents' ID card Rs. 100/- have to be paid to the class teacher
for the renewal of ID card.
7. Please discard the old ID card if any, For any misuse, school will not be
responsible.

At GDGIS we are very fortunate to have supportive and friendly parents. Our parents

Parent Teacher Meeting (PTM)
Parents are welcome to meet the teachers on P.T.M days at the allotted timings. There
are 6 PTMs round the year. It is compulsory for parents to attend the PTMs.

Technology plays a major role in the development of the students in the school. We,
at G. D. Goenka International School, are always a step ahead in having holistic
development of the children wherein technology is at the base. The iPad used by the
students at GDGIS is a real blessing in terms of their development if used in a proper
manner. To have this, even the parents need to know what are the utilities of an iPad
and what are the activities done by the children through it.
1. The Apple ID: ·
To operate this device, the first and foremost thing that is needed is an apple ID. · It is
a unique identification of an iPad. After having an apple ID, we can download various
Applications related to education.
· The instructions regarding the creation of the ID is given to the students so that they
can easily get started to use the device.
· For junior students of grade 2 to 5, the parents have to create their ID.
· The password with the ID should be confidential and not to be shared with anybody
so that misuse can be prevented.
2. Applications:
· There is a vast world of the best applications stored in the App Store.
· After having the Apple ID and password, you can have the access to the App store,
where you can download all the educational apps.
· The school provides a list of all the useful educational apps that are subject based.
So that the students can make the most of what they learn in the class.

· This is one of the key features of GDGIS, as it is the only school that provides this
facility.
· Education bank is bank of Knowledge, where all the kinds of study materials are
available to the students in their iPads at just one click.
· The school has an internal server, which is activated 24 hours, and the main system
in the knowledge center is linked with each and every iPad in the campus. So that not
only the students can access the contents but also the teachers can monitor the
contents and upgrade it timely.
· The teachers also upload the chapter wise worksheets, videos, notes, PPTs and
answer keys after every major exam in the education bank.
· The iPad instructor, who controls the inflow of the data in the bank, continuously
monitors all these activities.
· There is an application called “DOCUMENTS”, where you can access the education
bank.
· You can get the access of the contents at home by downloading them first from the
bank.
· By this feature, iPad can also be considered as an E- Library!!!

· The profiling of an iPad aids in restricting the students from accessing the Camera,
Face-Time, iMessage.
· It blocks the usage of Apps which are not applicable to students.
· It disables the connectivity to any other devices for security reasons.

Fees Policy for GDGIS Parents
This fee is applicable to both boarder & day-boarder students as mentioned in the
fees structure. This facility inclusive of breakfast, lunch, and evening snacks for
day- boarders & for boarders roserbell, breakfast, lunch, evening snacks,
refreshment, dinner etc.
Transportation Fee: This is towards providing School Bus facility and includes pick
up and drop of students at designated locations along pre- designated routes. This
service is not a door to door service and is strictly optional. Parents have the option
of making personal arrangement for transport of their wards. This fee is likely to be
reviewed during the course of the session to cater to variations in running costs.

· At the time of admissions students are required to pay admission fees of `25000/- and
once admission is confirmed, parents have to follow further fees process as per the fees
structure.
Tuition Fee: Applicable for the academic, athletic & the basic spiritual life program.
The tuition fee is payable every year. All the students are required to pay the annual fee in
two installments, as is prevalent during the session.
Laboratory Fee: Applicable for students of Grades XI & XII (Science Stream)
comprising of Science, Computer, and Math labs.
Enrichment Fee: This is towards supply of text books, note books and uniform from
the school. This is mandatory and parents have to take books, stationery, uniform
approved by the school management. Other costs (Field trips, local educational tours,
Industrial visits, and Heritage places visit) are included in enrichment charges.
Boarding Fee: Covers residential care, first-aid, dormitory, equipments & utilities and
evening tuition classes.
Incidental Account (For Boarding students): This account covers supplemental
expenses, such as text books, medical supplies & expenses, spiritual, academic & sports
related field trips, replacement of school uniforms, items specifically requested by
parents, and other incidental needs, as and when they may arise. Upon graduation,
withdrawal or expulsion, any remaining portion will be refunded to those students who
have not utilized their incidental account.

