The regional dialect unmistakeably shapes the culture of every Swiss region.<br />
In Andermatt, the “Ürnertytsch” dialect is often spoken with specific<br />
expressions from the Ursern Valley. Learn a few terms with references to<br />

Mälchtärä<br />
Früher, als man die Kühe auf der Alp noch<br />
von Hand melkte, wurde die Milch vor der<br />
Weiterverarbeitung in diesem hölzernen<br />
Gefäss gesammelt. Bei Festen und Alpabzügen<br />
(Seite 42) sind traditionelle Geräte und<br />
Ausstattungen auch heute noch zu sehen.<br />
In the past, when the cows on the alp were<br />
still milked by hand, the milk was collected<br />
in this wooden container before further<br />
processing. You can still see traditional<br />
equipment in use at festivals and witness the<br />
traditional descent of the herds (page 42).<br />

gibt es aber noch viel mehr zu entdecken.<br />
Elsewhere in Switzerland it’s also known as “gireizlä”<br />
or “ritiseilä”: letting your feet dangle on the swing<br />
has been providing fun for young and old children<br />
for centuries. There’s lots more to enjoy in the<br />
