THE DELIGHTED FLY<br />
A fly landing on a statue's nose<br />
Said, ‘This human in repose<br />
Is cold and still. It's quite a thrill<br />
To walk on breathless lips<br />
And unblinking eyes,<br />
To cross fingers that do not itch<br />
Or wish to crush;<br />
To rest on an adam's apple or<br />
Circumnavigate without fear<br />
The cool rim of an ear.<br />
If all humans were like this I<br />
Would be a happier fly.’