Application Fees
A fees of Rs.2000/- charged for processing of all new applications.
Registration Fees
Once the application is considered and accepted, a deposit of `25000/- towards nonrefundable
registration fee (non interest bearing deposit) is required to be paid to confirm
the seat at the school. If GDGIS School, Surat is unable to offer your child a place the
registration fee will be refunded in full and if the same student wants to re-join the school,
then they have to follow the normal admission procedure again.

Late Payment & Payment Plan
· A late payment charge will be applied to the students who have not paid the fees in time,
if the fee is not received after the payment deadline, a sum of `100/- per day will be
charged for subsequent 15 days.
· If the fee is still not received after 15 days of the payment deadline, a sum of `500/- per
day will be charged for subsequent 15 days.
· Students whose fees remain unpaid in full/part after the one month of due date; will not
be allowed to sit for the board examinations. Until the outstanding fee is received, no
internal examination results, reports, Transfer Certificates or recommendations to future
schools/colleges will be issued to the student or the parent.
· If the fee is not paid even after 3 fortnightly reminders, by the school authorities the
student's name shall be struck off from the school's records and if the same student wants
to re-join the school then they have to follow the normal admission process again.
Dishonoring of cheque
· A charge of `500/- will be levied for any dishonored cheque, in addition to any
applicable late fees. The amount must be remitted within two working days as the matter
may be handed over to the legal department.
· All bank charges pertaining to inward remittance of school fee, if any, will be borne by
the student.
Mid Term Admissions
Student enrolling after the commencement of semester needs to pay for the entire
semester & if availing transport facility, then they have to pay on pro-rata basis (Full
Month).

Discounts
· Siblings discount:
The school offers a fixed amount of `25000/- for the siblings of an applicant. A
concession of Rs. 25000/- for second and third child respectively, is offered to the
applicants. Concession will not apply to the elder student. The concession will be
awarded each year (NUR to XII) provided the siblings manage to be academically at par
with GDGIS educational standards. The concession is made on the condition that all the
siblings continue their schooling at GDGIS. Discontinuation of education for any sibling
before the completion of academic year at GDGIS will result in cancellation of the
concession thereafter. Sibling discount is applicable only in second installment only for
same biological parents.
> Concession is not applicable to scholarship students.
> No discount will be entertained without written approval of chairperson.
· Scholarship:
The scholar requires to clear scholarship test every year to avail this discount as per the
GDGIS norms. This discount is applicable while paying second installment.
Fees are non refundable
· The school's budget is allocated based on enrollment numbers at the start of the
academic year. Financial commitments are thus made to faculty, staff and facilities for
investments. Therefore, request for pro-rated tuition charges as a result of illness,
unexpected departures, or extended holidays cannot be granted.
· In the event of a student required to leave the school for disciplinary reasons, the
semester fee shall be forfeited.
Payment Procedure
· Please note, payment must be made for the full amount of the invoice (all bank charges
are the responsibility of the payer) in favor of “G.D. Goenka International School” as per
the instructions on the invoice.
· Payment through Cash Management System (CMS), HDFC bank fee deposit slips to be
given to the parents of those who want to avail this service.

Conversions
· Students converting from Boarding to Day-boarding will not be allowed in between the
session. Students converting from Boarding to Day- boarding in the middle of the
session shall have to pay boarding fee for the full session as the seat is occupied for the
child. Transport fees will be charged as applicable if availing transport facility.
· If the students shift from Day Boarding to Boarding in the middle of the semester, they
shall have to pay full boarding fees (Resident / Personal Account) and separate amount of
Food & Enrichment fee will be applicable. No refund will be applicable of transport fee,
if availing transport facility by day-boarder.
Withdrawals / Refunds
· Students wishing to withdraw should give at least one semester's notice. (Apr-Sep/Oct-
Mar)
· In case of Withdrawal, fees pertaining to the semester falling in the notice period shall
be payable by the student.
· All refunds if any on special approval by Chairperson will be paid after obtaining
clearance certificate and after 1 month from the last day of the student at the school.
· In case of withdrawal on medical grounds in any semester, subjected to the submission
of original medical documents, then further approved by the management, the school
will thereof be liable to refund balance amount after deducting 3 months fees of
particular semester. Enrichment fees will not be refundable.
· All refund transaction should be in the form of D.D. / Cheque only.
