DES RHONEGLETSCHERS<br />
An der Verzweigung der Strassen über den<br />
Furka- und den Grimselpass liegt die<br />
Siedlung Gletsch mit dem altehrwürdigen<br />
Hotel Glacier du Rhône. Bei der Eröffnung<br />
des Grandhotels in den 1850er-Jahren lag<br />
der Rhonegletscher keine 100 Meter<br />
entfernt. Heute lässt sich der Rückzug<br />
des Gletschers auf einem Naturlehrpfad<br />
eindrücklich verfolgen. Faszinierende<br />
Perspektiven auf die Landschaft gibt es<br />
ausserdem durch die Fenster der Furka-<br />
Dampfbahn zu entdecken. In Gletsch<br />
können Fahrgäste für die nostalgischen<br />
Fahrten zu- oder aussteigen. Reservationen<br />
sind notwendig.<br />

IN SEARCH OF THE RHÔNE GLACIER<br />
At the junction of the roads over the Furka<br />
and Grimsel passes lies the settlement<br />
of Gletsch with the majestic Hotel Glacier<br />
du Rhône. When this imposing hotel<br />
opened in the 1850s it was less than<br />
100 metres from the Rhône Glacier.<br />
Today an impressive nature trail follows<br />
the retreat of the glacier. Fascinating<br />
views of the landscape are also promised<br />
through the windows of the Furka steam<br />
railway. Passengers making this nostalgic<br />
journey can hop on and hop off in Gletsch.<br />
